Dreweatts Art Auctions π¬π§, by cheese on Mar 29, 2015 16:42:13 GMT 1, Wouldn't be the first time... I was going to bid on a Salgado photo last year that turned out to be completely buggered (looked like a smashed frame had scratched the surface of the print): it sold to an internet bidder, for about 6k, who probably thought he got a bargain...
Golden rule: always get a (written) condition report if bidding remotely. The CRs I've had from Dreweatts have, as you'd hope, always been accurate.

Dreweatts Art Auctions π¬π§, by wishingiwaslucky on Mar 29, 2015 17:42:37 GMT 1, Advise to anyone (not that most of you need it, but newbies thinking of bidding in auctions) first thing is ask for a condition report well in advance of the auction. If you go, then examine, check providence etc, but fine.
BE VERY CAREFUL; As with nearly all auctions, you can bid on line, watch on line etc, they won't tell you of the condition or mainly won't even show the print at all, so you are bidding blind. Do your homework or you may get burnt.

Blooms/Drew have previous for this - personally would not buy online from them - they chuck the prints on A1 folders without any care for the viewing days - I would not like to say how much handling damage occurs in their hands.
no success on Ebay ? give it to Drewatts

I'd be a bit annoyed if i was the owner of the 2nd one - will undoubtedly go for less than the first one as the top bidder will have already taken the 1st one.

5. VAT.
(*) indicates that VAT is payable by the purchaser at the standard rate (presently 20%) on the hammer price as well as being an element in the buyerβs premium.
This imposition of VAT is likely to be because the seller is registered for VAT within the European Union and is not operating the Dealers Margin Scheme or because VAT is due at 20% on importation into the UK.
The double symbol (**) indicates that the lot has been imported from outside the European Union and the present position is that these lots are liable to a reduced rate of VAT (5%) on the gross lot price (i.e.
both the hammer price and the buyerβs premium).
Fact. ----------------------------
*** Might have a crease. ***** Might be a dirty mark on it. ***&^%*** might be raining outside, not men.
