Not in the slightest.

It's not a particularly strong image and I don't recall any Banksy print selling for that kind of money. What were they thinking...?

Prove what, that they are the same list? My assumption is based on the fact that the gold and silver invaders appeared for sale within days of being received, both here and on eBay. This is the first Love Hurts that has appeared for sale since its release at some point in 2012 - many on here never even knew of its existence.

Apologies Silvermyn, didn't mean to come across negatively.

Below are all the Kate prints (and canvasses) that have ever been sold at auction (most recent first). The highest (in Feb 2008) went for $188,425 at the time, which is an eye-watering sum for a print. The more recent ones have been going for much less admittedly, the most recent going for $60k and $68k, which at current exchange rates is in line with the £38k for Love Hurts. Whoever picked the one up for $28k did very well......

I think one can make an educated guess based on past history at that auction house that the consignor lowered their reserve from 50 to 40 sterling and that the 38 bid was manufactured/chandeliered. Pure speculation on my part but one could confirm by calling the house directly and asking what level they can sell that lot after sale. I, and many others, never trust the high bid on an unsold lot.

I hope that the idiot who paid 4200 gbp for the Hodgkin "Ice" print will one day find out that it is still available at Counter Edition for 1,000 gbp.
