Anyone into motorcycles?, by thesewalls on Apr 22, 2008 8:46:02 GMT 1, it's all about supermoto! or supermotard as you guys call it across the pond. the best of all worlds - raging dirt bike aggression, buttery street bike turning, and the comfort and throttle response of a beastly cruiser. I had a Honda XR650L that i converted to a SM. some FAAAACKER stole it but hey what are you gonna do. Congrats on your new toy, and please, wear a good helmet and decent protection!

The London Police canvas for sale, by thesewalls on Apr 12, 2008 6:46:17 GMT 1, Thanks for the PMs and such. curiousgeorge, thank you for your insights. Seriously. I apologize for not listing a price. To be completely honest, I'm having a hard time selling this and was hoping for an offer I couldn't refuse...a whale to splash my pot if you will. Ironically enough, I may end up getting that offer in the form of a trade...which gets me no closer to my OG! Faaaaackin' junkie I am.
Also, interesting point on the use of stencils.
And finally, someone tell JBOY to buy this hilarious poster that I apparently priced too high...price is negotiable!

The London Police canvas for sale, by thesewalls on Apr 11, 2008 11:42:03 GMT 1, There was a very similar one on Ebay a few months ago - listed by a fellow forum member - that in 'the end' sold for around 1K pounds...a cash + trade deal was negotiated and the auction was ended (correct me if I'm wrong if you two are reading this). I'm honestly looking for top dollar, as I do not want to sell this piece...it's up for sale because I have another TLP canvas, and I'm trying to hang an artist that hasn't graced my walls yet. Due to it's uniqueness, precise execution, and the fact that my collection is somewhat minimal, it was the obvious choice to sell. Great value...there are very few TLP works out there...this is an OG canvas, and while there are others like it, no two are the same, yada yada yada. But seriously, have you ever seen circles drawn so sickly? Crispy, clean and refreshing...these LADS are in my kitchen and go quite well with my morning coffee. It's gonna be sad to see them go...

The London Police canvas for sale, by thesewalls on Apr 11, 2008 7:31:18 GMT 1, Freeing up some wall space and stacking some loot for an OG acquisition. I'll most likely be listing my Kant Complain along with a few other bangers, but for the moment I'm selling my TLP canvas. It's signed by Chaz and dated 07. Classic TLP LADS action here, 18"x24".
In general I prefer to include an asking price, but due to the fact that, as D*Face might say, these are as rare as hens teeth in rocking-horse ish, I'm leaving this one open to offers. Gonna go on the 'bay if it doesn't go here, but I of course wanted to offer it up to the team first. Holler.

HELP - Framer recommendations (Brooklyn/Manhattan), by thesewalls on Apr 9, 2008 8:16:51 GMT 1, Hello all. Anyone know a good and reasonably priced framer in the NYC? Preferably somewhere near Union Sq. or in Williamsburg, BK, but I'm open to all neighboring areas. My last 2 experiences did not go well and I need a solid spot for my beautiful babies...they've been in their portfolio/tubes too long! Thanks in advance for any thoughts and recommendations.
PEACE!

Brand NEW Blek Le Rat Set!!, by thesewalls on Apr 7, 2008 5:57:01 GMT 1, it's all in your head dood. just cause somethings sold out doesn't mean it's worth more, especially these. i'll be suprised if you get cost. i know i know, you got excited at the show, thinking about how you could be a flipper too, and wow, you had this great opportunity to get your set of prints for free, but no my friend, no, they won't go. and stop trying to compare them to Banksy, apples and oranges. you have A LOT to learn about the art market. good luck.

Banksy's on eBay โข Real or Fake?, by thesewalls on Sept 24, 2007 9:36:07 GMT 1, agreed. street - for the public - is where they belong. a major function of street art is to reclaim pubic space, not take it home and especially not sell it on frickin ebay. there was a D*Face piece up last week for 900 quid - didn't sell to my knowledge. dude said it was signed by the artist, an original work. yeah, no shit, but it was NEVER MEANT TO BE FOR SALE!!

Don't believe the hype!, by thesewalls on Sept 20, 2007 11:03:47 GMT 1, half of me agrees with you and the other half thinks that something smells fishy. youve had three posts on your name and they've all been about Micallef... laz certianly seems to have ur attention. take a deep breath, stand back and watch what happens when the market gets flooded and this hype is over.
nothing fishy my friend, i'm just new to the boards and this has been the biggest splash since i've joined. in all honesty, the words i write are for myself just as much as they're for the forum (after all, it's about the sharing of ideas, knowledge, opinions, and the value of expression). this culture amazes me, from what the lot here has to say (which is all VERY impressive for the most part), to the art i see every day as i walk the streets. i grew up as a graf/street art/obey head, but spent a lot of time in the music scene as i aged, and have now found my way back to my roots, which seems to be tip toeing the line between mass consumerism and soulful beauty. it is a constant struggle for me to see that beauty in it's purist form, which translates into a jumble of thoughts sometimes. I recently 'bought' three Faile prints, to only be refunded for all of them...yet I walk by wheatpasts by Bast, Swoon, Faile, Obey, and the like daily, but cannot manage to get them on my walls for an affordable price. I do have other posts on these boards, as i try to find solace in this realm, and look forward to future developments. Please, if you're reading this, extrapolate on your predictions after my lungs are filled with fresh air, and hopefully refresh, enlighten, or bash my somewhat cynical views. and i am of course interested in what triggered the 'fishy' line...caught up in the phenomenon i am, and will take the advice mentioned above and look at the 'methods' involved. more soon. thanks for the words all, reeeespect.

Don't believe the hype!, by thesewalls on Sept 20, 2007 8:41:38 GMT 1, Look at the big picture here. Take a step back for a second. These were print releases that, before they were actually available, no one really loved. Sure, Peace Keeper got some points, but come on, they're not amazing and you know it. AMs work IS special, he is an amazing artists, and he will continue to make beautiful pictures for our walls, for years and years to come. The line for the prints at LAZ, including the scene before, during, and especially after, is exactly what Steve wants. We're creating even more demand with all this talk, making it more likely for the random board member to buy one on ebay for double the MSRP, instead of waiting a month for the flippers cards to expire, or boycotting them all together. And yes, I use Manufactured Suggested Retail Price for a reason. To me, none of the new prints were worth that much. Are worth that much. We made them worth that much! All I'm saying is to take a deep breathe and take a fucking step out of our/your little bubble, the air is nice my friends.
Peace and Respect

Name that Flipper..., by thesewalls on Sept 20, 2007 8:00:58 GMT 1, johncoe's selling ALL 4 of the LAZ prints...i sent him a message through ebay before even reading this post...all it contained was the following; "SCUMBAG."
and no, flipping is not considered acceptable if the money is used for other art. it is one thing to sell from your collection, and another to flip. your intentions and considerations for true fans, or lack there of in the flippers case, paint your act acceptable or not. basically, you shouldn't have to ask if you're a flipper.
I SECOND THE PURCHASING OF THESE PRINTS WITH FAKE EBAY ACCOUNTS...I'M ON IT!

thoughts on the LOTTERY system, by thesewalls on Sept 19, 2007 20:45:25 GMT 1, there was a band i used to see that became so popular - not only as a 'cult', but as a target for flippers - that they began using a lottery system to sell tickets to their shows. this band is now not only defunct, but took a hiatus at one point partially because the soul of their tours was being ruined by people who were only their to make a profit off the scene. it was a messy, sad state of affairs to say the least. most importantly, the music suffered, and like i said, is now no longer.
AM's recent prints remind me of those times...inferior art that's harder to get, more expensive, and is accompanied by madness for all the wrong reasons. server crashes, Faile's recent refund debacle, Fatty McBringmywholefuckingfamily, BINs hours after for TRIPLE the MSRP, yada yada yada. it's no secret that the art market, more specifically the Limited Edition Print market (of course due to it's affordability and adult card collector appeal), is rapidly loosing its soul (in big part thanks to ebay no doubt). I can't help but agree with Faile - and their fans who were nice enough to suggest such - that a lottery system should be implemented in the future for print releases.
what do you all think about the lottery system for print releases? pros and cons? a reality? through artists sites? gallery sites (or in person for that matter)? will it help save our sanity? the quality of the prints/images? the value? make them much harder to get or about the same? deter flippers? attract more? thanks in advance for reading (and responding), and congrats if you got your hands on a print today.
also, i have a Kant Complain that i'd be willing to trade for either Uzi Lover or Minotaur...or something older of course.
PEACE!
