D*Face Website HACKED Again!, by thesewalls on Jun 15, 2008 9:04:42 GMT 1, is it smif or smiff? i'm guessing you used the double F for your tag on D*s website because...
a) you couldn't decide which F looked more hood. b) it just looks better with 2 'F's' yo, how hot is my tag yo. c) you just can't f*cking spell
the following is a quote from the little hack job on D*s site...and i quote...
You couldn't be wronger You mother fuckers wanna play games? I recommend Tonka Bitches thinking shit's sweet are watching too much Willy Wonka, I don't really want the fame, I want the game and respect, Block my path and I'll make a pass, And aim for your neck, I'm tired, Frustration has me wired to blow, One reason I'm quick to drink and fire a dro',
first of all - wronger? i didn't know anyone used that form of the word...must be some gangster proper english sh*t, but correct me if i'm wrong.
you don't really want the fame? than why mention it? by writing that you are indeed admitting to the desire, in my opinion of course.
niggaz thinkin' sh*ts sweet i carry big heat wavy hair chipped teeth up in this b*tch deep....NAS said it much better than you almost 20 years ago now, you are so very unoriginal and lack skills as a writer...willy wonka? come on man, really? nice reference there, must have taken you a while to come up with that one.
you're tired. yes, obviously, it's surely part of why you're so frustrated and angry with the world. i also grew up in a working class family, working class neighborhood, did my graffiti and wrote my little raps, sold trees and yay...inner city sh*t. but i grew out of it. i no doubt learned a lot and it has helped make me who i am today, but living in a tiny apartment, moving all the time, getting evicted, selling drugs, getting in fights, staying on friends/strangers couches...gets old...fast. but hey, as long as you can keep referencing the fact that you were out painting, than well, more power to you. and no, i don't know you, and don't pretend to, it's just fun to try and make some sense of it all, cause your head is so far up your ass, you think you are the end all be all...you have to get out of your head man, get out of the city, the country - there's a whole world out there that is much bigger and more beautiful than anything you can or ever will be. it's NOT all about YOU, dood. and finally, one does not "fire a dro." dro is short for hydro (of course)...you can fire THE dro, but not A dro. A blizz maybe, or a jizzy...even a bong or little one-hitter, but not "a dro." you have clowned yourself as far as hip-hop goes, not only in the form of rap, but also in the form of graffiti, since you can't even post some pics of your work. you have also herbed yourself as far as inner-city living goes (or street i should say), cause THOSE cats don't care about what people on the internet are saying. hear me - they don't care! if you were really street you would be too busy doing your thing in the hood instead of lolly-gagging on the web - fact. making moves is necessary in this life, and the ONLY person that can say whether or not they "sold out" is THEMSELVES. it's in the heart, not in someone else's judgmental mind. maybe D* did cross a line, and doesn't have a clear conscious. somehow i doubt that...i think he sleeps just fine at night. how about you man, how you living? where's your heart at?

Doze Green 🇺🇸 Print Release • Show News • Art For Sale, by thesewalls on Jun 13, 2008 7:02:37 GMT 1, DOZE GREEN has been doing it for YEARS. a TRUE LEGEND!!(sorry about the caps he's one of my favorites). if you dig his work and want it on the wall he has some nice posters for 5-10 quid. also, the print on his website isn't actually available, they need to update that sh*t.
Doze and Neate - great juxtaposition. Was reminded of Doze when looking at those pics (especially the second one) manchestermike posted of new Neate street art, from whats believed to be Brasil.
It's funny what makes it across the pond, going both ways of course. Doze is one of those dudes that for whatever reason (exposure on and off the street most likely) isn't big in the UK (comparatively speaking), but is a serious legend here. please note, i can only follow the scene over there via the internet, so PLEASE, correct me if i'm wrong, but Doze goes relatively unmentioned, no?

Brendan Monroe 🇺🇸 Exhibition News • Art For Sale, by thesewalls on Jun 13, 2008 6:32:37 GMT 1, they made it! that redness looks like it could have almost floated off a Soto painting...almost...juicy nonetheless. The first one should be called "a due of farts" or something - i kid, i kid. beautiful work, and a great example of how much can get lost (or gained) when the angle/setting/light/whatever is changed in the picture. Well done.

Blu 🇮🇹 Bologna Street Art • Print Release • Art For Sale, by thesewalls on Jun 13, 2008 6:25:40 GMT 1, Also got the DEMOS print from studiochromie - massive, and by far his best print to date...if only because it's of one of his building murals, but IMO its the best image too. Completely agree that part of the beauty in his work gets lost in transition though...and sheeaaat, i wont get that beast up on the wall till i move into a bigger apt (or take down a Faile and we know thats not happening).
DOGANT - Jonathan Levine Gallery should still have some of his sketches (from the European Street Art show several months ago). Give his website a check, and if you don't see any email them - they're chill and have lots of work not shown on the site. Good luck and happy trails

Investment choice, by thesewalls on May 27, 2008 7:23:04 GMT 1, my suggestion is find something you like and invest into it... stock market is static at the moment unless your investing in gold/copper - food exports...etc... as someone said you will have to look at it for few years so better to get something you enjoy rather than something you hate.... i wouldnt say this scene is a bubble just yet... people who visit forums / know anything about art are really a very small pecentage of the population... i sometimes forget and chat away about artists at work and no one has a clue what i am on about... for example in bristol and everyone heard of banksy but many never heard of nick walker... reason i think there are many more years left to this so called movement is because the majority of people involved buy because they appreciate art rather than make quick buck... and it is evolving out of the uk which i think is fantastic... can call myself a late starter but im looking forward to the next few years and what happens next...the discovery of that new artist which in your own opinion blows everyone else out of the water... that to me is more exciting... im sure when the time comes you will make the right decisions...good luck....s
it's evolving out of the UK? hahahah laughable, you like in the UK huh? and yes, a late started indeed. do some research man, try starting with graffiti in the BRONX...

DFace • Kant Complain 2007, by thesewalls on May 24, 2008 11:30:48 GMT 1, I honestly don't think these will be making it to the framers, and I could really use the money. Ideally one of you wants them both and would like to get a deal in the process. I'm looking for around $3,000, and encourage offers on either side of that number. They are in perfect condition, and come with full provenance from O Contemporary.
Here's a pic of the KC...I haven't taken out the Che to photograph yet but will soon.

Nick Walker strikes again in Brooklyn (pictures), by thesewalls on May 24, 2008 11:03:02 GMT 1, Yes y'all, the 'vandal' has left his mark once again...about 5 blocks from the remote control giraffe (Williamsburg, Brooklyn...this one's on the corner of Wythe & N.3rd). It was done around the same time as the others, I just haven't had a chance to bring my camera over there and post em up. In turn, someone has tastefully (HA!) added a smiley face to the heart. So here you go, another bit of love left behind...
I also have a side story in regards to the giraffe piece. My good friend is close with the owners of the shop NW did the art outside of. Apparently he asked their permission, they all hung out for a few, than NW went to work. He used a projector to display the image on the wall, than worked off that to paint the piece. It was really windy that night, which my boy said accounts for the not-so-impressive execution of the piece...he watched him work, and struggle, to create it. Beyond that the details were lacking - I just wanted to provide the little bit of info i had on the subject, which is at least noteworthy. I asked him what it was like to hang out with Nick Walker...what he was like. The answer: focused.

art critics , by thesewalls on May 24, 2008 9:27:18 GMT 1, the following is a quote from the article mr. ronhill provided at the beginning of the thread.
"You can't criticize it without sounding like a slipperwearing, toffee-nosed art critic. I guess that's why I really don't like it."
i find that statement to be so untrue, and the cause of an opinion to be reached for all the wrong reasons. i can think of several forum members who can criticize the sh*t out of the exhibit/artists/street art without sounding like whateverthefuck. just goes to show this guy has no basis for reflection or juxtaposition...his opinions and thoughts are grounded in a void of knowledge, and a lack of experience with a quite intimate subject. someone, anyone, PRESS RELEASE...maybe the associated press will pick it up

art critics , by thesewalls on May 24, 2008 9:05:51 GMT 1, too true well at least some of us like to think we are When are some of these publications and editors going to wake up and write an informed review, that goes beyond scratching the surface of the biggest art movement of the 21st century. BIGGEST ART MOVEMENT HAHAHA. WATCHING TOO MUCH MTV Y'ALL
by the numbers (literally the amount of 'art' that has/is being created in the 'street'), this movement is in fact the biggest art movement in the history of our existence. of course there are many other factors...even opinions *cough cough* to take into account, but the ground covered by 'street artists' is something phenomenal. crazy momentum...we'll see where it goes, but i can only see this getting more serious and respected as time passes..bring those "informed reviews" on!

Framed Choe City Girl, £800, by thesewalls on May 23, 2008 7:38:01 GMT 1, I've been looking for one of these for a while, but haven't pulled the trigger yet because in the back of my mind I know a City Girl 76/first edition is going to pop up. I personally like that image better (not at first, but now yes). I would LOVE a beautifully graced CG (some of those ladies are gorgeous), but for whatever reason they never come around. I suppose the hard core Choe heads have those up on their walls. Nonetheless, I agree with you oh heavyconsumer - Choe is still on the rise. Damn and it's already framed...if i lived near you man i'd most likely be unable to resist temptation. Bump for Choe and someoe selling/trading me their City Girl. Good luck with the sale hope you find someone near by, may make or break the deal...
