Andy Warhol πΊπΈ Real or Fake? β’ Sunday B. Morning Print, by barrychuckle on Jan 11, 2024 14:20:56 GMT 1, Does anyone know the source of these that I keep seeing on eBay etc?
I know they were produced by Chanel as an ad in 1997 but there seems to be a huge amount of them flying around, not to mention quite a few fakes.
Feel free to drop me a DM if you know rather than it turning into the usual chaos

Andy Warhol πΊπΈ Real or Fake? β’ Sunday B. Morning Print, by LJCal on Jan 11, 2024 18:55:51 GMT 1, There was a poster campaign they did in the mid 90s where these were given away at Channel concessions in Paris, presumably thousands were printed and distributed. They're after the print from the ads series from 1985. Obviously many unauthorised copies have since been made, so unless they have very strong provenance or come from his Foundation there's a high chance you're buying a replica.

Morning Print, by Fantasmes on Jan 20, 2024 0:23:32 GMT 1, Hi everyone - what market value range would you place on a 1970 SBM/Warhol βFlowersβ (yellow) with the black stamps? I canβt find any recent sales to reference, so, thought Iβd poll the audience. Thanks in advance!

This is probably the blue stamp and not the black stamp... the only series recognized by AW. To answer your question, these prints are rare (250 for each series), rarely go on sale and it is therefore difficult to give you a price. The size of the stamps used on the back is essential to ensure its authenticity. I can send you examples of 3 different prints to help you (1 soup can and 2 Marylin) in private.

Andy Warhol πΊπΈ Real or Fake? β’ Sunday B. Morning Print, by Extra Ball on Jan 25, 2024 10:59:50 GMT 1, Can anyone tell me if these SBM prints numbered with black text are only legitimate? They measure 91.4cm x 91.4cm. Thanks the size of the print is good. As for the tampons, they also seem good but without the exact size it's difficult to give you a definitive opinion. For the numbering, there is a difference between the font style used at the time and yours, you can see the difference on the 2 and the 5 in particular. If it helps you, that said, superb series!

I think that a numbered print can go for between 40K and 55K, if your print is signed with annotation, it can be beyond 85K. As you know, the general condition as well as the provenance will increase the chances of reaching the sky. without forgetting that some like the 11.23 or the 11.31 will go higher than the 11.29 or 11.25... a matter of taste.

Andy Warhol πΊπΈ Real or Fake? β’ Sunday B. Went into the two gallery spaces opposite each other on New Bond St. and was pleasantly surprised. Comprehensive catalogue of his prints on show with some original canvases to boot.

Cheers in advance Bump... any advice would be appreciated Only a small handful are estate stamped, the majority of the unsigned impressions don't have any markings. Probably the authority for Warhol is Richard Polsky, he does a deep dive on prints but charges a grand to do so, probably not worth it for a Cow although will add some value when you come to sell. I'm happy to take a look for you, I've owned a dozen or so over the years, feel free to PM, I may not be able to give you a definitive answer but can point out red flags.

In my opinion this is not an original SBM print from 1970. Although the size is correct and there is a numbering, the stamp Fill in your own signature"' is not correct. This should be "fill in your signature". So without "own". Almost everyone overlooks this.
The other stamp is also incorrect. In old stamps all letters in "published" are separate from each other.

Andy Warhol πΊπΈ Real or Fake? β’ Sunday B. Morning Print, by LJCal on Jun 21, 2024 23:28:57 GMT 1, Also note they are all referred to as Unauthorised. My advice to anyone is not to waste money on these, they are hard to authenticate and very few reputable auction houses or galleries will resell them. If you love want a Marilyn by a replica or one of the blue stamps for Β£100-200. If you want a cheap warhol there are lots of options in the Β£10-20k mark that form body of his official body of work and can be easily resold.

Morning Print, by LJCal on Jul 18, 2024 1:27:01 GMT 1, I would love to learn more about these Warhols and validating they are authentic - is there any resources you can recommend or tips you could share? The catalogue raisonee is a good place to start, then get to know the markings by looking at ones sold at auction, ideally if you can view them in person at a local gallery to get an idea of the colours, paper and ink that's a massive help. Obviously key is to buy from reputable dealers and auction houses where you have recourse, and ideally verify the provenance as much as possible, as far back as possible. For me anyway once I had seen, handled and got familiar with them it made me pretty confident authenticating most, however there is a Warhol expert called Richard Polsky who has become almost the de facto authentication body, he can authenticate most things for a fee if you're unsure. Worth the spend in a lot of cases as not only does it stop you buying a fake but adds to the provenance if it's legit.
