I disagree. Okay, they didn't all sell but 27.5k for an unsigned Laugh Now....happy days!!

The Sotheby's auction also showing some high bids. Global recession or not, it looks like Banksy prints are still on the up.

it wasn’t withdrawn but due to some issues it wasn’t viewable on all platforms. It passed so if its of interest drop Nick a mail ([e-mail]) to discuss aftersales. One sold the day before at £6k hammer as a guide.

Are these GDP Banksy screen prints actually attributed to Banksy as Pest Control won't authenticate them

I believe that receipts from a Chicken Cottage in Croydon are considered a good substitute for a CoA on these.

On the issue of the correct attribution of Banksy Ephemera this is currently under discussion. Artsy have been contacted via Pest Control in a wider effort to address the large number of fakes that feature on their platform. They have asked that all non COA works are designated “After Banksy”.

Pieces such as Boxset’s, Wall Sections which come with receipts which are officially sold by Pest Control/Walled of Hotel are clearly not “After” so how they’re attributed in the long term needs to be decided. In the interim we may change all ephemera to “After Banksy” on Artsy to comply with their request.

All of the ephemera is checked and examined by us pre sale. We value our reputation and the trust buyers place in us so if we’ve listed a work we are confident in its authenticity. Further to that if any work is proven to be fake or counterfeit we will issue a full refund. I hope this reassures any buyers to bid with confidence.

How can you possibly attribute art pieces from the walled off hotel that are sold for a couple hundreds to be Banksy? Other artists are involved with the hotel and the art sold.

Who would you attribute these to if not Banksy? Banksy purposely does not tell you who made the box sets or wall sections, and advertises both products on his own instagram account as his (from his hotel). They come with receipt and are numbered. I don't know why you mention the price, especially since POW sold all Banksy prints for very low prices. If anything, the low retail price is actually a better signal that they are indeed Banksy pieces.

The works are constructed to his design and specification. In the same way most other artists use assistants for large scale production of studio work and other officially sanctioned work.

If you buy a piece of work from a shop that Banksy himself has opened and is selling products should they then be classified as “after banksy”?

What is your view of products from the GDP shop? Some do not come with coa’s and are almost certainly not by Banksy’s hand should they also be classified in the same way as a sticker or poster?

We aim to be as open an transparent as possible with cataloguing of each work. Each buyer must do their own due diligence on any piece they’re considering buying. We are here to help with that process.
