After 4 successful sales with Chiswick, Nick and I have decided it’s time to set up our own. We will continue to partner with Artsy, The Saleroom and Invaluable. However live bidding will be also be possible via our website. Bidding via The Saleroom or Invaluable will incur a 5% online bidding charge. Live bidding direct via our website is free. Making it the cheapest/easiest way to access the auction.
The consignment deadline for this auction is Friday 8th March. If you’re interested in consigning work please contact myself danny@tateward.com or nick@tateward.com
Unframed work can be dropped/collected at our office by appointment we are at Truman Brewery Building 91 Brick Lane London E1 6QL.
Framed and larger work will be handled Pre and Post sale by Cadogan Tate their address is 239 Acton Lane London NW10 7NP.

If anyone has any questions please feel free to ask or drop me a pm/email.
Our wine dept are also currently building their first sale. Along side this we are looking to expand in the following areas, Watches, Jewellery, Fashion + Handbags and Streetwear + Trainers.

Our aim is to present the best possible selection of work for buyers to consider. Our estimates are a reflection of where we think work is valued. They’re not artificially low to guarantee the house sales or artificially high as that is also counter productive and work will not sell. Buyers should inform themselves about anything they’re considering purchasing. I’ll be happy to assist any buyer with questions about work they’re looking to buy.

We had this conversation last March it’s the same lot. I’m happy to discuss provenance with any interested buyer just contact me. The record comes with the inscription on the disk. As it’s framed I’ve not been able to play it to see if there is the bit on the run through that doesn’t play.
Just for the avoidance of doubt any lot which, post sale is proven to be not authentic will be refunded in full. Consigners are not paid for 30 days so this is the window for a buyer to undertake any investigation that couldn’t be done before the auction.

TateWard • Art Auctions 🇬🇧, by daniel3886 on Mar 26, 2019 23:42:29 GMT 1, Shouldn't have to be proven post sale, should be deemed authentic by experts and fit for sale the first time. A few unsold lot transfers... Yours?
It has been deemed authentic hence it’s in the sale. It isn’t mine. We were asked by some consigners to take lots that were unsold in our previous sale. Anything unsold from before is offered with a lower estimate.
That statement is to let buyers know how concerns about authenticity will be dealt with. Our reputation is important, expect us to act with that in mind at all times.

TateWard • Art Auctions 🇬🇧, by NYart on Mar 27, 2019 14:51:06 GMT 1, The two biggest areas of concern for me on the record is the B in blow and the C in record. Only on your example is there only a slit of white in the bubbles of the B, and again only on the sleeve in question is the C larger. Maybe a sloppy spray could explain the B... but that larger C isn’t possible to account for by a bad spray.
At the end of the day it’s your reputation at stake, we don’t have any skin in the game just raising concerns that seem to have merit. Reasonable doubt should be enough to err on the side of caution and not auction it.

Quite a bit I'd fancy too, especially the Howard Hodgkin 'Swimming'. Will add that to my collection one day. Might be in London for a PV next week, so might pop a long to view the lots in person. Very best of luck with it Danny.

Oh that one was yours! I can't say if all the others are real, but they have the same details and spacing. Yours is lacking lots of details in the car and the lettering is all over the place. Before let's say 2010 all copies that turned up had different sharpness and amount of spray, but all had the same detail, and there was no question they were from the same stencil. Since then there has been lots of fakes.
Can you really say that your copy looks like the others?

The level of detail provided in their report gave an in depth description of the print together with a photograph and video. This was invaluable especially when you are unable to attend a viewing.

TateWard • Art Auctions 🇬🇧, by Sundowner on Apr 5, 2019 20:05:14 GMT 1, Had a look round the Tate Ward auction today and can confirm that much the work is in good condition and is organised in the new space in Truman Brewery by artist which makes it much easier to find what you are looking for. Some great pieces to suit all budgets - will be interesting to see how the auction does in this new (and in my opinion), far better and more accessible space.

TateWard • Art Auctions 🇬🇧, by met on Apr 10, 2019 3:13:42 GMT 1, In case any member is considering bidding later today on Lot 469 or Lot 470 — two drawings attributed to Keith Haring — I would discourage them from doing so.
My view is that both are fake and should be withdrawn.
LOT 469
Lot details
Attributed to Keith Haring (American 1958-1990), untitled, 1986, three figures jumping, original drawing on paper, signed and dated in pen; 32.5 x 23.5cm inc frame

LOT 470
Lot details
Attributed to Keith Haring (American 1958-1990), untitled, 1986, three figures on a skate board, original drawing on paper, signed and dated in pen; 23.5 x 32.5cm inc frame

__________
Personal confidence level regarding inauthenticity: Quite certain, to the point where I don't even have to examine documentation that may accompany the works.
What "Quite certain" also means in my case can be illustrated as follows:
- If being right meant I'd win £10,000 and being wrong meant I'd be executed on the spot, I would refuse such a bet.
- But if being right meant I'd win £10,000 and being wrong meant I'd lose £100,000 (and perhaps be forced to sell my home), I'd feel comfortable accepting that bet.
__________
The above position is based on different reasons — including in relation to choice of drawn imagery, style of the figures, linework and quality of the drawings, purported year of creation, and a signature issue (still allowing for known variations in the artist's signature).
Individually, the red flags about authenticity already range from curious or odd to highly suspicious or implausible. And when these red flags are then considered in aggregate, I'm convinced the situation for Lots 469 and 470 becomes irremediable.
Although specifics were withheld in this post to avoid helping scammers produce more convincing fakes in the future, a detailed and comprehensive courtesy email has been sent to Tate Ward for its consideration.
