Forum Auctions, Banksy Marketplace π¬π§, by artlike on Dec 6, 2024 10:11:46 GMT 1, A new low for Banksy prices.
Seems like buying at auction is the way to go as I've not had many offers from my looking to buy posts!

Forum Auctions, Banksy Marketplace π¬π§, by Richy Rich on Dec 6, 2024 10:17:31 GMT 1, I have no idea why anyone would consign with Forum/Bonhams/Roseberys/Tate. Historically their results always seem to be much lower than Sothebys/Christies/Phillips.
I guess maybe the frequency of auctions may swing a few peoples decisions as the bigger boys will likely only have a couple of opportunities to consign throughout the year where as you can get a print in with Tate/Forum almost monthly.
My advice to anyone looking to consign would be to explore the possibility of a private sale firstly and failing that be patient and consign with one of the better established houses.

Seems like buying at auction is the way to go as I've not had many offers from my looking to buy posts! People shouldn't dismiss auction houses as a poor alternative to buying on here. I regularly buy artworks at auction for far less than retail, particularly in the current market. I've picked up some real bargains over the years.

Forum Auctions, Banksy Marketplace π¬π§, by Wanchope on Dec 6, 2024 20:23:14 GMT 1, Yep I see both sides. I too have bought some goodies at auction, but for the bigger ticket items the buyers premium + ARR + delivery is always too much. Tate ward have some nice pieces ending on weds, but the buyers fees, like all auction houses, are putting me off.
On the flip side a lot of forum members ask way too much privately and after ages of trying to sell go off to consign it. Then the auction house talks them into a low reserve and if there is only one bidder, like a lot of recent banksys, you get the lowest point. Then the seller has to pay a fee for the privilege.
So if private sales were a lot more reasonable in their asking prices, they would sell quicker plus probably get a better return??
Just my thoughts
