Been saying this for a long while The Forum Auction format is completely dead. Enticing sellers with shared commission is great but they need bidders but they have zero pull unlike the big four in a market like this where only serious professionals are buying. There are virtually no retail customers at auctions as there is no free cash around so it is the same for all artists but an "only" sale makes it look more pronounced especially with only 8 items in the catalogue.

Shame Forum are a good auction house but have zero imagination..save your reputation please and pack in the Banksy Only!!!!

I watched the auction bidding for a bargain but everything passed bar 2 unsigned, Have a Nice Day and J&J. It was probably the worst Auction I have seen.

Whoever it is really needs to wake up to where things actually are. Currently no one’s coming out of this well.

They have become a laughing stock - the same prints auction after auction. And who bothers with an auction with 7 lots? Why anyone would consign with them beggars belief.

Time they knocked this on the head really, this auction was a complete waste of time for everyone involved. Reserves were clearly too high to tempt buyers, so no one bought or sold. I mean Forum raised sellers the grand total of £28,000, that's the value of Western Super Mare in 2021. Assuming they took all of the BP (which they probably didn't) the auction house would have made £7,000 for Forum, not even enough to cover cataloguing and advertising costs and clearly not a sustainable situation. These would have been far better placed in just a regular prints sale ideally with much lower reserves. Anything more than 1 Banksy sale a year is mental at the moment, there just isn't enough retail demand out there and most dealers have their pick privately and prefer not to give 25% to the auction and 4% away in ARR when they buy and then another when they sell.

Spot on and it’s both! Same happens in the property market, greed( hanging onto a once was overinflated price) coupled with bad advice from the agents to win business. When what the markets actually need is some firm advice to say if you want to actually sell then the price needs to be X amount, end of story! Fingers crossed everyone becomes realistic and then the market will move again .

LV used to post kerboom to every auction result for Banksy when they were doing well, not heard a peep since the drop in prices. Seemed to be bigging up sales that he/she had a vested interest in. Just a very annoying character.
