Forum Auctions, Banksy Marketplace π¬π§, by Jeezuz Jones Snr on Feb 1, 2023 0:06:05 GMT 1, The Forum Auction today clearly had a desperate seller or two realising their "investment" as some of the prices accepted made no sense at all as they were, in many cases, below bottom of the range. I am led to believe that this was due to there being virtually no bidders. In my opinion no sensible seller in this market would sell at these prices or using this auction house unless they were desperate as Forum are rumoured to do deals on sellers premium (0%) and allegedly sharing some of the buyers premium. If you have a Β£50k-250k print get it to Sotheby's, Christies or Phillips as they have the pull. The real shocks for me were NBG, Christ with Shopping bags and Choose Your Weapon (pink). The others sold items were low but not shockingly so, representing more a function of no bid competition. Of the 3 noted above there has been a very poor conditioned Christ With Shopping Bags and CYW floating round the market but even so CWSB which peaked at Β£160k and CYW well over Β£200k at Β£74k and Β£94k respectively they are bargains. Well done to the buyers. I would though be interested if anybody has inspected them or got the condition reports, which in fairness to Forum are usually very accurate and reliable. As a reminder to get what the buyer pays, it's the hammer price plus an average of 34.5% to cover ARR, buyers premium and VAT on buyers premium. Crazy days indeed...add Forum to Bonhams on the list of places to buy Banksy...but don't tell anyone!! Great analysisππ» Agree and I always appreciate your coverage and take on auctions JFCC. Cheers

Forum Auctions, Banksy Marketplace π¬π§, by JFCC on Feb 18, 2023 14:30:46 GMT 1, The problem with Forum running this kind of monthly event is they donβt have a wide enough appeal and reach so that I too believe they are collapsing the market as a result.
The General Public do not know who they are and it is that part of the market that creates the demand. So as a result the crowds at Forum are dwindling with those predominantly biding being investors or galleries all after a steal. Art βprofessionalsβ only want a bargain so bidding is low and there as there are no bidders there simply is not the competitive tension. Some pieces are being sold on one or two bids!!!
Sellers mistakenly believe because Forum claim to be the biggest Banksy sellers they must be good. But volume is the wrong metric to use and further when offered no sellers commission and a share of the buyers premium it seems good to the uninitiated.
This sale has a couple of good pieces in it and it will be interesting to see how they get on. Personally I would not sell some of those items through them. At about the same time Christieβs are also running a sale. The Christieβs reach should see a bit more competitive tension although that said whilst I believe we are near the bottom of the downturn I am not sure there are many retail buyers around. They have put together a big catalogue, again with some excellent works. So whatever your views, with a recent couple of new works from Banksy to bring him back to the fore again, itβs certainly interesting to watch!! Get your popcorn ready!!

All these buyers were ripped off, "Banksy" is a collective that duplicate numbers , falsely date works, spill false narratives and can't even copyright their works. Not to mention the paid media contracts and the blackballing of people they see as a threat. One day all the artists involved will be worth zilch as well.

I have a 1/1 Holy Grail signed by Banksy with an original edition of Romeo and Juliet inscribed on it. It is the ultimate collab. Will be auctioning with Forum once Pest Control issues a COA (already have COA from the Bard and The Sublime Prince of the Royal Secret).

So we are comparing Banksy to Jimmy Saville now, this is going great. Well I need to be somewhere... It's already stated that Banksy is a collective. If you know better and can prove Banksy is indeed one person, then prove the allegations of fraud wrong.
You can't be certain of anything if you don't know who Banksy is.
I actually never made the comparison, I only responded to your charity excuse. But interesting how you perceived it that way.
