Bast Show โข Scenario Del Rio โข Sept 2011, by jusdeep on Sept 8, 2011 13:37:43 GMT 1, On another note, why has this thread been moved to the Bast section when it's an interesting show coming up next week? For all that's hole'ee should it not be in the main section still!? Mutter, mutter, frown and some more muttering.
True, trueโฆ Ahhhh, but Bast is like Marmite and Mods like Jam.

Commission Pieces - Metal? FINISHED!!!, by jusdeep on Sept 7, 2011 13:57:42 GMT 1, I'd go for wood with MB. I kinda find their pieces on metal a little too clinical and there's always the risk of scratching.

Commission Pieces - Metal? FINISHED!!!, by jusdeep on Sept 7, 2011 8:34:01 GMT 1, I have pieces on both but it would definitely depend on the medium they use, their style and of course their preference (as above). Wood can add to a piece, showing the grain or a pre-printed pattern through the artwork making it more gritty. For an example I would prefer a Xenz on metal and a C215 on wood, but if it's a rusty old sign and the artwork compliments the material then all change. A clue to the artist would certainly help.

Circular Framing โข Round Frames, by jusdeep on Aug 23, 2011 22:17:53 GMT 1, Lol, interesting idea. The artwork needs to be kept intact because of the signature on the verso. A square frame with a circular mount or inset would work. I'm sure I've seen some artists similar to Tin with double frames, but can't find anything online.

What do you do when you run out of wallspace?, by jusdeep on Aug 19, 2011 13:03:30 GMT 1, I'm always running out of wall space. But find rotating and clustering works for me. You have to mix it up a lot, but if you are selective with what you put together, colours and frame styles you can get good results.

Your latest Art Purchase?, by jusdeep on Aug 17, 2011 9:12:51 GMT 1, Love the Saber rkitek. Good to see the Hirst framed as well Skitchy - mines at the framers at present. Stinkfish was in London. I met up with him before he went to Amsterdam. I think he's heading off to Barcelona soon, then back to Columbia - he just popped back to London for a week. Glad you eventually got the Met Police badge Coach, looks nice all framed up.

Framing Prices - I feel like I am getting gouged., by jusdeep on Aug 1, 2011 13:55:47 GMT 1, The Museum glass alone would cost that without the frame, mounts and framers costs. My old Ratatouille cost between ยฃ250-280, deep white box frame (2" around), UV glass to give you an idea of price. It could be that you've paid too much or just chosen a very expensive frame.

Boxi * Time Of The Signs @Lazarides 29th July 2011, by jusdeep on Jul 29, 2011 18:13:18 GMT 1, Yes, stencils are just a tool, but there are very few artists who can expertly accomplish a multi-layered stencil with this level of skill. I was just pointing out a few of them as a way of validating my opinion. Probably there was no need to do this, but there are many people on this forum who may not be aware ofโฆ say Kenji or Logan Hicks for instance. My opinion was more related to the fact I have seen the majority of works on the street for some time, at CG and other international galleries and it would have been nice to see something refreshingly new for his first UK solo show. I am not dissing his work or his skill, as I said initially I like his work and hope he does well.

Boxi * Time Of The Signs @Lazarides 29th July 2011, by jusdeep on Jul 29, 2011 17:27:42 GMT 1, I don't share your opinion here, not at all. I am not asking you to share my opinion - It is my opinion, not yours. After all the art world would be a very boring place if everyone shared the same tastes in work and opinions.
Boxi really has his own style. I can spot a Boxi canvas among many other artists. So can I, he does have his own style, I never said he didn't.
He used to use those subjects (and many others if you remember the curtains he did not so long ago) since a long time now but always difficult to know who was first. I remember the curtains and other pieces he has done previously. I was mearly commenting on the Laz show which this thread is about.
You cannot compare to Kenji Nakayama (same realistic style but Kenji does not paint people, only cities, cars, etc. His art is a bit cold I think. Said "Reflection Returnal" was exceptional. I wish I had one of those canvas), Whatson (I do not even see what we should try to compare... because of the buffer? C'mon) or Orticanoodles (again, absolutely not the same style). Please find where I compared them? I was mearly commenting that you could buy equally proficient, multi-layered stencil far more affordably. I could have added a whole bunch of artists to the list, nowhere did I compare their skill.

Boxi * Time Of The Signs @Lazarides 29th July 2011, by jusdeep on Jul 29, 2011 11:34:13 GMT 1, The show was great and Boxi definitely has some skill, some fantastic pieces in general, especially the larger canvas'. If I am honest though I'm a little tired of the subjects he uses in his work. I've seen it all before done by many other artists and Boxi himself for many years now and for the money you could buy work from equally proficient stencil artists such as Kenji Nakayama, Whatson, Orticanoodles and many others.
