WTB: DAMIEN HIRST 'TURPS BANANA' ED.75, by jusdeep on Nov 15, 2011 14:51:41 GMT 1, I was under the impression being one of the first people in the queue that it was cash only. I could be wrong but I didn't see a card machine.

EINE PRINT 'SOMETHING WICKED WILL COME', by jusdeep on Nov 15, 2011 14:41:42 GMT 1, I quite like both prints, but 650 for a digital print is just to much money, even for the edition.

Augustine Kofie ๐บ๐ธ Exhibition News โข New Print Release , by jusdeep on Nov 10, 2011 20:19:58 GMT 1, Images of the work look fantastic and as a whole are incredibly strong. If I hadn't bought a similar piece a few months ago I would have this time around. I wouldn't know which to choose mind.

Olympics Prints- Riley/Hodgkin etc, by jusdeep on Nov 4, 2011 15:20:18 GMT 1, Really like the Hodgkin, Hume and Riley although my bank manager won't. As you said Strangers the Riley is a very good size for the money but I guess the most popular out of the bunch.

Fragments of Faile - Lazarides London - 3rd Nov, by jusdeep on Nov 4, 2011 13:13:27 GMT 1, I would have far preferred one of the post no bills pasters which is unlimited and only $10 to this ยฃ45 print. I just feel if you want to make a cheap print so your art is accessible you may as well make it a decent image the majority would like. Personally I hated the look of the post no bills posters. These ยฃ45 prints really are just like their full priced prints. Same thick paper, same thick layered screen printing (not like the POW prints. More like their own). Only difference is no coffee stains or hand painting. Bargain!
Likewise on all counts.

Fragments of Faile - Lazarides London - 3rd Nov, by jusdeep on Nov 4, 2011 11:16:04 GMT 1, Jeez there's some bitter people on here this morning with lots of negative comments. You may not like the show but I personally liked the majority of the work. I always like it when an artist such as Bast or Faile make a jump in a new direction. You may not like it every time, but if you did they'd still be producing the same work as ten years ago and would be chastised for not doing anything fresh.
I much prefer this body of work to Faile's Native Indian and Bedtime stories series, but always relish their earlier works, which if I had the money would always go for over any of their work over the last 3 or 4 years.
Affordable book covers, signed prints, blocks (which in my opinion are far stronger than their other releases) and a new direction in their originals. People on here have to remember an artists career spans over many years and this show, whether you like it or not is a nanosecond in their hopefully long career. Great show, always good when it divides and brings up some interesting debate, but stop with the hating.

Bastardilla in London, by jusdeep on Nov 2, 2011 11:31:48 GMT 1, The piece outside Cargo is fantastic, every time I pass it I have to stop and admire. What you probably can't tell from the photo is all the diamond shapes are reflective or glass.

Paul Insect "Triptease Revue" at Post No Bills, by jusdeep on Nov 1, 2011 23:07:50 GMT 1, Images look great and the preview is pretty tasty too. I wouldn't say his prices are overrated at all. Paul's been around for years and has been at the forefront of this movement for many years. Always pushing boundaries and responsible for many a street artists rep. He's one of the most creative artists in this scene in my opinion.

New Charming Baker, Jamie Hewlett etc, by jusdeep on Nov 1, 2011 11:28:49 GMT 1, The Baker at AAF did look very nice, some of the others I found quite disappointing. There's also a show from 2-23 November. Rochelle School, Arnold Circus, London. E27ES Mon-Fri 12-8pm Sat & Sun 10-6pm
Some great artists including Polly Morgan, Sir Peter Blake, Ralph Steadman, Xenz, Norman Ackroyd, Margaret Atwood, Charming Baker, Pete Fowler, Jamie Hewlett, Lucy McLauchlan, Edwyn Collins to name but a few.

Rook and Raven - You Rest You Rust, by jusdeep on Oct 30, 2011 10:48:55 GMT 1, Jusdeep, just picking up on your point re framing. Do you think standard UV glass would have been better / the way to go? I'm having a couple of his larger pieces framed at the moment and caught the museum glass bug a few years ago, I hate reflection!
I don't have a problem with museum glass (some pieces definitely warrant spending the extra money), it's just with non reflective perspex. I personally find it doesn't lend itself to smaller pieces like Penny's notes. You lose a lot of clarity. You will possibly see what I mean when you visit the gallery or it won't be something that bothers you.

Rook and Raven - You Rest You Rust, by jusdeep on Oct 29, 2011 8:21:20 GMT 1, Thanks for the insight. Although personally I feel the fact that the canvas were section framed with the centre divide would have surficed. Just my opinion of course but feel that this alone would have lent itself to the 'In Section title'.
I did find a lot of the framing, or rather glassing at the show perplexing. I really didn't think the Penny pieces worked using non reflective glass/perspex. To me Penny's work is so fine and intricate that using this method of framing made his smaller work hard to view and in general it makes works look like bad reproductions (obviously not). Giving the art a blurry effect, losing detail - almost as if the glass is covered with a film of oil or just needs a good clean. Great show and space though.

Bastardilla in London, by jusdeep on Oct 29, 2011 8:05:55 GMT 1, Not sure about this one, I do generally like her work. What was under it was a far better piece imo and had become part of the scenery. I guess someone was going to do it at some stage and it was pretty tagged up.

DJ Krafty Kuts @ Londonโs Cable nightclub, by jusdeep on Oct 27, 2011 22:38:34 GMT 1, Amazing line-up. I was thinking about it for my 40th, although I think most of my mates are a bit long in the tooth and a cosy meal is more likely to be on the cards.
