I assumed as i hadnt heard since I emailed that they werent selling the campbells prints at the moment. I also noticed on their website they have Marilyn, Mao and Flowers prints shown but no Campbells. I stand corrected and have emailed them again. I will let you know what happens Many thanks

Andy Warhol πΊπΈ Real or Fake? β’ Sunday B. Morning Print, by fool4faile on Oct 17, 2008 17:33:07 GMT 1, darhart, you took a quote from me and commented on it. but the MAIN THING in my reply was "SOME PEOPLE CANNOT ACCEPT THAT WARHOL IS DEAD"- let's face it, HE DIED 1987 and people that worked with him/for him just kept on doing the same things over and over again, but it is 2008!!! even in THIS THREAD mr.kaufman's work was only mentioned as an affordable way of getting a "quasi-warhol"! i really pity all his assistants because there is no way for them to get out of the shadow of the big master warhol, it must be hard for them, but on the other hand none of them does anything to develop another/their own/not warhol-associated style!
and, back to anthoz' original question: you should really try to get a sunday b. morning from the original run with the BLACK stamps verso. the coolest of the cool would be to have a sunday b. morning from the first run, warhol knew about them, although they are "fake" strictly speaking, but there ARE copies around (i think on the "flowers"-suite that was the first produced by them)on which warhol himself added "this is not by me. andy warhol"- i think this reflects the adjustment of warhol that darhart refers to above in the best possible way. and of course this is part of the warhol-myth that makes him relevant to this very day. imho those with the added "this is not by me. andy warhol" are even more desirable than the "original" run.

Andy Warhol πΊπΈ Real or Fake? β’ Sunday B. Morning Print, by lobster on Mar 4, 2009 14:55:11 GMT 1, Hi -
If you mean the Warhol soup cans editions I looked into these when I bought my Warhol a year or so ago
Also PLEASE bear in mind I am no expert and I am sure their are other members on here that can add / correct me.
Basically Warhol created an initial series (around 1968 ?) of 10 soups which were some of the varieties available at the time - this is now referred to as "Soup 1" - then as it proved so popular he then created another 10 varieties now known as "Soup2" (innovative mind at work !!!) They are all editions of 250 and also contained (from memory) 26AP in each edition.
Soup 1 tend to be more desiarable as they are considered very much the original series and also contains "Tomato" which is by FAR both the most desiarable / expensive simply because it was what Warhol apparently ate most days when he was younger and is also one of the most popular foods in America - this print is as much as 3 times the cost of any of the others and you are probably looking around $50K even in this market.Second most desirable is probably "Chicken Noodle" and from their its just personal preference.
I am well out of touch on prices but I would ahve thought you are looking at SOMEWHERE around Β£15K + for a decent soup 1 series and maybe Β£10K plus for a soup 2 - one thing with Warhols is the condition can vary greatly.
I ended up buying a print form the "Myths" series and still have some contacts so if you PM me I will forward them.
Hope this helps

so much of art is inspired by other peoples ideas, its great. ALso I feel that the relationship to prints we have nowadays would not be as such if it wasnt for warhol and the other pop artists.

Andy Warhol πΊπΈ Real or Fake? β’ Sunday B. Morning Print, by lee3 on Mar 4, 2009 17:09:32 GMT 1, The 5000 soup cans (20 different soups) done in 2 series (2500 each) measuring the same size one year apart used to range in price on average $12k to 30k at auction. Double those at retail. They are in every single Christie's and Sotheby's print auctions and are anything but rare. Tomato carries the biggest premium. If I were a buyer, I would not pay more than $8k (US) for a signed Warhol soup can in this market. Many of the soup cans have been getting bought in at auction lately so it's a buyers market. The estimate ranges have been $12-15k with no luck. I'd poke around the usual suspects for prices but suspect you are far better off sourcing this image at auction then retail. This may be of some interest:

It's a hilarious read on the interdealings in the art market including some wonderful stories and jaw dropping prices as he's been dealing Warhol since the late 70s. It's very easy reading and a lot of fun too. I'm anxious to get a read on the new book (i sold Andy Warhol...too soon) as Richard told me there is a story in there about my wife and I. He's mentioned the new book will have some stories about collectors who have been at it for 40 years and collectors like us who have been at it for merely 10. Obviously, those of us in the latter category have never lived through an art correction until this past October so I believe this one will touch on the euphoria of the market but believe it was finished prior to the October crash. I can say without hesitation that Richard knows the Warhol (and the rest of the contemporary market) extremely well and he has taught us much over the years and we've sourced a number of Warhol's with his aid. If anyone is looking to source a specific image, it may be worth it to drop him a line and get his thoughts and see if he can help. He's gotten more for my money with that artist that anyone though I've never used him for prints ( obviously many do). Still, worth a shot nonetheless. I should add I have no incentive whatsoever but he's a good guy.

Andy Warhol πΊπΈ Real or Fake? β’ Sunday B. Morning Print, by snausages on Mar 11, 2009 17:50:47 GMT 1, This is one of my favorite affordable Warhol prints: cgi.ebay.com/Andy-Warhol-Vote-McGovern-1972-sig-num_W0QQitemZ200316796804
The price on this auction is about average though and the condition isn't 100% so I wouldn't go much higher than the opening bid. But this print pops up time to time for under $5000 at auction houses. I guess not too many people want a picture of Nixon on their wall. Personally I like the colors and love the humour and irony in the message, one of Warhol's most Banksy like prints.

No Sunday B's please
what can I offer ?
More Banksy than you can shake a stick at
the rat quintet, trolleys, Naplams, VM, Moneky Queens, J&J....the lsit is endless..some signed, all immacualte & POW checked
Would sell some/all of these insolent puppies should a realistically priced Warhol suppe come along
Obviously I would prefer to keep the banksy, but am willing to mix it up a bit to get what I want

There have been plenty on artnet as of late and am sure that both Christie's and Sotheby's will have a few in their upcoming April print auction. They've been getting bought in at $12k US with regularity as of late. If I were a buyer, I wouldn't pay more than $8k for anything other than Tomato which gets a hefty premium but nowhere near the $30-50k it once traded for. My *guess* is Tomato would cost you around $20k these days.
