I think the word "troll" is bandied about far to liberally these days.
It seems to be used to describe anyone one does not agree with.
If art is promoted on an art forum, as a commercial venture, is it not open to critique, whether that be regarding its originality, quality, or even whether the style of the signature has been plagiarised?

To be fair though, there are lots of artists that don't participate on here that still take flak from members regarding their artwork.

People are people. They hold up the things they admire and tear down and piss on the things they don't.

Artists have had to endure criticism since the first bison was drawn on a cave wall. No conspiracy. No market manipulation. Just opinion. Sometimes overenthusiastic. Sometimes unnecessarily personal. Which I think is pointless and unhelpful. But it's just opinion.

I think JBoy should put down the spray can and pop on here to engage with his fans from time to time. Perhaps undo some of the negativity and answer some of the question regarding his work.

Too often, artists on here gain some success and then leave, never to post again, except for advertising their latest release. Because who can be bothered with the hassle and opinions are bad for business.

But I think sometimes it's good to reach out and touch your fans. Not in a 1970s BBC way though.

And most people believe that FR is JBoy, and he takes a bit of stick for that. It might be nice if JBoy came out and took some heat off him.

Anyway, this is all just my opinion. No harm, no fowl.

I think many artists get judged by their character or beliefs, rather than their Art.
But saying that, I myself wouldn't buy from some artists because of their attitude, but the difference is that I understand that's just my personal view of that person and I don't feel the need to troll threads about them
We all have the choice not to buy from an Artist for whatever reason we personally decide.

Kate Bush recently said some nice things about Theresa May.

Now, I happen to like a bit of Kate Bush music, so I now have to separate the art from the artist.

Some will choose not to do that or can't do that.

But on an art forum, there has to be something between "If you haven't got anything nice to say, then don't say anything" and "Stop trolling, stop trolling, you're all just haters, haters, you're all just haters".

The best artists push back in the face of criticism.

Time will usually tell if a person is an artist or a person looking to make money out of art.

 It's all relatively relative in relative terms relative to the market relevance of whatver whoveres vested interests are relative to their reason for buying or promoting what they see as relavant to them.

  Blek and Rene Gagnon made art which some alledge Banky copied or used their idea afterwards.

 Damien Hirst copied or was accused of plagiarism. Fairey too and Koons.

  All art is open to criticism. In particular art which has a social or political message which appeals to certain people and the artist or gallery etc uses socio political messages as a selling point.
