Shepard Fairey - Soup Can III, by robotbad on Sept 10, 2009 16:55:31 GMT 1, it would seem with each new iteration of the soup can in this series the overal value of the series falls - so I'm not sure how they justify upping the price with each?

Shepard Fairey - Soup Can III, by rosstierney on Sept 10, 2009 17:11:14 GMT 1, In terms of point 2, someone on Facebook noted that the web-site had changed (and was theoretically password enabled) several minutes before the password was announced. He even said 'Wait for it', or something along those lines, and said that the site had changed when questioned on it. I can't remember who it was (as everything was deleted), but he did have a distinctive photo. I could work it out if I go through the (dwindling) Fan listing.
hi melmoth, i can explain that. the change that the guy witnessed was the removal of a bold blue paragraph. he posted based on presumption that the can was about to drop & he was right. the password facility had been present for weeks & was probably active all along.

Fair enough.

Shepard Fairey - Soup Can III, by Michael Jacob on Sept 10, 2009 18:40:46 GMT 1, melmoth and ross, it was me who posted the site changed. I was tracking it, and noticed the paragraph with the september date had been removed (like ross said). It did release shortly after that. I was there within seconds (im guessing less than 2 or 3). It said $250, I clicked buy and it shot up to $750. I didnt have that much money, so NO SOUP FOR ME!
What a miserable day it was.

Yeah but they're still just prints aren't they, gonna take a lot more than that to overshadow what Iconoclast have done for ''the scene'' (see beautiful losers etc)

Shepard Fairey - Soup Can III, by mutant on Sept 12, 2009 21:16:28 GMT 1, I am one of the more fortunate collectors who bought a soup can 3 for the opening price of $250. Personally I have had a great experience with IC. They have been very professional and accommodating my requests. I can't speak for others but this is my personal experience. Best wishes to those who are interested in one of these. It's a great print, IMO.

Not fishy at all. I have absolutely no ties to Iconoclast. I am just extremely lucky with these print drops. I really did have great experiences with IC. Just my personal experience.

Shepard Fairey - Soup Can III, by eyectopus on Sept 13, 2009 12:10:27 GMT 1, Bought the Henry Chalfant Dondi Photo. Got stung on postage and again on tax. Postage and tax was nearly the same price of the piece itself. Want to get the Kell and Futura one but I am not going to pay extras for it. It is $150 cheaper than the Dondi was also. Was going to go for the Soup Can but was put off by the extras.

Hmmmmmm, so how many other people here got it at 250, 350, 500 or 600? Anyone?

Shepard Fairey - Soup Can III, by mutant on Sept 13, 2009 17:29:58 GMT 1, I am not here to defend Iconoclast. I am just here to provide others with my experience with this particular gallery.
Again, I consider myself very lucky to purchase SC3 at the opening price and certainly hope I will have another opportunity to do so with SC4. You are correct that I had to act fast. This was the same experience I had with Josh Keye's entagle prints although I went empty-handed.
To be more specific, Iconoclast accommodated my request regarding shipping dates and edition number request. I cannot speak about their pricing structure. All I can say is that they have been very helpful and professional with my purchase. Personally I would still purchase art pieces from Iconoclast. Again, just my personal experience.

Shepard Fairey - Soup Can III, by mutant on Sept 13, 2009 22:18:40 GMT 1, Oh, I guess it is true that we live in a cynical little world. I can see why it is difficult for some folks to see where I come from, especially on an anonymous forum. In any case, I have no bad intentions. All I want to share with others is my personal experience with this gallery. Just to entertain your request, here is the confirmation email that I received from Iconoclast: ---------------------------------------------------------- Order Results
Transaction ID: ****** Date / Time: 9/9/2009 1:57:38 PM Transaction Type: SALE Approval Message: APPROVAL Approval Code: ******
Order Information
Amount: 292.81 Card Number: ****** Expiration Date (mmyy): ****** Customer Code: 1 Sales Tax: 0 ----------------------------------------------------------
Although a lively discussion, this subject matter gets old quickly. Just to reiterate, I had a good experience with Iconoclast and I would purchase from them again. I look forward to Shep's SC4 release.
