Miss Bugs 5th June Brighton, by felix on Jun 7, 2008 0:16:03 GMT 1, I won't explain the joke as it was real bad taste I'll hope Scavos does it.
By the way this is Dan Baldwin
Awesome artist who sells originals by the bucketload, but gets knocked because he doesn't sell out prints and is not flippable IMO
But then again I would say that as I own his work (but I do mean it).

Miss Bugs 5th June Brighton, by Billy Sport on Jun 7, 2008 1:09:55 GMT 1, hi all, discussion is good, this is what forums are all about,
I agree with a lot of what has been said rE: pricing, very toppy but personally since finding out about MBs work, I have really wanted an original and love the prints they have released . what i didnt expect was such a scrum at the pre preview, so I wondered about, looked at the pieces that were getting overlooked, (eyecharts, elvira, miss universes) chatted to Lindsay and (cant remember guys name upstairs with glasses, but nice and helpful) and obviously the missus, before buying the one I liked, although price made me stall for a bit.
I've been trying to get a commission from MB for a few months, glad I got one, not glad that I'll now have to sell one of my kidneys, or trim my print collection to pay of my CC bill.

Miss Bugs 5th June Brighton, by pezlow on Jun 7, 2008 7:18:51 GMT 1, I try not to comment too much on stuff I don't like because it is not very productive but I have to say that this work looks absolutely terrible. I know we all have different tastes and to those who like it fair play but when you take into account the derivative nature of the work and the enormously high price point it is certainly not for me.
It really puzzles me that people can be moaning about the price of the recent faile release yet snapping up this stuff as if it was going out of style. We need a serious reality check. And for people who are spending the price of a small family car on a Hush canvas or a Miss Bugs lego piece (WTF!) I hope you can afford to lose it.

Well, to be fair to Miss Bugs, their prints are normally small editions of 30, hand finished and they normally charge Β£90 - Β£125, so I'm not sure the Faile release comparisons are fair. Also, much as I love the new Faile release (have ordered), it's also a pretty derivative piece!

We just splashed out nearly Β£400 on our new family motor, one of them Hush canvases could keep us on the road for 10 years

Exactly
Totally sold out of his original works, they sell as fast as he can produce them. A show coming up with Forster later this year and I imagine another sell out of originals...
Just a shame he's out of my price range with them

Miss Bugs 5th June Brighton, by dogant on Jun 8, 2008 11:22:57 GMT 1, Interesting point...although the prints from the show will not be sent out for a little while, so its really hard to judge if its become a flip free zone. Matching numbers went to people who purchased originals and the first 10 to Q - so again, you would not expect that many to go onto the secondary market too early - although the price could be used to mop up the high original costs? Add that to the MB policy of "flip and we won't sell to you again" - this could do the trick (after all - only about 3 Lego Monster of spins have been ebayed so far). Lets wait and see....... Hey Dogent, you are right, lets wait and see. I might be completely wrong, and if so, will hold my hands up. But... not having prints in hand has not stopped flippers in the past - how often have we read that print will be sent when recieved from the gallery (or more often, pow)?
I amend....2 sets of 3 prints are now on ebay - and one set is being advertised on the forum...
So, it appears people have purchased the prints to pay for the high priced originals - which, in honesty, I was thinking about doing - but bottled with the original prices.

IMO....the prints on display looked smaller than the edition I own (lego, monster of spin)....I guess we will have to wait and see.....or email the sellers on ebay and ask them!!
