You just gotta love lukas, always backing me up 😻 I support things that I believe are correct and right. If you go and look they say they have a certificate issued... "Included (issued by the authorized authentication body)".
It is not the work of Banksy in my opinion nor of the PC-Banksy office.

If you go and look they say they have a certificate issued... "Included (issued by the authorized authentication body)". It is not the work of Banksy in my opinion nor of the PC-Banksy office. Interesting. It says it has a “Signature: Hand-signed by artist.” And a “Certificate of authenticity Included (issued by authorized authenticating body)” yet not which authorized authenticating body. It also says they are in Brighton (where the all famous Jo Brooks is settled), and it also says “While many COAs are signed by the artist, others will be signed by the representing gallery or the printmaker who collaborated with the artist on the work. For secondary market works, authorized estates or foundations are often the issuing party.”. I think Lukas, you are spot on yet again.

If the certificate is not from Pest Control, it means that it is not an original work by Banksy. Pest Control is the only authorized certification office. The rest is just an attempt to make money behind Banksy's back.

And I add that in that sale on "artsy", there is no mention of Pest Control certification in their description.

No idea why they didn't see them at the show, plenty that went did.

Banksy VIP show Feb’24 print , by Deleted on Jun 4, 2024 8:27:11 GMT 1, At least VIPs get to have new works, power to the people eh 🤦♂️ what a shame Maybe the funds raised will be put towards funding more public/street artworks and the like for the people and/or whatever charitable work/endeavours he has in mind. To be fair at this stage it makes more to sense to invite a lot of already known collectors/buyers to raise funds. Simplifies things when they're already juggling a lot. Seemed more of a fundraiser than a "Banksy Show". Going into confirmed collections should prevent as many hitting the market. There's no real benefit to putting prints out for the people from an efficiency/financial perspective, although what it does is create a lot of buzz and excitement, keeping it fun for all. The 0.01% chance of getting a Banksy. The market could do with a bit of an injection of fun again. Hopefully they clear up the GDP and general coas before moving on to the coas for the new prints and photographs.

But as far as I'm concerned if that work of art doesn't have a Pest Control certificate it's not authorized by Banksy. This is my thought.
As to whether Banksy can help the least fortunate and the least fortunate, I am sure he will continue to do so.
Does the GDP issue need to be clarified? Why should it be clarified or rather what should be clarified? GDP has already been over for a long time.

Banksy VIP show Feb’24 print , by Georgie Poppit on Jun 4, 2024 8:44:43 GMT 1, You can see why his market has tanked if he’s only selling through exclusive, private ‘behind closed doors’ events to VIPs. I wonder what genius at Pest Control came up with that idea. Goes against everything he originally stood for. Pathetic. Up there with John Lydon advertising butter.

To be fair the commercial art doesn't and never has appeared to be his main focus/care. More of a means to an end. It raises money to fund the stuff he wants to do and I would think is more passionate about. I can't imagine the money end of it is something he's ever been overly comfortable with. Or many other things the way they played out. No doubt he's had to bend a knee a few times over the years against his beliefs/ideals. He's probably troubled by a lot of things he can't/couldn't control. Collectors care more about his commercial art than he does I would imagine. The commercial side has done well because it wasn't managed by the artist.

Originals and small series editions have always sold to collectors/VIPs (except the GDP lottery). It's nothing new and I see nothing wrong with that.
When did you have an opportunity of buying an original from source (even if you could afford it)?
The collectors are funding his different projects and to some extent the print releases to the general public.
