They dont live in a flat in hackney thats for sure. stop worrying about it. Seeing it in person, there really are not many places with ceilings that high. It certainly limited the pool of buyers I think. Show me the Monet is beautiful and big and very wall friendly, i e over that to go for over £10mil.

My interpretation of badcollector's post is that it was knowing, a humorous commentary on the skill set of Martin Whatson.
First, it made me chuckle. But shortly afterwards I realised the stained glass windows by the schoolchildren were actually more interesting and also better executed than any work I've seen by Whatson himself.
A moment of melancholy ensued.

Yeah, it was funny seeing at the end of a page full of Magritte, Picasso, Pollock... Good price I suppose. Dont know what they go for these days... Great puzzle for the ultra rich I suppose.

I wonder if the school children were advised by the artist/organization on what to paint?
i can see a bit of a descending rainbow from the top, or did banksy do the final layer (in thicker width)to create that effect?

Do you not understand that most of the bidding is done pre-auction? If not by commission bids then by telephone line reservations, items that have been saved to peoples watch list, pre-registration for bidding, condition report enquiries etc etc. The market is the issue. |
