It’s a subjective view obviously and ultimately people frequently get it wrong (me 100% included), but I tend to ask the question will an artist still be relevant in 20 or 50 years time and will there works still be on display in major museums, I think 2-3 of the artists you have named would probably fall into a similar bracket as her.

im not a fan of stik, but I'd wager a bet that Banksy, George Condo, Julie Curtiss and Katherine Bradford will definitely be relevant. Possibly Katherine Bernhardt too considering she's already been at to for 2 decades.

I see Stik included in group retrospective shows that highlight the scene. Just my opinion, but I’ve studied art history, and have gone to galleries, shows and museums in NYC and around the world for too many decades.

It looks like Condo was one of 4 names you mentioned? If not I’m confused. Regardless, a connoisseur of art with a knowledge of Art History will depend less on a crystal ball and time machine, which would btw answer many more questions than just potential art valuations!

No, but I’ve made some wise choices. We seem to have a misunderstanding, I seem to think you mentioned a handful of names that may be relevant down the road, best to move on. I’ll bet most in the assorted art fields have an art education background, including many of the artists followed here. And a number of members here may consider themselves “connoisseurs”, perhaps not using a $10 word.

Each to their own; we all have artists we like who others hate; etc etc etc, but what do people see in her work?

It's not well painted, she uses colour poorly, and her choice of subjects is so incredibly basic. I can't get a sense of what she's even going for. Her point of view seems really confused, veering between celebrating consumerism and pop culture and really clumsy political messaging. What is an artist whose work spans cigarettes, The Pink Panther, Colin Kaepernick, cheeseburgers & Nike Air Max, and 'Save The Rainforest' even getting at? It's so muddled.


On top of that, do her editions ever sell out? It's so so weird that she's considered important by anyone.

Her painting aside these large editions that don't sell out is a really bizarre long term business strategy. There's absolutely no scarcity to her work at all and i can't imagine any urgency to pick up one of these prints. There are still mountains of her previous releases available at primary.
