Nope, dont think it was planned. This looks like another moment where RETNA was “off his meds” again and went beefing with PTA. First post looked like he was upset about something, refused to sign the prints and jacked up the price as an f-you. Then a post saying he cutting ties with PTA.. why would PTA sign up for some BS stunt like that? Makes no sense.

Im sure someone later from RETNAs camp will try and claim its a stunt like they do anytime he goes off the rails.

Agree with Stelio, I think he’s a loose cannon! I could be wrong, but I don’t see this “helping” his career at all.

And if it sells out immediately, it’s only because 30 galleries snap them up, to then re-sell later. It it was a run of 99, it would sit longer than the last release.

His IG presence has really turned me off his art.

Maybe it's because I work with social media in most of my jobs that I understand the positive of creating negative more than most people.. Look at 50 percent of current celebs, they're feeding off a once negative situation..

I'd love to see demographics on UK Vs us, and ages of people thinking this is real or fake.. I'm not young but working with social media as the young do, you'd be shocked what u see and how well it works

You make valid points my friend and I agree with you on the aspect of how much traction a negative campaign can gain over time. He like many have had success on feeding hate, sexism and overall just pure negativity. Its fuel for many.

Does he make random post at times to make hype... yes. Does that help him with followers and hype... yes.

Bipolar disorder aside, I think his work stays fresh for some reason. He uses different color schemes and alternate ways of presenting his personal language that he created. I was always drawn to Egyptian hieroglyphics when I was younger so maybe thats why it resonates with me. There's a clean elegance to the calligraphy that's usually there. Even though I have no idea what it says, that ambiguity works especially since he barely makes sense when he's writing in English.

When you compare his work to Cripta Djan, you can see how generally each RETNA work feels different, while Cripta Djans looks identical to each other and messy.

P.S. Max is an intelligent, handsome man.
