I'm totally turned off it now that I have been enlightened regarding his antics. Definitely not adding any of his new work to my collection.
Because he is and incredibly talented painter with his originals being absolutely stunning in real life. His commercial partnerships with LV and Vista etc also help. I think his stock will continue to rise
Obviously he has his issues and I do not agree with all of his antics but he is an artist, let him be a bit crazy and raw. There is a reason the likes of LV and LA olympic committee work with him
I do not own any of his work but do love his talent.

Back in the early forums days, the work of Jose Parla blew me away. Retna, on the other hand, I strongly disliked (still do). Both were talked about in the same conversations, given the 'urban calligraphy' vibe through both. Retna seemed to run up and up, while Parla has stumbled with galleries and auctions (though, not with public installations. he has absolutely killed on that front).
Still have love for Parla's work, though a definite preference for 2005-2009 or so as opposed to current work.

Think you would struggle to find a Retna canvas for under $20k. This one hasnโt got the depth if some of his latest work but the black on white is his go to and looks amazing

Agree, and the one of 250 had more substance imo than the rest, they seemed to have less design/detail as they went up in price and lower in edition. |

As it stands, the expensive, middle priced ones aren't as nice as the previous skate editions, now available for similar prices on eBay (and remaining unsold!)
