I loved the couple of large paintings I saw in Maddox a couple of months ago. Well out of my price range so I never need to worry about separating the art from the Artist. His IG is comedy though, putting people on blast left right and centre.

Apart from his non-stop rants against various artists that are more famous and more talented than he is, he has also been prosecuted for beating up his girlfriend and threatening art gallery owners. The guys a p*ick!

That's a very valid point!   I am amazed at his IG.   It reminds me of an 9th grader who is illiterate, hopped up on drugs, reaching puberty and was raised to get whatever he wanted.   

But seriously...how do you all read what he writes?  It is like a misspelled word, then another misspelled word, followed by a jumbled run on sentence with words that aren't even real, followed by another misspelled word.  And apparently it is a shout out to his other friends who cannot read and write.

The question that begs to ask though, is why would you support someone who you admittedly strongly dislike?

If anything the artist is more directly effected and have their actions validated by an individuals support or lack there of than a business or corporation would be.

Imagine if social media was a thing whilst Pablo Picasso was alive? An absolute monster of a man by many accounts....didn't stop him becoming one of the most famous artists in history.

*and NO I'm not saying Retna and Picasso's work are of equal standard, although I certainly wouldn't turn down an original painting or print by either of them just cause they're not who I would want to personally hang out with or know.

 Retna is far from a good artist. He just has good promotion and that's the way it has been in the art dealing world for many decades. He knows who to upset and be violent against and who not to upset in order to not get black balled.

 He is a t**t. His instagram is bull shit.

 He alledgedly threatened gallery staff when he did this latest tantrum and the gallery has a duty to protect it's staff if they do not want a law suit. The police were called in. I don't know if by the gallery or by the staff and in reality the gallery "should" press charges against Retna for vandalism.

 He is out of control and alledgedly threatens people who stop by his studio and take photos of his art on outside walls.

 I wonder if Retna is a gun owner ? I wonder if he drives a car ?

   On the bright side, Bank Robber, Robin Barton whose gallery seems to have vanished is now involved with the Maddox gallery it seems.

After the weekend and a few explosions from Retna, the final one I saw he was talking shots at Shep!, I can no longer see his account.

While he obviously has lots of issues with people in the art world (well most of the people in the world by the looks of it) I like his art.

He also went after a polite Pokras Lampos screenshotting texts. He pulled out the USA vs Russia rivalry and looks like he was banned. Time will tell whether it is temporary
