Banksy in Palestine 🇵🇸, by bookends on Oct 11, 2023 21:40:17 GMT 1, The assault coming by land, sea and air will be like nothing any of us has seen Once the Israelis are set It is going to be brutal Who is it going to be brutal on? Palestinian civilians? Are they going to give the women and children a good pounding? In that case, they lose all of the intellectual moral high ground. Israel has told the world what is about to go down, through every channel possible, No woman or child will be harmed if they do as instructed, This is the reality of what is going on right now

Banksy in Palestine 🇵🇸, by Daylight Robber on Oct 11, 2023 21:53:16 GMT 1, I can't get my head around having to take sides in this conflict. It seems to me that to do so is to prioritise prejudice ahead of morals. There are innocent people deliberately being slaughtered on both sides and whichever way you look at it that is wrong. There's no excuse for ignoring the abhorrence from a preferred side whilst condemning the same from the other. Both are committing war crimes. Both are annihilating indiscriminately. There is no moral or ethical high ground being taken here. Attacking Israelis was an act of evil. Besieging Palestinians living in Gaza is also evil. Showing support for perpetrators of evil is, in my view, f*#ked up. I will take the side of the people not murdering teenagers on a dance festival and old people and children in kibbutz's. In the last election held in Palestine, the people of Palestine democratically voted (combined) 87% for Hamas and Fatah, which have stated goals of eradicating all Jews from the face of the earth. Not even the Arab nations around Palestine want to have anything to do with them, besides Iran which is a terrorist state. Israel is the one single democracy in the entire middle east, where Arabs/Palestinians have voting rights and even have seats in the Knesset. Israel has a population of 20% Arabs who enjoy the same rights as everyone in Israel. Palestine has zero Jews living there, because they would immediately be slaughtered. When Israel takes out terrorist bases in Palestine, they first drop a 'knock' bomb on the building to make sure everyone can get out safely, before demolishing it. There is one beacon of freedom, democracy and hope for a people that have been hunted and persecuted for hundreds of years. And there is one terrorist nazi state that has in all these years never wanted peace and prosperity, but voted in a terrorist government that uses all the billions and billions of aid they have gotten over the years to build tunnels, buy rockets and fund terrorism. All the hypocritical bothsidesism can get fucked. Your prejudice is a huge part of the problem. I think there's a possibility that you, like millions of others, genuinely believe that there has been no oppression from the state of Israel. That there is no apartheid. That land isn't forcibly taken. That Gaza isn't an open air prison. That Israel doesn't control it's borders and critical infrastructure. That dropping bombs on such a densely populated landmass doesn't result in civilian deaths, including thousands of children who have no political allegiance. You can choose not to believe facts, but it doesn't mean they are no longer facts.
Innocent people (ON BOTH SIDES) are dying needlessly. There is barbarism on BOTH SIDES. There is no bothsideism at play. It is simply a tragic reality.
Your denial of the above, means that you don't recognise the undeniable - that the targeting of innocent civilians is always, always wrong, no matter who is doing the targeting. In doing so you demonstrate that you have no morals - just opinions.

This whole sickening bothsidesism you and other terrorist apologists are espousing has just led to the biggest attack on the Jewish community since the holocaust and still you keep it up. It provided Hamas with billions of dollars and years of time to plan this attack.
If you want to be an anti-semite, just go out and say it so people can see your true colors.
Here's the one thing Hamas accomplished: Now everyone gets to see who believes in democracy and freedom, and who keeps making excuses for vile terrorists. The masks come off one by one, for everyone to see. Everyone can now vote and associate accordingly.

Banksy in Palestine 🇵🇸, by hnkpnk on Oct 11, 2023 22:58:43 GMT 1, Do you know the coast of Palestine is beautiful and real estate developers want nothing more than to develop the area and bring tourism there, boosting their economy? But the chose this. What coast are you talking about? The Dead Sea coast? Famous for its refreshing beaches? Or the Gaza beach? About 30 km long for a population of more than half a million and under siege since years.
Obviously you know very little about the region and the relationship between Israel and Palestine. UN and international law consider the occupation illegal along with the spreading of settlements and the land grabbing.
This was only an example of your “facts”. Educate yourself and then come back and write here.

Banksy in Palestine 🇵🇸, by gus on Oct 11, 2023 23:07:20 GMT 1, Thought this was worth mentioning "Hamas announced its intention to once again boycott local elections and has repeatedly prevented free, local elections since it first took power of Gaza in 2004." from wikipedia, given the above.
I think it makes a lot of sense for people to side with their place / people / faith. It is human nature, and happens even with arbitrary groups of strangers, some in group out group bias. So of course it happens with more meaningfully connected groups.
The world is a dark place and there are only so many corners to hide.
I hope everyone has a nice day, goodbye.

Banksy in Palestine 🇵🇸, by hnkpnk on Oct 11, 2023 23:14:48 GMT 1, For the record I think the Hamas attacks the last days are terrible, but I fear that the casualties in Gaza will be several times higher than in Israel. As it has been for decades (about twenty to one). And almost all will be civilians. Half of the Gaza population is under 18. With half a million people on 365 square kilometers there is nowhere to flee.
Edit: it’s two million living in Gaza, not half a million.

Banksy in Palestine 🇵🇸, by House of Arts on Oct 11, 2023 23:48:57 GMT 1, More of the people that democratically elected a terrorist group as their government die than free people die. What's your point exactly?
Where were all the freedom loving, non-Jew hating Palestines that just want peace and prosperity in the past 8 decades? Why aren't they governing Palestine? How about you stop apologizing for terrorists and terrorist sympathisers and face the facts?
There is a small country surrounded by countries that all want every Jew dead. Stop blaming the few Jews.

Bomb all their buildings, hunt down every single last terrorist. After that, do the same with Hezbollah and the leadership in Iran, with the aid of the US. Enough is enough.
If there are in fact freedom loving, peace loving people in those countries that want to coexist with western democratic countries, that want to see their government change to include more freedom and western values, like some hopeful news from Iran recently showed us, they will then transform their countries. This can be done. It was done in Germany after the second world war. It was done in South Korea.
If you believe in western values and democracy, that's what you would hope for these kinds of countries. But most people in this thread would rather have their Jihadist hatred simmer for years to periodically boil over again and again.

Banksy in Palestine 🇵🇸, by Pawel on Oct 12, 2023 0:08:53 GMT 1, What do you think Israel should do? I mean from what you say all Palestinians hate Israel, they want kill all the Jaws, wasting bilion of dollars of aid. It looks like a hopeless case, should Israel just killed them all? Cause it sounds a bit like that. Israel should remove Hamas from the face of the earth. Sounds quite reasonable in theory. Democracy and western values don't really do well in the region though.

No, unfortunately the region is dominated by countries and people that have backward islamist ideas and would rather live under Sharia law. Here's an interesting read:

Now note that the country that scores nearly the highest on all these morally repugnant questions is Egypt. And even Egypt doesn't want to have anything to do with Palestine.

Banksy in Palestine 🇵🇸, by House of Arts on Oct 12, 2023 0:38:45 GMT 1, Israel has told the world what is about to go down, through every channel possible, No woman or child will be harmed if they do as instructed, This is the reality of what is going on right now Oh, my mistake. Proceed with the genocide. There's only one people in that region that has been on the verge of being genocided for eight decades, and they are called the Jews.
Imagine you living in a neighbourhood where everyone living around your house wants to kill you, and every single last family member of yours. Now imagine people from some towns far away blaming YOU for defending yourself against that barbaric horde of backwards people.
Then imagine those same people proclaiming to be supporters of equal human rights for minorities like LGBTQ people that that barbaric horde of backwards people would cut the throats of while smiling and shouting Allah Akbar.
That's the terrorist apologism I'm talking about.

Banksy in Palestine 🇵🇸, by House of Arts on Oct 12, 2023 0:40:39 GMT 1, Weird for people like me. I lived in an 'Islamist' country for several years. The people were lovely. Not a single person ever bothered or threatened me. They actually were very kind and respectful. At times I was the only 'white' person amongst thousands of 'not-so-white' people. Never once was there a problem.
I know, House of Arts, mind blown, right?
Nope, not for you. Fall back on the rhetoric you were spoon fed.
Tell them you are gay and see how kind and respectful they are. You might get a 'oh shit' in before you are hanged.

Banksy in Palestine 🇵🇸, by House of Arts on Oct 12, 2023 0:49:12 GMT 1, I'm of the school of thought that no one actually wants to kill anyone. It's messy and an internal moral conundrum. You should look into the word 'Jihad' and perhaps rethink your 'school of thought'.

Banksy in Palestine 🇵🇸, by House of Arts on Oct 12, 2023 0:50:30 GMT 1, Allahu Akbar (Arabic: الله أكبر) is an Islamic phrase, called Takbir in Arabic, meaning "Allah is greater" or "Allah is [the] greatest".

Banksy in Palestine 🇵🇸, by House of Arts on Oct 12, 2023 1:01:19 GMT 1, You should look into the word 'Jihad' and perhaps rethink your 'school of thought'. OMG, never seen the word jihad. Thanks for that! You need to 'reboot' your brain. I sincerely hope you, and every terrorist apologist (which are, weirdly, nearly all on the left), gets past their cognitive dissonance on this topic and starts coping with the facts.
At least the masks are off and you are showing your true colors for all to see. Keep doing that, also in your daily life to friends, colleagues and relatives, so everyone can decide whether they want to associate with you and your views.
Next time you make a statement about, donate to a cause or walk in a march for any kind of Western equality, being it women rights, LGBTQ rights, or whatever cause might have your outspoken support, firstly think what the people you keep making apologies for would think of such a statement, cause or march. Then take a good look around you and see how many of the people you keep making apologies for are walking with you. You won't see a lot. You might see none at all.
Then, perhaps, your cognitive dissonance will dissolve.

Banksy in Palestine 🇵🇸, by Viennese on Oct 12, 2023 3:39:43 GMT 1, I also believe that both-sidedism is relativizing. Committing a massacre like this should not spark responses like “but… Israel”. After 9/11 or Bataclan (almsot) noone was saying “but the actions of the US here or French colonialism there”. I actually believe that responses like this also strip Palestinians of their agency.
There is no moral equivalence here. An actual terrorist organization has slaughtered innocent people committing unspeakable acts, there is no context needed when a baby is beheaded. I heard someone saying “I’m sure Jeffrey Dahmer had a rough childhood but that doesn’t mean I empathize with him”. I think many people do not understand that there are those within Palestinian society that wish to exterminate Jews, and what that means. What “from the river to the sea” really means. Hamas just called for a global jihad and people don’t seem to connect the dots.

Banksy in Palestine 🇵🇸, by Viennese on Oct 12, 2023 3:40:55 GMT 1, This conflict is surely too complex to discuss in a forum like this (or maybe any forum), disagreement will already start with the basic assumptions of how it started, so let’s try at least to see an opportunity to educate those that have different opinions from our own and not put each other down.

You will only ever be gaslit and blamed for defending against this mindset.

Banksy in Palestine 🇵🇸, by The Italian One on Oct 12, 2023 7:58:29 GMT 1, 1. I believe nobody here is on the side of the murderers. 2. I hope Israel won't overdo the reaction. 3. I start losing faith in humans as a species. So easy to manipulate. Trump, Brexit, Orban in Hungary or Kaczyński in Poland. Imagine how easy it is to people living in a one of the most densely populated parts of the world, with very high level of poverty, where another country has the power to instantly cut off all food water electricity and fuel. And it goes like this for dacades. 4. A bit off-topic. Probably not many people here know that for the last 20 months people ar dying at the Poland-Belarus border. Illegal migrants mistakenly convinced by Belarus regime are sent to cross the borders. Polish forces push them back. So they are just stuck there. Many died. Is there an easy solution to this? Not really. The country you are talking about (Palestine) has brought this upon themselves by electing terrorists in their government and hating people of a different faith then theirs. Do you know how many billions in 'aid' Palestine has gotten over the last decades? What did they spent these billions on, you think? Peace and prosperity for their people? Or weapons and terrorism? Do you know the coast of Palestine is beautiful and real estate developers want nothing more than to develop the area and bring tourism there, boosting their economy? But the chose this. They democratically chose a terrorist leadership and decided to wage a holy war against the Jews (and Christians for all that matters here). They fucked around and now, finally, after decades of Israeli restraint, are going to find out. And don't get me wrong. I fucking hate the fact that this is happening. My hope has always been that the people of Palestine would elect a moderate leadership that worked towards peace. They had every chance in the past eight decades to do so. But they didn't. They don't want peace. They want every Jew on the planet dead. There's where all both sides moralism goes out of the window. that's obvioselly the side Isrelian/jews people like to describe the conflict.
by the way, did you ever go to the West Bank or to the Walled Off Hotel? Banksy has described the Palestine/Israel conflict very well inside the Hotel, so you think that place is full of lie?
