This tube is from 2007.
Bristol Museum exhibition was in 2009.
And if you got them at POW closing it was 2018.... which were sent in Smarties size tubes....

So I think that's an original 2007 tube, which makes it very likely the poster is legit as well.

Yeah, the Bristol Museum poster came in 2 inch tubes.... 

2 inch wide - not long. (before Basquiat starts spinning again....)

The Smarties ones had random coloured end caps with letters of the alphabet on. Then the EU ruled that the alphabet no longer conformed to European standards and they were banned, so it’s easy to spot real from fake. You’re welcome.

I've been offered a poster from the 2007 release but have noted that the paper is thinner than the batch released pre-POW closure?

Could anyone shed any light on this?

I've never heard of 2 different versions......
I think there is just one version and the ones sold at POW closing were just left overs from 2007.

Never heard they printed new ones for POW closing.
Correct me if I'm wrong. But this doesn't sound good.

Thanks Dive Jedi that was my understanding.  However, the tube is exactly the same as in Easy-Z's photo on the Banksy Soup Cans Price? thread so I was minded to think it was legit - but the paper on the earlier is definitely thinner.

I was hearing on another reseller forum of some clown who bought a few 'replica' soup can posters and then sold them with legit POW tubes that he had collected over the years for £1000 a poster.

Not sure if this is genius or not.

A check at the date on the royal mail stamp on the tube is definitely useful, as well at the size of the tube (in the closing down sale these were sent in smaller tubes than the silkscreens if I'm not mistaken); for posters bought before the closing down sale, also a check at the archived pow website where it can be seen when those were for sale could help (to compare it to the date on the royal mail stamp).

there are only one type of authentic soup can poster. The closure ones were simply the soup they had left over in storage. I think anyone trying to persuade you otherwise is being tricksy

Looks pretty legit. Has the tube and a receipt. Just about all of them have 1 bump in them on the edge that usually frame out. I would ask the seller if they have the POW tissue paper that came with it.
