There's no shine...sorry I don't know the words really to describe it.

Almost, if a poster was varnished to give it the shine, the Palestine would be unvarnished?

Hello everyone,
Looking to purchase a Banksy poster as a newer collector starting out from the lower end. Crawling the posts, I have become interested in purchasing one of the following Banksy prints: GDP Rat, Soup Can and the Flower print(if someone is willing to sell for around 1200). I am also interested in 1 or 2 Banksy Peckham rocks if there is a good deal and particularly a walled off hotel Key fob(balloon girl variant). none of the genuine soup cans are in 'mint' condition. Because they were printed in 2007 or something, real ones have slight yellowing around the edges, natural ageing. Coming from someone who maxed out at the end of POW they mostly have a corner or two dinged or folded. There was no extra packing for them so they slipped around inside the tube.

Pow sold loads of these when closing.. all genuine and mainly mint

I think you're not looking closely enough if you've seen any in person. It also depends on your definition of mint. Their condition is fine, but I wouldn't describe them as mint. Sellers don't generally say so but they all have slight yellowing around edges, it's not so obvious but it's there. For me it would ring alarm bells if it wasn't there 🤦🏼‍♂️

I’ll back that up. There is slight yellowing on the the edge of these on the mint ones I had from the POW clear out.

I'd tend to agree. Remember at the time plenty of people on here getting creased, edge damaged prints - but for £10 (and limited numbers) not much could be done. I have a decent condition one myself bought from the final batch and there is a feint yellow tinge on the edges - as suggested fully in keeping with being well over 10 years old. Doesn't worry me - to be honest adds to authenticity; I previously bought a version of the same print through a poster company  about 7 years ago, and although it had a bright white background, having compared it with the real thing - it was obviously a copy. Gave it to my son to stick up in his student flat😁

do you think it comes from them being stacked in storage ?

Like a book or magazine where the outer edge of the pages yellows over time

yes, it's oxidisation of one form or another. Luckily it's not too serious, but who knows in another 13 years time

I’ll confirm the slight edge yellowing on these from the POW closing down release. Difficult to see in some light but it’s there.

Agreed, I think actual mint copies are pretty rare.  Even when people say they're selling a mint version, if you look closely at the photos you can see minor dents and creasing on the edges (typically the bottom left and right edges).

Mine showed up severely dinged. Tube had a dent. Not even close to being mint. I messaged POW and they essentially said “so sorry, but enjoy”. I was not pleased and let them know. Never heard back from them.

One month later another tube from POW showed up unannounced. In it, a mint soup cans wrapped in brown paper with nary a scratch or ding on it. The best day I had in a long time. 😊

Shoot, when I messaged them they told me I could either destroy it and get a refund or keep it as is.  Sounds like you got the better deal

I posted a wanted for this and a tenner a while back.

Had a few offers of a poster, one was very local and we agreed a price (£1100) but the seller has strung me a long for a month and I'm not even sure he owns one now?

Last night I was within a PayPal payment of getting the one in France for £1100.

While this has been dragging on I've sorted a Di-Faced tenner, paid for a delivered from a great forum member.
Bought another print, met the seller and exchange.
And arrange a trade with another member.

So if you do want to sell one at about 10,000% profit let me know

there have been conversations about this before a long thread on the subject. Genuine ones under close inspection have yellowing at the edges, which is the nature of the paper after over 10 years of storage. Also many have a creased corner or two. However these things are not necessarily described as damage

 Change the title to "good condition" on your advice.

Given the choice between perfect corners and creased I would prefer perfect.

I had one offered that had a dent on the side for £850 but I'd rather pay more for a good example.
