It's easy to suggest sellers may be old members returning, or that they might be several star members setting up second accounts. But in the absence of any evidence it's all just conjecture.

A less than 2 week old print was flipped on here only yesterday by a 600+ Post member (forum kind) so I think post count won’t stop anything. I personally think it would be an idea if nobody commented on the thread. 90% of the time it’s a wind up that people fall for. We know when it’s happening but people still fall for it. And yes it’s ironic when I’m also commenting keeping it alive but the op doesn’t wind me up I just find it boring. Anyway Peace

I would humbly suggest anyone who has an issue with ppl selling on this forum, thinks about their issue carefully, then presents a balanced argument with actual evidence to underline it.

So the issue is a new member selling straight away? Yes? Politely suggest it’s ‘good form’ to introduce yourself and then explain, with no prior history here it’s difficult to be assured of the sellers legitimacy....

If it’s price, politely suggest the going rate is blah based on blah.

And then, move on.

This constant whingeing, creating urban myths and general ill thought out bad behaviour, is no better than my 3 yr old and I come here to get away from that !!!!

I’d suggest the real issue is ppls lack of respect for one another, that comes up time and again here.

(My point about evidence was solely about people thinking logically about their actual issue and backing it up with ‘something’)

Agree with the lack of respect but for me, its gotten much worse the past year or two IMO and I(perhaps incorrectly) see a correlation between the increase in For Sale thread and decrease in actual posting/discussion of art. I guess it comes down to numbers. Ownership would rather more posts/members, no matter what. Id prefer more quality and if that meant less members/For Sale threads, so be it. Again, just my take and Ive started posting less and less content on here and more on my own IG and website

I rarely discuss art here these days, there’s just not the interest sadly, I was originally here in 06 and money has always been a key motivator- it’s just snowballed. Most old members I know moved on and just don’t have the interest they did originally ... I for my sins still do.

That’ll happen when a community erodes. People here seem to think that implementing a few basic rules around posting is anathema to the urban art culture. I wonder how many of those people leave their doors open at night for any stranger to come waltzing in.

Setting up rules around post limit or join date is not going to eliminate problems but it will minimize them and let people get back to discussing art. The flip (no pun intended) side of allowing anyone in to sell their stuff at any price is what incentive do more experienced members have to keep their prices low if anyone in the world can just come in and take it? It goes both ways. Anarchy has never worked as a governing principle and these are the effects.
