Art Wanted, by Lydia Fong on Aug 2, 2011 15:13:52 GMT 1, i cant believe that so many people seem happy to be ripped off on these fakes.
does anyone know who is profiting from these ยฃ50 prints ?
does anyone care where the money goes?
and what if this doesnt stop at Banksy , but next its the latest release from your favourite artist ? be it space invader, miss bugs, charming baker etc etc etc - would it still be ok then ?

Art Wanted, by Deleted on Aug 2, 2011 15:24:16 GMT 1, This is so f*cking lame. Lame, lame, lame. Making money from someone's else art. It can't get any sadder. Also, I do believe that this is just an "exercise" before making few adjustments and selling them as a real deal with faked COA. And to those who are saying that some people kind of deserve to be scammed... shame on you.
of course this is lame, completely agree.
but if you spend thousands on a print (! think about that, even if its legit) than you should make 100% sure it is legit. If you are buying banksy you need PC. If you don't know that you shouldnt be buying banksy. These have the word COPY on the back, if that does not make you suspicious you're a bit of a fool. if you buy a print framed, you should think twice in every case, if you have at least a 1000 gbps available to buy the print, you'd better buy a new frame as well..
come on guys, it is money, think about how you spend it. Everyone knows banksy are copied all the time..
so: THINK

Art Wanted, by saint on Aug 2, 2011 15:29:40 GMT 1, I cant believe there are now 9 pages discussing banksy knock offs on ebay, my goodness how times have changed.
Also agree with motor, saying people who get scammed deserve it is just ridiculous. What about deann and the nicked cauty jar that he sold to farout? was farout to blame cos he didnt ask for a coa? or was deann to blame for being a thieving scumbag? i would say deann 100%.
personally i feel 9 pages is too much chat to give this muppet, and i also feel posting pictures of the fakes you've bought is slightly bad taste. Just my opinion of course, its a public forum so you can do what you want, but obviously some people feel strongly about it and discretion can sometimes be whats needed imo.
I'm out, i wont be reading this thread again as i've now posted thrice when i told myslef not to post at all.
At the end of the day you can do whatever you want with your hard earned cash, just remember that not everyone needs to know every single thing you do with your cash.
my 2c. goodbye.

Its not fake. Its a copy as advertised.
A fake Turf War would claim to be from 2003 and have a BIN of ยฃ2k plus. It wouldnt be stamped copy and sold for ยฃ50 BIN.

Wonder how many of these purchased will make the wall, im guessing allot more than other recent purchases im sure the people buying these clearly want the image over the status of owning a Banksy

Art Wanted, by hunter007 on Aug 2, 2011 15:38:04 GMT 1, I agree no one should be ripped off of course, but you should also check what your buying is real, or at least much as you can, I see a difference in the Jam Jar sold as that was selling stolen goods and not selling a copy. these clearly state copy, I think the main issue here seems to be among the people who want this image on there wall and are happy to purchase a COPY because they know they cannot afford an editioned numbered by POW etc and those that have a numbered Banksy print and see it as a no no , which again i understand.
And no i have not purchased any of these.

Thread resignations are ultra lame!
Also I really donโt see how posting pictures of the thread subject matter should be considered bad taste!
If people really feel strongly about it thatโs good as it adds to a healthy forum debate.

Art Wanted, by fairplay1974 on Aug 2, 2011 16:18:58 GMT 1, Been scanning this thread and read some of it with interest. Some of the responses from both sides carry merit and this type of debate will always garner different opinions, in itself no bad thing at all....Slating people for not agreeing with your opinion, not my bag. Anyway here's mine.... I think the issue for me with these prints isn't necessarily what they may provide to someone who loves the Banksy image but can't at present or ever afford the real thing, it gives them the opportunity to have that piece on their wall....But hold on, isn't that already available? From a multitude of sellers, you're own graft or simply printing a good quality image yourself? The issue with these for me is how they are portayed to be almost an 'identical copy' to the original prints bar the stamp/number. Yes they are stamped 'copy' on the reverse but the seller goes out of their way to ensure the reader is in no mind that these prints use the same quality inks, process and exact paper to the originals, the buyer can even have the BANKSY stampe removed so for all intents and purposes to a novice they could be portayed as the real thing. Not saying everyone will do this, but some will knowing the information already provided to them by the seller. Therein lies my issues, these can if so wished with some creative framing be passed off as originals, or by more unscrupulous individuals potentially used to create 'fakes' by their own hand or others to sell on themselves. This to me sits very closely with the replica watch market, where semi-decent watch movements are packaged up as Rolex, Panerai or other marques and sold on many sites as copies then passed off as originals to unsuspecting sellers on eBay. Another analogy would be kit cars, some I love (Ultima as example) and others l detest, like the MR2 Ferrari 355 as it's simply about trying to be something it is not....These prints represent that to me, they're trying too hard to be the original, and not an innocent print/copy for someone to put on their wall and enjoy......I'll get off my soapbox!

a rose is a rose and a fake is a fake. these are fakes stamped with the word COPY .
i dont give a shit if people want to be knock offs/fakes/copies/reproductions... i just think these are a rip off .. ยฃ50 fucking quid indeed.. should be a tenner max. (and even then i wouldnt buy one... )
and as it happens i dont own any banksy prints , though there are one or two i would love to have on the wall, i wouldnt entertain paying some scammer ยฃ50 for a fake one..

Unsure if you can get fake trainers but for the sake of 20 quid no need to purchase knock off's If she wants a Gucci bag and at school she can thing again. I remember the fake Ralphs going around at school. part of growing up good times. If POW were to actually do something about this wouldn't that go against Banksy's anti-establishment image?

Thats funny, because physically I dont see any difference between these and the unsigned edition, apart from a POW stamp, and several thousand pounds on a bank statement.
Anyway I bought, I'm pleased with it, I posted some pics in case others were unsure.
If that snaps the quim strings of some purist fanboys then so be it!
