I'd be surprised if that was the case.  $1K is a lot to throw down on any print, no matter who the artist is and how much some people might like the print.  That's more than some people on here might make in a month. To find 30 people who love the print, and just happen to have $1,000 in their pockets to spend a few weeks before Christmas, is easier said than done.  Not saying it won't happen, but I wouldn't think it's a sure thing

not to compare Sweet Toof and Maya Hayuk again, but I assume they have a similar sized fine base.  And his run of 30 prints hasn't sold out yet and they're only $150

^^ hope you are right fed. I tried carting a hundred copies of the print and it took me all the way to the final screen right before you press pay. My experience with paypal cart is it will give you an item not available if there is proper inventory control or tells you how many prints are left for purchase before you can even log in.

I did the same thing with 35 and it rang up $35k plus... I'm nervous for the same reason about the sweet toof I went on.

Sweet toof is popular in the street art world. Kind of. Truthfully most people I know not from the uk have never heard of him, even urban collectors. Maya, on the other hand, is repped by multiple galleries, has had multiple solo shows and was invited to paint the Bowery wall.

Id venture to say Maya's collector base is many times larger than st, but that's just my opinion. That said, I think it's a safe bet that a print by maya ed30 at 150 would be gone in milliseconds.

I'm not sure it's that overpriced. Her other prints are selling on secondary for between 800-1200ish, for larger editions of smaller prints. This is a *massive* print with a potentially iconic (and definitely beautiful) image.

Edit: I was curious how large this really is, and so took out a tape measure on the wall. Wow. Try it.

A little bit of hype going on in his thread maya Hayuk has been around a while. Not sure what is sparking everyone's interest. Prints have significantly jumped in price as of late. I hope you it's sustainable.

Is this print still available? I'd have thought it at least sells out within a few hours (yet there's still a buy button at the moment). Maybe it's the rather big price tag attached to it. Iconic image or not, I'd never pay those high prices demanded for some coloured dots, and I won't do that for crossed lines. Don't get me wrong, I like Maya's work a lot, but at these prices (for a prints) I'm out.

But wasnt she just releasing a few weeks ago a print with a price of USD 250? I dont think its only her that is setting the purchase price. I believe its mostly a gallery setting the price.

A very big print and one which would have to be a main piece of artwork in most rooms.the price doesn't make much sense but the people looking after her must have an idea of the market at the moment with her buyers. She may be targeting a different crowd as well and removing herself from the urban art scene.if it sells out its a good piece of buisness.

The framing cost put me off. And its size means if you don't frame it quickly its likely to get damaged.

To get this in a proper frame with Museum glass or acrylic, you are looking at $1,600-$3,000 all in. Far better off buying an original, of which there are still plenty of unsold works hanging about.

Carted it...but just couldn't do it. $1,000 dollars plus shipping, and that's before framing has even been considered.

I love Maya's work, but the price point on this is just too high; but I do agree with Romulus that at least this will deter flippers.

Agree with others, seems a pretty big price hike. Nice print, but at $1000 there are other pieces id rather be picking up, not helped by the fact there seems to be multiple releases on a daily basis in recent weeks. At $600 I would of picked one up and just had a smaller Turkey on xmas day

Don't think the price is that crazy given the edition and print size.

I am very close to pulling the trigger, but what bothers me is that it's just a another (albeit bigger) version of Very X whereas BBB 1 was so much better, no hand finishing like some of the previous, releases every 2 weeks now, a framing cost that will be double the print cost putting it in 3K territory…

But then again it will look so good framed…ah the dilemma !

I don't have a problem with the price at all. She's just scraping back some of the profit more recently made on her work by others and keeping it for herself, and given the size of the print and its impact in any room once framed and hung, I think $1000, even with a sizeable framing bill to come, is far from unreasonable. Of course you will need to want your room to be massively dominated by some drippy criss-crosses, and it's that, rather than the price, that's stopping me. Still, I'd expect 32 people to be up for it, and for every one of them to be absolutely delighted with their purchase once it's up, and also for me to be a bit jealous when they post their pics.

I can't believe I just woke up to this, and grabbed it at cost from the studio! Christmas miracle!!! Especially when Maya's other prints are a) hard to track down, and b) going for way more. I think people are scared of the price tag, but even at what it is, it's a bargain (this thing is massive and awesome).

I doubt we'll see miss Hayuk putting out cheaper priced prints of this magnitudeany time soon. If cheap is what you we're after, should have purchased the LP wrapping.

What got me to buy, is that I love her stuff but always found the other prints a bit too small, Maya's stuff is meant to be big !
