To be frank, I cant see Maya Hayuk's Space Soundsystem or Reggea Soundsystem to be that high in price.

It's a very nice looking print but way too steep for me but it looks like the very x may be out of my league now too.
I can't believe I was offered one at $500 and another at £400 a couple of months back
sometimes I could really KICK myself!!! 'you live and learn'

This.  I was surprised it's still available and was tempted.  But you're looking at 2k-3k really for this print if you're going to frame it right away (I can't) and storing anything larger than 30 x 40 is a pain in the ass..  

while the price is a little higher than I thought, I don't think its unreasonable.  Great piece though, hope it sells out soon before I do something stupid.

I don't think it's priced too high. I think an artist can sell their work at any price they feel is appropriate. My only point was that when you sell for such a high amount, then you are really limiting your audience

not an expert but with the number of +1s here and the lack of inventory control, not that hard to predict that it has been oversold. Remember, not all of her fans with deep pockets post on forums like this.

As many have said in this thread, I feel as if the framing costs are going to be the issue for most of us average folks. As far as the size, image and price. I don't think it's off by any means. Just the fact that your looking at another good chunk to put that on the wall.

Love maya's work. Will continue to support her decisions moving forward even if it prices me out.

That was SINSOS, an older print that's still available at Artspace. I believe it was printed in 2011. Beautiful in person and great bang for your buck, just not her current "iconic" style.

An LP print edition of 85 was released at same time as MV II but for $300. Bigger than X too. On her instagram is pictured as a flyer for a party at Wynwood. Its says they have an allocation of prints, assuming will be those.... That's the one I've gone with as a better size/price for me at the moment.

She took MU#2 and cut out the middle section and went all origami on us to make the other print you're referring to

Selling a larger-sized print (this thing is huge!) with a tiny edition at a predictable price slope (OK no hand-finishing is sad, hehe, until the buyers receive them and start pointing out how each one appears to be a unique individual piece with varying registrations, etc.  ) that is well in line with what has been easily agreed upon regarding preferred style, doesn't exactly lend itself to being called anything resembling 'limiting'; other than of course the limited edition size...

IMO/duh

by limiting I mean, out of all the people who enjoy her artwork and would like a print, only a selected few can afford to own it.  this print is meant for that audience, not the casual street art fan who can only afford to throw down a couple hundred dollars every now and then for a print

some artists sell prints for much cheaper to appeal to a larger collector fan base who can't afford OG's and buy prints as the only means to own artwork from artists they enjoy.  some don't.  some do both. I don't think there's anything wrong with any of these scenarios - but there is a different intended audience for prints that cost $200, and prints that cost $1K
