like the image... but $1,000? wasn't her last POW print around $350? why such a large jump in such a short period of time?  

and I don't think it's the size - paper size doesn't factor in to the cost that much

A. Edition size
B. image size
C. Rising popularity of the artist

Also, the last release through pow was color tests from Big Bang breakthrough and they were 900 GBP if I remember correctly. So these seem to be priced right. Expensive, but right.

Edit: they were 750 gbp not 900. And that was in May.

Yeah, I think this is a pass for me. I actually bought the album version from LSC, and I like the scale of that better.. It is also not quite so drippy. I almost jumped out of my chair when I saw this, but I have come down off the ledge. I think it will sell out, But it is a no for me... Thank you for posting!

bigger print.  small run size.  but that price is a bit of a head scratcher (imo).

wasn't that crazy about very x and have been unsuccessful trying to track down big bang breakthrough.

i like this image but gonna pass at that price point.  if this is the direction of her prices then i guess i'll kick myself for not picking up one of those color tests that were sitting on POW forever.

I understand Very X originally cost £200 but it's value is now over £600. If you were the artist, would you have priced this new print at 2/3 below market value? I think not. Considering the small size of Very X and it's edition size of 70, £670 for this new one only seems fair to me?

The price is probably not unfair. If it were smaller, and a little cheaper, I would go for it. I think you can still get an original canvas about half the height for around $4000.

Very X last sold for 1800 usd on ebay. Can't complain about pricing if you are someone looking for a Maya Hayuk print these days.

Sweet Toof's print today was $150.  Some artists know their fan base

I find it hard to call an artist charging $1K for a print a "street artist".  But maybe that's not what she wants to be known as - she seems to want to cross over into the contemporary art market.  more power to her

Some artists care about keeping print prices reasonable for their fans (Sweet Toof, Faile, Shep) when they can obviously charge more. Both more and more have managers (like bands, actors, etc) and will be pricing prints higher and higher. Supply x demand = price point
