Banksy + Clown Skateboards, by bonesy on Jan 8, 2021 22:03:22 GMT 1, I think we'd all be told that the PC was extremely relevant if it was the opposite of what they did say I think the history in itself means a lot more than Pest Control Authenticity to most people here.. A lot of people hear know the history so therefore don’t care.. The writing is on the wall so to speak.. Below is Jeff from Clown with Banksy painting the exact same stencils they used on the Clown ‘Test Press’ Series back in 2000 (albeit in a different size / format) If the background story isn’t enough for you to value this as an important milestone in Banksy’s career then I don’t know how else to spell it out to you narrow minded folk..
You honestly think the history means a lot more to most people here than Pest Control authentication?
I’m going to be honest with you- All you are doing at this point is dirtying the Clown Skateboards name. You make me want to support them less.

Banksy Street Pieces For Sale, by bonesy on Jan 7, 2021 22:49:36 GMT 1, Genuine as in with a COA? PC won't authenticate them so it's foolish to throw any significant money at them.

Banksy + Clown Skateboards, by bonesy on Jan 3, 2021 22:17:15 GMT 1, I have come to avoid this thread, it's plagued with petty personal fights and BS to talk either down or up the value of this triptych. No one is objective here, and it seems to me everyone have their own personal agenda.
This needed more than a like, thought a repost was in order

Bbay, The approved used Banksy dealership, by bonesy on Dec 28, 2020 15:01:25 GMT 1, And the reason he all but stopped releasing signed editions was due to the masses. Remember the problems with the Choose Your Weapon release and he had to release the queue jumping edition because of all the people whining it wasn’t fair? That was when things really changed and releases must have become more of a headache than anything...... caused by the masses Was is the masses that suggested banksy do editions of 25? I don’t think so.
Releasing 15 (or thereabouts) editions of 25 and an edition of 100 is a typical total edition size. My point is that when the artist has to go back into the studio to create another edition because of people whining, some of the fun is gone and it’s not surprising that releases change after that

Bbay, The approved used Banksy dealership, by bonesy on Dec 28, 2020 13:57:01 GMT 1, it seems the few saying he needs to "disrupt the system" and make art available at a reasonable price point, have a very short memory. in the last 3 years between sale ends and gdp hundreds if not a thousand or so people have gotten his work at a fraction of its value. many of those have made multiple tens of thousands having been so lucky to get picked. and that is just limited edition pieces, if you want to hang an image on a wall, you were free to print at will. plus the give aways like GDP free rat etc. posters.

Bbay, The approved used Banksy dealership, by bonesy on Dec 28, 2020 12:38:58 GMT 1, With how crazy prices have become, and the fact that those who are now buying his work are the same people he seems to despise(capitalists, opportunists etc), I wouldn’t be surprised if B did something with Bbay that would essentially make his work readily available to the masses(as it once was), and in doing so bring the price points back to sanity. Sure it would hurt his pocketbook, but something tells me at this point, he’s all good financially, and it seems like the exact thing B would do, with some type of twist to it like he did with the $60 canvases via a NY street vendor. The only moment in time when Banksy work was readily available to the masses was... when the masses didn’t hear about Banksy yet
Even here in the US I remember hearing Banksy’s name well before even 2006 Barely Legal, he got some attention when he hung his own work in MOMA. In England many people must have taken notice of his clever work on the street, but 100 quid was much more than most were willing to spend on some no name graffiti artist. I would say Banksy work was readily available to the masses up until the masses realized they could buy his work and resell it for a quick easy profit.

Bad Buying Experience from (Name removed)o, by bonesy on Dec 11, 2020 0:17:35 GMT 1, I won't ship without full insurance nor will I have something shipped to me without being fully insured. If you want to have something shipped to you which is not fully insured because you do not want to declare the full value then that is the risk you take. If you insured fully and declared full value as you are supposed to then this thread wouldn't exist right? Taxes suck but if you play games to save a few bucks then that is the risk all parties take right?

Banksy Artwork, VALUATION, by bonesy on Dec 5, 2020 22:33:29 GMT 1, Hi, what do you think about the price development of 'love is in the air' unsigned? +200K @ sotherby's in September '20 "only" 165K @ international art centre in November '20 (New Zealand) myartbroker has one on offer and told me the other day the price is 137K which surprised me. The same people gave an evaluation of 140-160K just two weeks earlier when offering to buy my LIITA. I will anyways have to wait at least a few more month for my COA before I can sell but would be curious to know what the more seasoned collectors and forum members here make of this. I am new to the business side of street art. are prices levelling after a peak or will this remain volatile depending of what is offered in the market? Over two months ago I was talking to a few auction houses about banksy, one guy was telling me it's the busiest they have ever been and been making best profits/results. He used a quite well off family as an example who he knows well and they would spend a few hundred thousand dollars just on a two week skiing holiday and a few hundred thousand on summer holiday. As there is no international travel they have all this money to spend, the parents then bought a few banskys for their kids rooms.👍 I can see things increasing or staying at this level for another year as people still won't be able to travel. Also government stimulus will still continue into 2021 and also worldwide interest rates are around zero percent and won't be moving up anytime soon. So people are borrowing money to spend on art as they make more profit. Also I'd say investors like banksy prints as there is limited supply and he has pest control so that gives the comfort of no fakes.. and as pointed out these tier one auctioneers are achieving high prices compared to the smaller ones that also sell key rings etc. The rich trust these auctioneers more. I'm no economist but that's my thoughts. Interesting thought process that hadn't occurred to me.

The Art of BAST, by bonesy on Dec 1, 2020 14:22:12 GMT 1, This is still my favorite thread on this site.
Not new images, but maybe the only 2 signed I've ever seen. I think the POW website said a portion of the edition was signed but not so sure any actually were- I could very well be wrong here. I mailed these prints to Rae around 2006 and he was kind enough to have Bast sign them and mail them back to me.

Banksy + Clown Skateboards, by bonesy on Nov 14, 2020 18:48:24 GMT 1, I wish the company all the best but there are a lot of skate deck companies out there putting fantastic designs on the bottom of boards, a few sell out quick but most don't. They're talking up the future artists and exciting things to come (as they should) but I personally have very little interest as there are already so many decks readily available with sweet imagery and I don't see myself hanging many more decks on the wall than the few I already have. I wonder if they'll be able to resist the temptation of easy money by doing variants of the Banksy images down the road- easy money.

1st Edition Wall and Piece Postcards, by bonesy on Nov 7, 2020 20:12:06 GMT 1,
I was surprised not to see a thread for the postcards which came shipped in the 1st edition of Wall and Piece cases, set of 4 postcards & paper band per case of books. Not many of these out there...... From a 2006 post in the Wall and Piece thread: The early editions had the white dust jacket [no idea how many] & the 4 postcards were indeed for shop displays [1 set per box I imagine] & included Kissing Coppers, Golf Sale, Warning anti-climb paint & Love is in the Air, held together by a black paper strap with banksy printed in white.

Banksy + Clown Skateboards, by bonesy on Oct 18, 2020 15:10:04 GMT 1, So read through the 30 pages of bickering and infighting the gist is that they are desirable, I didn’t know much about these boards before this, but what I am reading is that banksy cut the stencils for these boards and they are being used to screen print onto the decks, how then are they different from a screen print on paper, ie an unsigned print? No negativity, just looking for constructive POV Cheers
Because these will never get a PC cert

Banksy + Clown Skateboards, by bonesy on Oct 15, 2020 23:42:24 GMT 1, I’m completely fine with them milking this image for all it’s worth to be honest, if I got one of the test sets I’d obviously feel different though. I have always loved the energy in this image (and have sought out the old Clown Skateboard stuff for a very long time) but would never throw big money at anything without a PC cert. With today’s large release I’m no longer debating whether to wear the T and hoodie I have on the way.

But have confidence when buying that edition of 100 and the screens locked away in the Clown vault Kidding, but some sort of communication should have happened if they’re trying to practice customer confidence

Banksy + Clown Skateboards, by bonesy on Oct 12, 2020 12:35:36 GMT 1, The notification says that. It said long sleeve when they went on sale, but was later amended. So I think it was just a typo I don't think anyone is actually receiving a long sleeve version.
Don’t think so either but was hoping as I bought a long sleeve but never saw a post saying ‘we made a typo’ or an email letting me know any different. All good either way

Flower With and without COA value, by bonesy on Oct 12, 2020 11:41:53 GMT 1, If Pest Control started giving out COA’s for a 1 color unnumbered screenprint that was handed out on a sidewalk with no registered owner then a PC COA wouldn’t mean so much in the first place.

Banksy + Clown Skateboards, by bonesy on Sept 16, 2020 20:19:52 GMT 1, Sorry guys but the majority of you are all acting incredibly uneducated for lack of a better word. Clown was the first time Banksy’s work was EVER printed, 3 years earlier than POW !! These are in a completely different league to Box sets, Welcome mats & GDP prints to me personally as I know & understand the history behind these acetates & images.
I’ve been looking for the original decks for many years, tracked down a Clown Skateboards promotional CD and sticker many years ago and posted a pic here of it in 2008. I am fully aware and understand the significance of Clown to Banksy’s career. These decks are awesome, I am happy to see this project happening, I hope I am lucky enough to get decks next month, I will happily pay double retail for them. Would I take a set of these 2020 decks over a Flags print? Hell no.

Banksy + Clown Skateboards, by bonesy on Sept 16, 2020 17:55:51 GMT 1, Banksy created the images and signed off on the acetates and authorised the edition run...not sure how this is not the same as any unsigned limited edition screenprint. These are the original acetates. Maybe you’re confused by the time interval between pulling the full screen run? When PC issues a coa for them then you can claim them to be on a par with the u/s limited edition screen prints. Until then they’re nice collectibles. Let’s not muddy the water for personal gain. Agree, and I am a big fan of these decks- but comparing them to anything that is numbered and can be issued a PC cert is just silly. Id probably pay $1,000 for the clown deck specifically but I wouldn't personally throw anything more than that at any Banksy collectible that isn't eligible for Pest Control- be it a poster, record, skatedeck, etc

Banksy + Clown Skateboards, by bonesy on Sept 16, 2020 14:23:13 GMT 1, Apart from the fact that these boards are beautiful, and that I would have bought them, no matter why... I would like to understand why these decks are considered so relevant, almost as if were sold by GDP. Can be considered an official edition of Banksy? certainly these are a pieces of Banksy history... but can be considered like other “official” memorabilia?
Banksy was on board (ha!) with the original release 20 years ago the story goes, even handing out decks to people. That original clown merchandise is legit in my eyes and even predates POW I believe, though you’re not getting PC certs for it. This go around certainly isn’t the same as the original stuff to me, but the boards supposedly are from the original screens and are closer to being an authorized release (again to me) than say some Dirty Funker LP. I missed out on the decks, no skin in the game just my opinion.
