Banksy + Clown Skateboards, by bonesy on Dec 10, 2021 21:36:57 GMT 1, Stowe are doing a Clown screenprint. Banksy and Clown Skateboards must've fallen out. Or they soon will.
My guess would be the falling out happened about 20 years ago.

Banksy + Clown Skateboards, by bonesy on Dec 10, 2021 17:20:01 GMT 1, Just saw Clown is now working with Stowe Gallery- a gallery whose main purpose seems to be representing artists that rip-off Banksyโs work. I now want a new Clown deck even less than I did before.

TateWard โข Art Auctions ๐ฌ๐ง, by bonesy on Aug 19, 2021 13:08:04 GMT 1, There are certainly some auction houses I would be fine with paying 15% seller commission to and have done so, Tate Ward is not one of them.

New Banksy?, by bonesy on Aug 6, 2021 17:07:28 GMT 1, Iโd say yes .. the first one definitely seems like itโs missing an element as seems a bit MoR. A real world element, like the bike in hula girl or houses in aatchoo
Isnโt the bus shelter theyโre dancing on a real world element worked into the piece?

Art clearout - FAILE - Eelus - Nick Walker, by bonesy on Jul 22, 2021 18:16:38 GMT 1, Good amount of Retna in the link How does a corporate collection respond when an artist they have supported gets arrested for not so pleasant things?
Fair question -ย I admit that Retna's chaotic life - and even more chaotic instagram (seems more sane lately after her returned from his time off ) had an impact in our continued collecting of his artwork.ย I havent ever had anyone - other than this forum- ever dig into the artist enough to even ask the question.ย For now - as we rotate art around quite a bit - some of those Retna pieces haveย been sold in the last few years and the sangria and a few others are at my house. Retna's issues have been discussed enough on the Retna pages - so - dont reallyย have anything new to add here.ย He has worked with SF Ballet and other corporate sponsors so I guess a good number of people have moved on from those events. I didnt sell Retna because of those old news stories - was just time to let a few go.. but we did stop buying new. if that makes sense..
quick update: Raven Hair has an online bidย so no longer on offer here..
Makes sense, and a good approach IMO. Great collection and I hope the sale goes well

KAWS collection of OG Sculptures for sale, by bonesy on Jun 22, 2021 16:22:54 GMT 1, kaws collection of og *toys for sale
Not even sure I would use the term OG
Those taller hand painted Astroboy pieces that Nigo used to own, those are OG sculptures. The older toys are obviously sought after, no need to use terms which may exaggerate what it is you are trying to sell

Shepard Fairey Parlor Pattern Black HPM Original For Sale, by bonesy on Jun 22, 2021 0:52:58 GMT 1, I have never heard of obey providing any COA using blockchain and have multiple fine art pieces purchased at primary They're issued through Verisart. All my fine art pieces 2019 and later came with them. If you don't have one you can reach out to them and they should get you sorted.
Iโve never heard of this either, but havenโt bought one in many years. Are they issuing these for fine art pieces from before 2019?

One of my favorite images I asked about this image while at Opera Gallery awhile back and was told the stencil was obviously very detailed and ripped after only being used a few times

Who is in for a treasure hunt in NY? , by bonesy on Jun 3, 2021 18:39:35 GMT 1, Oof. Big mistake announcing this in a forum full of capitalist hustlers. New Yorkers gonna be servin' theyselves before helping anyone else out. Uhhhโฆ. and the sneaker community only buys what they want to personally wear and will help out others before themselves? While a large percentage of both communities are in it for the profit I would say more collectors here started out with the right intent having a true interest in street art, while many sneaker peeps got into it solely (ha!) for the profit from the get go.

Bast, by bonesy on May 5, 2021 15:54:50 GMT 1, The only thing I could compare this feeling to is when a musician whose lyrics you deeply connect with passes away. You may not have known them personally, but they communicate so well through their craft that you feel like you do. For Bast to give this same feeling of loss having only communicated through some weird-ass imagery and not words is a huge testament to him and the body of work he left us.

This occurred to me initially too, but nothing about that IG post seems like a โjabโ

Do Banksy's prints feel dated now?, by bonesy on Apr 20, 2021 7:47:49 GMT 1, IFTL is one of his earlier prints that I feel has matured over time. What with all the protests/police activity in UK/USA in recent times, it's really come into it's own in the last couple of years.
And Stop & Search too for that matter

Christie's Art Auctions , by bonesy on Mar 30, 2021 20:02:07 GMT 1, Little to no mention of the higher results on this auction (Stop & Search, Nola, etc). Everyone's focused on the ones that finished below expected and calling foul play. Christies site has not been hacked - I bid on two lots a few mins before the auction ended without an issue using Chrome. The problem is people here seem to think they can snipe a piece by bidding in the last 15 seconds using an out-of-date browser and wonder why their bid doesn't get registered in time. Let's see where things go in the next 48 hours - just don't leave it too late. I was thinking the same, people using it like ebay in the hope of sniping in the last 10 secs on a site that isn't really designed for that. The site should be able to handle bids in the last 15 seconds or whatever. Isn't that the whole point of extending the clock if last minute bids are coming in?

Banksy concept for barely legal poster, by bonesy on Mar 26, 2021 0:46:19 GMT 1, Never liked this piece tbh, and it's up against some serious, serious works, makes it look pretty weak. Wonder if that'll impact the result.ย ยฃ2.6million. Really badly sold by Sothebyโs. ย Described as a concept for a poster when in reality it was a signature painting in a seminal exhibition in LA.ย
I hear ya but there were so many amazing pieces from this show and this one just felt like a Los Angeles reference that was thrown together because the show was in LA, which is fine. Iconic, but most other pieces there were certainly stronger and more representative

Forum Auctions โข Banksy Marketplace ๐ฌ๐ง, by bonesy on Feb 17, 2021 13:13:55 GMT 1, We're experiencing quite a flood to the market, I presume as a reaction to the continued economic squeeze?! Trouble is, more and more prints are now landing in the hands of the wealthy, so as the shift of collectors moves away from the average Joe to those with lots of disposable cash, the prices are going to continue to climb. I suspect we'll see a settling of prices this spring (given the volume coming to market) and possibly another rise later in the year?

No, ยฃ101,840 appears to be the current record. $125,000 is pretty good considering there were condition issues with this S&S, correct? Still rolled with rolling creases maybe? I'm going by memory

KAWS bottle for sale *SOLD*, by bonesy on Jan 29, 2021 21:01:43 GMT 1, a lowball offer followed by the dumbest statement iโve heard in context with art, limited editions, collectibles, etc. well played UAA!!!! ๐ Yeah, you're right they only made 213 bottles (as you have mentioned over and over again) so it must crazy valuable. That's why you haven't found a buyer in the past 2 months and Sotheby's would only take it if you also had other items to bundle with it. I stand by my initial statement, not everything rare is valuable.
If you want to sell it give it to Heritage, I'm sure they'll take just the single item and they have had great results with Kaws items.
