Lady who bought cheap Banksy in NY for sale at 200,000NZ$, by fattyramone on Feb 20, 2014 14:15:40 GMT 1, They must have had a good hunch really , or a sly nod and a wink?? .....$60 once they were confirmed as genuine was of course the sale of the century , but $60 for what was proporting to be a knockoff was expensive don't you think? These things as reproduction knockoffs are anywhere and everywhere for £10-£15 ($25-$30) , why would you choose to spend 2x$60 =$120 , and in the case of the guy who bought 4 of them for $240 when they could have bought similar for less than half of what they paid. No nod and no wink, they had no idea they were buying authentic Banksys, they were not given info at point of sale, it wasnt a set up, just a stunt for the BOTI circus, and a good one IMO. Im sure if they knew they were Banksys they would have bought the lot. It wasnt Banksy at the stall either.
No I agree , it was a great stunt , albeit one I had predicted 4 days prior to it happening (and won $75 for doing so too) ...
Its just at $60 each FOR WHAT THEY WERE PROPORTING TO BE was expensive for "knockoffs" ...the guy that bought 4 spent $240 ....thats not an inconsiderable sum , certainly not pocket money , for items that he could have picked up elsewhere for $100-$120??
Of course once they were exposed as the genuine article then it was the bargain of a life time , but why would anybody spend $240 on an item(s) that he could picked up anywhere else for less than half that? ...unless the hunch was strong?

Art pieces in Porn movies, by fattyramone on Jan 31, 2014 19:15:40 GMT 1, Not pornographic unless men in underpants do something for you , but I thought the painting in the background from the lastest episode of House of Foools wasn't too dis-similar to an something that Os Gemeos might have produced.

OBEY - Sid. Superman is Dead - Box Set and HPMs, by fattyramone on Dec 19, 2013 20:11:35 GMT 1, With postage added this breaks down to £72.20 per print which is little over what we would be paying for an average demand 2 or 3 year old Obey print on the secondary market..
If i keep repeating this mantra to myself it takes away the pain somewhat.

Why is Ebay (Fleabay) so hated????, by fattyramone on Dec 4, 2013 0:17:41 GMT 1, Unbelievable that no one has set up an alternative,,,,,whoooaaa there's an idea.
Plenty have tried its just that Ebay got there first and commands the biggest buying audience , and without the largest audience to sell to Sellers will always default to Ebay when they have something worth selling and not just £1 nik-naks.
Should anybody get remotely close to offering serious competition for them they would just buy them out to close them down and/or ingratiate the features that were making them popular into their own system
Years ago Paypal was positively frowned upon on Ebay as they had their own system to push (from memory it was called "Bidpay"??) , this involved ebay sending you a cheque in your own currency from wherever in the world ...payment by cash was also very big then too.
But EBay saw the opportunity to link an instant payment method to their growing behemoth and offered the originators of the fledgling Paypal company Billions of dollars to buy them out ..how could they refuse?

Imbue 🇬🇧 24Hr Art Club • Coca Cola • Virgin Mary, by fattyramone on Dec 3, 2013 15:56:05 GMT 1, I've only purchased from him once and the item arrived very promptly, and 2 weeks as per the OP is certainly jumping the gun. However generally speaking I don't think it's unreasonable for people to feel agreaved if they haven't received something from any seller a month or so down the line, especially if there's no communication and emails are just ignored. That's not aimed at Imbue, as I said my only dealing with him was spot on, but it only takes a minute to update people - even if it's a quick email saying "apologies - item will be delayed for a few weeks". People are generally fine with a long wait if they are told what's happening, it's lack of communication that frustrates and infuriates people. We all struggle with time and of course things crop up unexpectedly but if you are so busy you can't take a few minutes a week to respond to emails then maybe things need a rethink as it does put people off coming back (look at forum favourites Laminate for further proof!). I've been waiting on a print from elsewhere whereby I was told it'll be in the post within 3 business days, and a month later there's still no sign of it. Frustratingly it was an intended birthday present for someone, so I've sent a couple of polite emails and heard nothing. If the order page had said "please allow 3-4 weeks for delivery" or similar I'd not be at all bothered, it's more the fact that no-one has taken a minute to let me know or reply to my emails rather than the delay itself.
Yep ..this!.....nicely said

Imbue 🇬🇧 24Hr Art Club • Coca Cola • Virgin Mary, by fattyramone on Dec 3, 2013 15:53:41 GMT 1, Like it or not the guy is running a business , he produces "product" we pay for the product and expect something we have paid for in return....and in some kind of timely manner
If he hasn't got the courtesy to reply to inquiring emails after 3-4 weeks waiting for uk-uk with prints that are already printed..(mystery tubes) then sod him , if others then enquire about his reliability others are entitled to chime in with views on his lackadaisical method of doing business.
If you want to believe artists are somehow entitled to treat you like shit because they are suffering artists then fair enough thats your prerogative , just don't foist your hippy ideals on others.

Imbue 🇬🇧 24Hr Art Club • Coca Cola • Virgin Mary, by fattyramone on Dec 3, 2013 0:38:00 GMT 1, He's rubbish at getting things things sent out in anywhere near a decent time , ive practically stopped collecting his stuff now because of the distain he seems to hold his customers in.
He did once reply quickly to an enquiry of mine to wether he had sent out my vending machine mini-wood print , apologising for the delay ...the item still didn't arrive so i chased him up a week later (many times) and he never had the courtesy to reply again ...in the end I got my money back via Paypal claim
Ive also taken 2 mystery tubes separately and both times they've taken nearly a month to arrive , which for a uk-uk transaction consisting of already printed left-overs , he cant even use the excuse "the printers have let me down" as all he is doing is selling off whats already been printed?
Wastrel

The Art of D Face: One Man and His Dog, by fattyramone on Nov 13, 2013 15:48:00 GMT 1, How the hell is a weak joke of numbering them all number 1 considered "genius" when the joke is exposed in the internet age within 30 seconds of the next person saying " hey Ive got one too?"
*Old maybe , but not "genius"
* look up the 35 year old Elvis Costello album "This years Model" when he printed this legend in every dead wax of the album "Special pressing No. 003. Ring 434 32 32. Ask for Moira for your prize"
That was 35 years ago , thats half of 70 years ago , 70 years ago people were still making a living telling "knock, knock" jokes....now THEY were funny.

Di-Faced Tenner, by fattyramone on Nov 4, 2013 22:40:29 GMT 1, Essentially you can't,especially with the progress of colour copying. People talk about the different words and lettering and the 'i', but all of these can be copied. No real way of telling, unless you have an original receipt from back in the day ... or a LAZ letterhead prov. thanking you and 'here is a Di-faced tenner for your waiting/troubles' A few threads here: urbanartassociation.com/board/140/di-face-caseThere's no way I can say this without coming across as a total nerd, but ... ... If you have a microscope and a Banksy COA with a torn note, then you can spot a fake in seconds. I know, cos I got burned on ebay for a hundred quid and I compared the two.
But , seriously , what is the giveaway under the microscope?

Banksy - Better Out Than In - New York - BOTI, by fattyramone on Oct 28, 2013 23:55:43 GMT 1, I truthfully had to stop reading that several times - and never actually finished. Please do us Americans (and esp. NYCers) a favor and discontinue visiting that website.
So I take it that paper is our equiverlant of The Sun or The Daily Mail then? ...i.e. full o' shite?
Ok message understood.
