 I have checked out your instagram pages Iamzero and you are indeed truly skilled, dig the Bob Marley pieces! I would buy one of these for a reasonable price. I like the Hendrix too.

Also a good idea FED on the print set up, although I don't have any myself.

Anyhow's I came on here to see if I can get advice on fairly wide, chisel nib paint pens, which have to be permanent. I will be using a lot of white, and have been looking at using 'Posca'. Any ideas on the best paint pens to use, that don't cost the earth? Also best UK place to buy on-line?

Thanks for this, genuinely very humbled by the boards messages and PM's I've had and it's really made me think that I should make a effort to step up my game to produce something that could make a mark within the forum. Now... Where to start.

I hesitated a long time to post this...
these are my 2 first pieces of art i've ever done.

this one is my godson Liam ( approx 24x24 inch ) using stencils but made with oil painting 
( have to admit that i stole the symbol to shepard fairey)
i made it 6 month ago




This one is my goddaughter Léonie (on canva this time) made with newspapers and spray paint for the background + oil painting for her (with stencils)

Nice one, solidity. It's always great to see people getting arty and putting their work on here. It takes courage to share your work for the first time with other people. And cutting stencils isn't as easy as people think. It takes time, thought, and quite a bit of trial and error. You did good. Now make some more

Edit: It looks like 2015 is going to be the "year of the stencil" for many forum members.

theoretically,if I were to start up a "print house" or print series, would I contact Silky to see if it could be affiliated with the UAA forum, or keep it a separate entity?

any suggestions of what you'd like to see/not see in a print series?

(again - this is all theoretical at this point )

Hi Fed. I think offering a print service would be a great idea. Many amateur artists would love to produce screenprints of their work, but find the set up costs prohibitive or the technical side of things difficult. I don't think it needs to be linked to the UAA. Keep it as your own. Will you be looking to have any creative control over production/output? Or will you stick to producing the prints for a flat fee, leaving it upto the artists to market and sell their work?

That's a good question - is it better to be a curated series, or just a print service?  I'd lean towards a curated series, since there are plenty of places someone can go if they just wanted someone to make prints for them... but I'd love to hear more opinions

yes cutting stencils is not as easy as it seems but i really like to do it. I take it like a kind of meditation

my next piece of art will probably be in the street. I'm working on it...

I agree with you on the meditation aspect. It's quite calming once you switch off and just cut.

I have been playing with old tin cans, bits of wire, an old brass sheet, and a few bits of metal and I have soldered them together to make this.






He is about the size of an Actionman/G.I. Joe.

2nd attempt at a stencil
I'm going to add more detail to the headband and watch when I do one on canvas.

Definitely recommend laminating the paper. I will be able to do many goes with the same set of stencils.

Unfortunately the print does not look as good as it does in the image...it's a bit 'squashed' for some reason.

Do you think the image gets better with A1 A2 or A3. Is that a size?

I think the original is landscape, so when it was converted to portrait for the print, it was squashed a bit.
Very amateur and annoying really.

I'll take a photo of mine, which is A3, but I should imagine it is the same for all sizes.

Thats bothering because he has some nice tupac ones as well but im afraid if I buy any of these, they will come squashed

I was also hoping it was black to the edges as it would look good in a black box frame with no mount. Oh well it is what it is, nice and cheap

Looks killer. Im buying this and a few others. Like the tupac and biggie one as well. Cant complain with the price at all. Wonder how quick it takes for the shipment though
