Here's my latest piece on a 50x70 cm canvas: spray paint, (cardboard) stencil, masking tape. Inspired by all those Maya Hayuk prints/originals posted here during the last week, even though I tried to give it my own twist. I hope you like it (a bit).

Whilst rummaging through a bag of old family photos I came across a portrait of what I guess to be a brother and sister. Something about the sinister feel of the photo made me a bit obsessed with it. So this morning I decided to make a screen print out of it at the studio. Gonna get this framed and above the bed in the spare room.




If anyone would like one for their spare room as well then let me know.

Cheers. I was pretty pleased with the feel of it. Obviously with the halftone in person the image is constantly shifting and changing which I like. Not sure what you mean by rough screen though? The texture in there is as a result of the paper itself

Ha cheers. Yeah it can mess with your eyes if you stare at one spot for too long, especially close up. It's nice though as the image seems to change as you change position.

Yeah a good attempt there, you can clearly see the hayuk influence but you certainly have put your own spin on it too, very nice

Thanks for your nice comment and all the "likes" of my pics by others. Makes me proud, really.  The wife likes it too and wants to put it on a wall somewhere with a black shadow box. I'd rather try some more and improve this style as there are some things that might work better. You learn a lot every time you try something new. Then again she already demanded a new piece in Katrin Fridriks style (after we visited her show in Berlin). I don't know though whether I should try this. Does anyone have more information regarding the artistic process of Fridriks?

The Noel army is gathering in strength. Took them to some stores in the city centre today and had a much better response to these than I could've hoped for. Unbelievable. They even want to stock and sell them for no commission. Also Instagram posts asking to buy has been crazy.

How many pieces did you get out of your set of stencils, and what weight of paper did you cut them from?

Still not exhausted the stencil yet. I have 6 blue canvas, 1 grey canvas and 1 grey on paper and the stencils are still producing a defined image with no loss in quality from the first to the latest. Paper is bog standard 90g printer paper.

Love that Smokey. I've had a Keith Richards waiting to cut and paint for about 12 months... Glad it's not the same image though. I chose a real early pic. Rendering an early graffiti piece that probably won't work at the minute but that's all part of the fun eh?
