ebay forum charity print, by pastiepie on Feb 7, 2007 6:30:34 GMT 1, As some of you may have heard the ebay forum is doing an exclusive print run of 50, all proceeds donated to charity. I know they have a dig at us over here but I think now it is our turn to get some revenge. I know some people look at both forums so at the risk of offending everybody, I think the general standard of their artistry is pretty low.

he he.. yeah, we're all rubbish. Good the charity is for blind people (sightsavers), otherwise they might not accept the money

A very worth cause and the sentiment is to be applauded...however with a couple of exceptions those people should never be allowed near a paper & pen again
Stick to the art collecting & leave the art to the artists and send £50 to the charity direct

I feel a bit sorry for you after that response, art's for everyone right, you stick to collecting and bean counting and we'll piss around with our crayons every now and again, go on, loosen up, let your hair down and have a go. You might have fun

ebay forum charity print, by manchestermike on Feb 7, 2007 10:05:46 GMT 1, I think it's a great idea, and the people doing it might not be be the best artists in the world but they've got off their arses and made an effort. Some of the ideas are pretty good too, and they're doing it for a great cause too.

ebay forum charity print, by saltandiron on Feb 7, 2007 10:13:22 GMT 1, I think the standard of art is irrelevant, its one of the nicest things I've heard of for a long while. Reminds you that there are lots of people out there who don't mind throwing a bit of time(to organise the whole thing as well as make the pictures) and (not a small amount) of cash at something for a really worthwhile charity.
I think it misses the point to go out of your way to slag off the art. I'm not saying that you can't citicise something just because its for charity, its just that I don't think that producing the finest image around is all they were trying to do.

ebay forum charity print, by pezlow on Feb 7, 2007 10:28:58 GMT 1, It is easier to be a critic than it is to be an artist. This petty sniping between the two boards is utterly pathetic. I am a member of both boards and have a high regard for many of the contributors to both.
This is not football for fecks sake. There is no need for this irrelevant rivalry and for this nauseating thread.

Its not? Do you mean to say that this isn't a forum about former England goalkeeping genius Gordon Banks? I wondered why everything was so offtopic......

ebay forum charity print, by numusic on Feb 7, 2007 10:38:03 GMT 1, Ha Ha, cheers CR, the arts not the best, but I think the guys had some really great ideas. A lot of them would work really well on the street.. Imagine walking past monquito's Half Time or MCFC's hotel guantanamo.. they'd make you stop & think. Might even get the camera phone out ;D Thought everyone did a top job, and it especially resonates coming from ebay which is usually flooded with scalpers.. AZ put a lot of effort into arranging it, wev'e still gotta sort the winner and the printing.. but hey ho.. think it kinda puts a bit of faith back into what we're involved in.. ;D
right, back to the crayons

I play with my crayons too
just wouldn't put it forward for consideration as a print because I don't feel it's good enough
I agree with pastiepie that the majority of the entries (certainly not all of them) are pretty poor & look like the wall from "vision on".
i'll repeat myself in saying that the sentiment behind it is to be appluaded tho...top notch!

ebay forum charity print, by tomhills1 on Feb 7, 2007 14:09:11 GMT 1, i think anyone prepared to stick their neck out deserves a rather large pat on the back. for charity? even better. maybe some of the work isn't gonna change the world but there are at least 2 or 3 that made me smile and i would definately buy. why stop at 50? sure you could sell a few more than that. i think you could choose your winner on the other forum and maybe start a vote here for another if people are prepared to put their hands in their pockets. i agree any "rivalry" is pretty sad, like i said if monquitobrownstar-ha or mcfc2001-guantanamo.jpg go to print i would happily stump up £50 and blaze my wall with it. i really admire anyone who puts themselves up for judgement and what gives anyone the right to have pop. be constuctive by all means but at least have the arse to have go yourself. good luck with it all fellas i think it's well refreshin'.

ebay forum charity print, by HowAboutNo on Feb 7, 2007 17:49:58 GMT 1, To be on the list to buy them was luck of the draw really....had to be there when the posts were happening, or soon after. I was lucky enough to do that (but in all honesty thougt I may be outed as a "respected 4 star member of the darkside" lol)
Didn't go over there too much up until this point really, but to be honest the quality of discussions is a whole lot better than most of you manage over here in POW "downtime"..i.e. "Who wants to guess what time it will open/first print to sell out/other complete random gobsh i t e" This forum looks much better, you all just tend to talk too much poo at times (Being that I always just read the last 100 posts, the last few days have been EXTREMELY dull)
I think it is a poor second effort to think .info needs to do a print to compete with eBay, after all doesnt that just carry on the "My Dad's bigger than your Dad" element? Come up with something new and fresh, and have the balls to say you will manage the project, or bugger off!
And Pastie Pie....pull your fat storm trooper finger out of your a r s e h o l e and show us what you've got it you think you are all that? I didn't think you were too bad up until then, but just being a bit of an arse I think.
Having said that, we do get lambasted for kissing Nu's tail over here and I generally think eBay group are a bunch of up their own A Hole dealer/secret boys network types, but hey ho!!!

ebay forum charity print, by BK83 on Feb 7, 2007 22:42:24 GMT 1, Here is the latest print I have been working on -- too bad I did not know about the ebay forum thingy other wise I would've submitted this one (reality is I dont go on their too much I am too loyal the .info!). I titled it "return to innocents" -- thats not a typo I meant for it to be innocents not innocence -- it is a play on words. The concept is the limitations and boundaries we set upon our children to explore the world -- everyone/thing has become so sheltered which in turn leads to less imagination and creativity.
I used the word innocents to imply that the young boy has done nothing wrong -- merely wanted to explore the world beyond the boundaries that have been set for him and yet he is being told to return to his 'innocence' .... Hope you like ;D
Contact for purchase info if interested -- limited to 25.
