ebay forum charity print, by ABC on Feb 7, 2007 23:01:38 GMT 1, A bit of fun, we all had at least a month to come up with a design, as you will notice I spent 5 mins on mine as I was way layed by other things, all for a good cause though and good fun to contribute my crap and look at others. Lets all be honest here "I like drawing" from POW is just as shit as most of the entries here for charity!!

ebay forum charity print, by pastiepie on Feb 8, 2007 1:30:25 GMT 1, Upon reflection, adding that I didn't particularly like any of the prints was particularly harsh. I just though people that don't look at the ebay group might be interested to see what they were upto. Originally I thought the idea was to contact a street artist and commission them to do the work?
HowAboutNo I'll contact my agent Laz and see if he'll release any of my works early for your approval ;-)

ebay forum charity print, by ABC on Feb 8, 2007 10:41:58 GMT 1, pastiepie, thats is a different project, a few members have emailed different well known artists to see if they would do a commission run of prints for the forum. The thing about this is that the collectors will get them and you wouldnt see them on ebay the day after sales. The charity print run was was for fun and charity.

ebay forum charity print, by BME on Feb 8, 2007 13:22:08 GMT 1, I think that a number of the designs are very good but that's not really the point. It's about rolling up your sleeves and having a crack at being an artist rather than a critic. And with the money going to charity I think that it should be applauded!

ebay forum charity print, by azlan on Feb 14, 2007 9:49:59 GMT 1, This whole project has been a bit of fun, but has generated a good amount of interest. The intention was to have a little light hearted competition and re-address the balance of people selling Banksy flags prints without donating anything back to Sightsavers.
We recieved over 35 entries from all over the world, but ultimately we would only be able to print just one. Everyone voted for their favorite three, and a winner chosen. (Before you say anything it wasn't a fix!)
Today I'll be finishing the re-worked / finished piece of artwork, as the submitted entry was only a quick photoshopped rough (lots of tweaks needed). The print is titled "Bedminster" which is a part of Bristol (and ment to be my adaptation of Banksy's WSM).
I am also in the process of organising all the orders and payments. Currently we've sold 45 prints - another 5 prints still up for grabs! - (one per person!) If we sell all 50 then we stand to raise £1000 for Sightsavers!!
------------------------------------------------------------
Print Details: 3 colours 285g Fabriano Rosaspina (acid free) paper (65cm x 50cm)
Price: £30 + £6 p&p (UK) / Overseas is a little more (please check with me)
Anyone interested please go to the Ebay forum and read the 'Charity Print Winners' thread. Instructions on what to do can be found there!
------------------------------------------------------------
Many thanks for everyones kind words of support and encouragement, while this project has been a headache to organise, I think it proves there are still good, non-cynical people in the world. Perhaps we can run another charity print event later in the year and involved even more people and do a far larger print run!!?
Many thanks Azlan

ebay forum charity print, by johnas on Feb 14, 2007 10:17:19 GMT 1, Congrats on your win Azlan. Well done ;D
Are you not selling directly on ebay? Seems like a good opportunity to open sales up to the masses and raise as many pennies as possible for sightsavers.

ebay forum charity print, by azlan on Feb 14, 2007 10:40:13 GMT 1, Thanks johnas! Unfortunately i'm simply not geared up to produce and distribute a mass produced run (at least not for this print). As this is our first time, there are many things to learn. Dealing with just 50 or so orders is hard enough. You gotta remember I'm having to do all the organising in my limited spare time.

amazing that for 30 quid you can produce a limited run of a quality decent sized 3 colour print and still donate £1000 to charity
just shows how much money there is in this print selling lark
good work all round...and 2 of those that were in the top 3 would have been my choice too!

ebay forum charity print, by saltandiron on Feb 20, 2007 14:49:24 GMT 1, Can I just say that I think its a testament to people on the ebay forum (cos I know a lot of them read here too) that this actuallly happened. Having just helped to set up a charity thing on another messageboard (music based one) where basically lots people responded with 'I give money, I don't need to be told to give' and 'this sounds like a scam' I think its really nice that this actually happened and people gave and they didn't turn into a bunch of f**king brats. So Itake my hat off to everyone involved. Just wish I got my arse into gear and got one!

Yeh Spot on there SaltandIron -- refreshing to see that it went down so well considering all the sceptisism it garnered when the idea first came up (myself included -- I will admit!).
Was too late to enter when I found out about it, but the three they picked were probably better anyway! congrats to all and especially Azlan on a top showing.
