PEOPLE WHO FLIP, by leehambly on Dec 13, 2007 3:14:24 GMT 1, Most people who flip the prints are probably the people who are moaning about it as they missed out flipping it. Im generalising a bit there, but im not far off the mark.
You might not be wrong... I will admit I have sold a Jack and Jill, just after I got the Colour Trolleys, and I sold it for two reasons:
1. Never really that keen about the Jack and Jill image, it was bought from SG in Dec 05, was unsigned and the only one I was willing to pay the amount it cost. That said it grew on me greatly. 2. Free up wall space for the trolleys, which is a bit of a bitch as since I sold it my lodger is moving out and I won't be replacing him so now have four more walls, which is a bit of a pain, but anyway..! I wouldnt have felt right having an item like that hidden away in a cupboard somewhere.
I don't think 2 year ownership can be thought of in any way as flipping and I dont agree that everyone is doing it, because it simply isnt the case. I think with the amount of money involved it is very tempting though, especially for the students, we are all human with our own lives, and whatever else that may involve, to lead.
As for the students, I really think they must be doing something wrong... from the little that I have read of my student days, if I or any of my friends had a picture on the wall worth a few grand the entire house would have been ransacked within the first term, crumbs we didnt even have stairs in the third term of the first year, just a rope and that seemed to get shorter every night. Hang the loan and expense... deal with that when you're done... get your head down and enjoy yourself!

Well one of them (discalimer: i apologise in advance as it looks like im always laying into him when actually he's really a really nice bloke) Pezlow sells stuff all the time on ebay, and he moderates this.
Thats it, done it now. This thread will be like scotch mist tomorrow.
Theres loads more though who dont admit it, but they do it - mark my words

PEOPLE WHO FLIP, by bullet on Dec 13, 2007 3:22:29 GMT 1, Wish i bought a banksy when i first got my SL, i would have hit it at the cheap ยฃ50 a print time as well.
Instead i spent it on Cider, a car, a fat sound system and loads of CD's
but at least i had fun.

yeah, most people have even though they don't really know it - worked in Stockley Park for a while around 1999/2000... you're supposed to be poor as a student, its not how poor you are - its who you are poor with, imo... you won't get the same opportunity ever again in your life, well until you start drawing your pension anyway! If you're doing some sort of art course then you've got most things pointing in the right direction, from a good time perspective, already.

very true, to those who arent at uni, the government today gives away ridiculous amounts of cash if you jump through the right hoops, obv its good, but not for tax payers!!

PEOPLE WHO FLIP, by leehambly on Dec 13, 2007 3:30:27 GMT 1, <gets pipe out> Funniest thing I ever saw...
Me and a mate moved into a brand new house in the summer at the end of the second year. First people to rent it after the owner did a total renovation... he was so proud, so up we tip... hand over the cash, signed the documents and start moving in. The landlord pops off for an hour or so, but says he'll be back (think he was getting some keys cuts or something)... so off we potter, settling in... putting up posters etc, anyway when the landlord comes back we all convene in the brand new, kitchen... some of the tiles were still wet, sparkling it was... and I'm stood by the door into the kitchen, resting on the jamb and the landlord is just inside the kitchen having filled the kettle and my mate is by the backdoor with his hand resting on the worktop.. under which the washing machine should have been, but it hadnt been delivered yet. Landlord sticks the kettle on and we're yakking and just from his posture I can tell my mate is going to sit on the work top and I stop talking and manage to get out a withering look, as he leaps to sit on the worktop (which isnt propped up because the washing machine isnt there yet!), he ripped an entire one side of the fitted kitchen out, including sink and plumbing and smashing one window... simply beautiful, all in one smooth motion.

PEOPLE WHO FLIP, by wooimastudent on Dec 13, 2007 3:39:16 GMT 1, hahaha sounds classic. ealrier this year i was trying to escort my smashed friend home from a house party, he tried to run down the road, trip on a speed bump, crashed to the ground....then tried to convince me he needed to sleep (in the middle of the road!!!) as his wrist hurt (which was broken)!
