I'd say, if she's offering to meet up with the buyer and go to POW for authentication then the winner would be best off doing just that and paying for it when and only when it's been confirmed as a genuine signed print.

These were signed as and when ordered, although only 50 (Could be 150 not sure) were signed they could be anywhere through the print run.

Can soon be verified through POW (Not me selling by the way, just offering an opinion before seller gets unjustly slated!)

Cheers for clearing that one PUD, its always a bit of an odd one with early prints as to which ones were through the run, 1-150s, 150-500us or 1-150s, 150-600us. The info on the prints section is also ropey in several places which doesnt help with the confusion.

It is a pretty high price in a pretty depressed market. Certainly no bargain I think the last signed one sold for £6-7k. This? Could be real but it could be shilling too.

There were about 4-5 bids in the final minute. Me, I'm assuming that peoples emotions got the best of them and someone put in a stupid high bid after seeing they had competition and because they would just 'die' if they didn't win the print. Whether someone put in that stupid high bid due to shilling, only the seller knows...

The last one went for £8,100. And I think that was freakishly low. I've been hunting for one of these for years, and i've only ever seen 2 on ebay, and have never seen one for sale anywhere else.

gutted, on my wants list but didn't expect it to go for that based on previous price and current market conditions. Its one of his classic images and would love to have it on my wall. Who knows where prices will go this year, but at this rate less and less of us will be able to afford Banky's early bits........

I agree... and one step further, I think all early Banksy prints (not just signed) will rise on a much sharper trajectory than newish ones. One needs to keep in mind the low initial cost of these prints meant many of them were blutacked up, nailed up, taped up, then discarded or in too poor of condition to repair and that means there are far fewer of them available for market than the edition numbers would suggest. Back when someone had the opertunity to buy a signed or unsigned... the signed were more expensive so they stood a better chance of haveing been taken care of more than the unsigned that were likely bought simpily for the image. It would stand to reason quite a few of the unsigned were ruined along the way making them more difficult to come by now as well.

Still $16,000 - 20,000 that's a massive amount of money for a screenprint. BUt hey, just goes to show, people that have TONS of money to blow on this kind of stuff, will always have TONS of money no matter what the economy looks like. And the really high quality stuff will always sell for high prices. But the average folks who inflated avg. prints like morons up into the $10000 price range I think are feeling the pinch a lot more and that's why prices are sagging.

I was expecting £6k - £8k based on other prints of a similar age, but as there were only 50 and it had full provence I guess maybe someone did have 5 figures burning a hole in their pocket

That's a full edition value of over 5million dollars. That's roughly double the typical Banksy edition value right now, which is 2.3 million.

This is one technique to tell if things are overpriced or not... This specific print was well over current market value...

its a very rare piece, rarely comes up for sale, & that alone tends to have a massive effect on bidding, once the auction is over, it may be months before you see another.
