On the Zutons tickets he's got 'Location:The Zutons, UK', and on the KAWS magazine he's got 'Location:KAWS, UK'

Yup, agreed relay. Some people just need to be putting others down. What they don't seem to realise is that they're the only ones who end up looking stupid! Very crass and very unnecessary. Was this thread inviting trolls to come in throwing abuse at people and their work?
GRAFTER, in answer to your original issue, there is an option within the "Report this item" section at the bottom of the page on ebay, to report the seller for using your image. I would simply do this in your position, however there is nothing to stop him/her taking a snap of their own and relisting your work of course.
Mr witty above was right in a way, there are only so many flippable artists around, so perhaps you can try to take it as a backhanded compliment?

Flipper problem, by Heavyconsumer on Jul 3, 2008 19:00:15 GMT 1, by the way, who's flipperbashing? The artist simply asked for help in resolving an issue regarding the unpermitted use of his photo. I must have missed the bashing part. Silly me!
By the way, this is atually against Ebay's rules as well, which is why there's an option to report people for doing it.

Flipper problem, by Grafter on Jul 3, 2008 19:05:10 GMT 1, I'm not bashing anyone.....I was just concerned that it looked like it was my listing and I didn't want people to think I held one back to spring on the bay.
The problem with the photo is that because of R1's piece being impossible to exactly recreate the photo he is using is actually of a different canvas then the one he's got. Therefore the buyer will receive a slightly different piece to the one that is listed.
As for being crap.....as you say, 'each to their own'. By the way exactly what is your own? Why not share with the rest of us?

Flipper problem, by gavagai on Jul 3, 2008 19:27:15 GMT 1, Um, the listing specifically says "GRAFTER USED A STENCIL TO APPLY HIS 'SANDWICH BOARD MAN' & R1 ADDED HIS 'REVOLUTION' PIECE ON TOP"
Unless he is talking about "himself" inthe third person I see no reason to report this to e-bay...

Flipper problem, by nightmaresonwax on Jul 3, 2008 19:30:30 GMT 1, my own is my own business - i dont buy art to ponce it off on here - and I wouldnt buy any art from artist that steps into a forum, bigging themselves up under different aliases, use your real name, or you ashamed of it?
Time some sanity was brought back to this scene - if you notice historically, the artist that make the grade and have durability are those who use their name or include it as their name, cite some examples, Nick Walker, Damien Hirst, Banksy (Banks being his surname), Adam Neate, Jose Parla, Ron English, to use an aliase makes the artist sound like a joke!!

That's because historically you didn't find Leonardo da Vinci creeping round Florence painting helicopters, and Damien Hirst illegally formaldahyding farmyard animals.

neither of them relied on forums to sell their art

Flipper problem, by Heavyconsumer on Jul 3, 2008 19:52:59 GMT 1, fyi - the expression "flipper" is a derrogatory comment - so you are flipper bashing
No, it's a term that specifically refers to flipping, a noun derived from a verb. It's not rude in of itself at all! The fact that it is a practice that is disliked and discouraged by many galleries and artists is why it is seen as negative, but not derogatory. If I bought a print with the sole intention of immediately reselling it at a profit and you call me a flipper, I could not be insulted. It would accurately describe what I was doing.

Flipper problem, by Heavyconsumer on Jul 3, 2008 19:55:08 GMT 1, Sorry Melmoth, you're words are wise, as usual.
It takes courage to share one's art and open one's self up to the criticism of thousands of would be critics. It's the one thing that people on an art forum should be encouraging. Once the art is out there, I am all for giving an honest appraisal of it, it's subjective after all. But for these twits to abuse fellow members for sharing their work with these snipes and insults at any given opportunity and perhaps stifle the next man/lady from doing so in future, simply deprives us all of a healthy environment. Who brought these kids up that they don't understand the basics of respect and reciprocity?
