I'm not disagreeing that some of your work(jboy) is better or worse than some of the shit put out on here. But I think you should probably stop the bullshit about your lack of involvement with 'jboy'. People buy into the artist as well as the artwork and you ain't doing yourself any favours. I'm only trying to help, as I said, people buy into the artist as much as buying the art. You should realise this, being a big follower of someone like Stik. I don't think he would be where he is now if he came across as an arrogant chap, would he?

The canvas' are commissions - you can enquire through email, but it is private work.

I think the problem is when you say you work with an artist, help with their website, or do their social media (or whatever), then start a thread like, "Oh look what I just found!", it doesn't come across well.

I think the term "Original" can be misleading. An "original" is typically hand painted, or at least I think thats what people come to expect these days. So when people see this advertised as original, they assume its a stencil. Obviously, an "original" can be many things (i.e. many of Warhol's "originals" are really hand-finished screen prints) as long as it is 1/1. Maybe a more accurate description would be X-layer screen print on X with hand-finishing. I quite like this image by the way, nice work.

I don’t have a problem with appropriation art but appropriation art uses someone else’s image to convey a new or different idea. My understanding from Freerange’s comments in the other thread is that JBoy’s work has no meaning or message.

So, if there’s been no real creative process involved in terms of either the aesthetic or the concept of the work, then that seems to leave us with nothing. In which case, what’s the point or the appeal for either the artist or the viewer?

I don't think you need to be all that cynical to think most of the canvases were never actually created. I've personally never seen one for real, and I don't know anyone that has. Not any of the new work anyway. Set aside the fact that the entire jboy identity is a blatant rip off of banksy, from the rip off CYW to the "inspired by" signature to the goddamn rat emoji used on the jboy Instagram page. Anyone who pretends there are no similarities is being intentionally, and deceptively thick.

I'll let you guys know if I ever receive an email with images from jboy. I'm not holding my breath.

The image is okay and the execution as these things go is fine and may well sit reasonably well in many members collections....here comes the 'but'....

Prints for me are a means to accessing a bit of an artist that I believe in at hopefully a price that is within my means. And here's the issue with this artist. I've never seen over the years being a member on here, any solo shows, group shows, pop-ups, street work or really anything but print multiples from this artist. It's fine to sell prints but if that's all an artist does it all appears a bit hollow. That said there's no rule book for an artist and if graphic design multiple type stuff is the way they want to go, then fair enough.

Fair points, jboy did the remasters show in east london in 2010 with atom gallery and then stopped for a few years which is why you have not seen much. It takes a while to get going but expect this soon. It is not about street work, the original statement was about being the first online / social media artist which happened and then something else stopped it. Before it stopped over 4000 people were signed to get updates, but it was all lost. If you check the old images on google you will see plans for an online art show etc. Banksy did it well in New York anyway when he did the social media experiment, so thats not a thing now. It is what it is but i do think some of the pieces you will see this year are really strong, but you can judge that! 

Im not going to get into a massive conversation about this as it ends up derailing but thats a brief true story.
