Nick Walker "In Gods We Trust" 13th Oct, by Daniel Silk on Aug 5, 2010 11:28:29 GMT 1, ART SENSUS presents: βIn Gods We Trustβ Nick Walker 13th Oct β 27th November 2010 Powerful new exhibition from graffiti pioneer Nick Walker βART SENSUSβ - 7 Howick Place, London, SW1P 1BB Private View - 12th October 2010- 6-9pm www.artsensus.com (LONDON β 29/07/10) In Gods We Trust sees an exciting new exhibition from iconic artist and graffiti pioneer β Nick Walker β the artistβs first major solo show in 2 years. Having created an international storm through a series of controversial street works (βLe Corancanβ Paris - March 2010 and βAmerikarmaβ New York - July 2010) the groundbreaking street artist is now moving from the streets back to the gallery. In Gods We Trust confronts cultural practices and dogmas through a paradoxical exploration of political and religious landscapes. Debuting 12 new works, this shrewd new showcase is set to be Nick Walkerβs most powerful collection to date. Nick's work has acquired a strong following, with a broad spectrum of collectors including; superstar art lords the Mugrabi family, music stars Ian Brown and Robbie Williams, actor Donald Sutherland, footballer Michael Ballack and the president of Sony Motion pictures Deborah Schindler. Nick Walkerβs last two solo shows (Pretty Decorating at the Carmichael Gallery, LA β Feb 2008 and V for Vandal at Black Rat Press, London - April 2008) have both been sell-out successes.
Prior to his openings, crowds of fans can be seen camping on the streets outside for over 24 hours in hope of purchasing a limited edition print. Julian Farrow, Director, ART SENSUS said: βIn Gods We Trust is a groundbreaking exhibition for us here at ART SENSUS, as for the first time ever, we are representing and promoting a home-grown British artist. For me, Nick Walker's art is symptomatic of this turbulent time in politics and religion, as he alludes to the latent hypocrisy and heterogeneous mind-set fostered in contemporary culture.β βART SENSUS is delighted that Nick Walker has chosen to complement his street graffiti with this tightly focused exhibition. I hope that the important issues raised in In Gods We Trust resonate across all the generations who are familiar with this seminal artist's work.β In an era where political correctness is heavily ingrained into our daily interactions, prepare to cast your judgements aside and be confronted by the irony of urban civilisation.

I would say yes. As soon as the recent work went up I thought a show was on its way. Will be interesting to see how they translate to Canvas

Nick Walker "In Gods We Trust" 13th Oct, by Scraffer on Aug 5, 2010 12:08:28 GMT 1, TMA Hong Kong; its got to be! He sold that study of hong kong at the dreweatts auction, and it would look great with some splatters of paint and the vandall!
The koran can wouldn't work as well as it did on the streets of Paris, as it had meaning when it was there...

Nick Walker "In Gods We Trust" 13th Oct, by Happy Shopper on Aug 5, 2010 14:13:52 GMT 1, I was just thinking yesterday that perhaps Nick Walker must be planning a new show... or had he left the scene!?
Will be interesting to see... but that image on the flyer doesn't look like breaking any new ground.

Nick Walker "In Gods We Trust" 13th Oct, by Deleted on Aug 5, 2010 15:54:04 GMT 1, from an email The Helium Foundation sent out
Nick Walker in NYC
As promised here are some pictures from Nick Walker's recent trip to New York. Nick took time out from preparing his new show to add his latest creations to the walls of the great American city. Some of the works are one off pieces (Nutterfly & Mariachi Mona Lisa) but a couple of them are expected to be included in the October show (see below).
For more information call us on 0207 404 7667 or email contact@heliumfoundation.com. You can view some of our current Nick Walker stock on our website www.heliumfoundation.com
"Amerikarma" looks great. Could this be the print? Good luck with the show Nick.

I agree on both points....especially as its in London
Also seems strange to me that this 'new gallery' specialise in russian art yet doing a street art show?

What a strange point to make!
Does 'Nola' not work as a print because it isnt in the streets of New Orleans?
Many prints are taken from works on the streets, and location often plays an important part for the overall effect of the art!!

Hey - I agree - most exciting news
Just to make things a bit clearer - our gallery used to specialise in Russian art, however we are relaunching as ART SENSUS as we move forward into the international scene.
And who better to start our new programme with than Nick Walker?! We're absolutely THRILLED!!!

Not yet I'm afraid - keeping things under-wraps until further notice. It's great to see everyone so excited about the Nick show. We're producing a great catalogue for it, so there's a lot to look forward to!
