Ron English πΊπΈ Popaganda β’ Pop Culture β’ Toys, by Icesay on Sept 24, 2015 19:06:12 GMT 1, 2/ Government spent billions of dollars to move elephants from one place to another.
Wow is that true!? Billions? How are they moving them?
Seriously though I don't know the facts but would be nice if the proceeds of the print went to some good cause.

Ron English πΊπΈ Popaganda β’ Pop Culture β’ Toys, by Deleted on Sept 24, 2015 20:50:48 GMT 1, bigboss, no offense but this is some of the stupidest post i have seen on this forum... Nobody understand "africa" but you... Interesting... I said "Africa, in the cradle of mankind" to quote the post. I never said "nobody knows Africa but me", I said "ignorant westerners". Nothing interested, living in Africa, I may know more than people living outside Africa. You may get a few things you see from your window but i fear that's about it. Which window ? Sure I have a house and a office with windows... that's about it, hehehe, I fear you are wrong, do you know me ? What's do you see from your windows, sakya ?
Well, thank to you too but I have been to school. AI think if I live in Kenya, I live in Africa; why should stop saying this ? What should I say then Sure there are many countries in Africa but get your fact, Kenya has been for many years (since the 80s up to now) for a full ban of ivory trade and this has been implemented at African level, despite the fact that most other African countries were in favor of limited and controlled trade.
So sure it is complex, so sharing my point of view is on point. It's may be the stupidest post of the year (I am waiting for my price) but since you didn't brought any interesting facts to this (except primary level geography), I'll give you second place. no offense, thank you ?? No pun fight, no need to get pop corn, I let you tell me what you see from your window in your continent... and just ignore you I guess.
Anyway, for good cause or not, I am sure the artist had fun at PrintThemAll printing, a great one from what I have seen, and that printing is quality. But as said someone above, it is blunt, the background is bad and the elephant itself is like any elephant you get here in "Curio shop" along the route. Otherwise, I like Ron English, been following for years... very odd.
As for giving to elephants, whatever you do is fine, but me I don't.
Bye

Billions? How are they moving them? Seriously though I don't know the facts but would be nice if the proceeds of the print went to some good cause. Hehe, an hyperbole, sorry... It varies greatly depending of countries, but in case of Kenya, they spent a lot. 2-3 millions of dollars a year... they move them by truck. This said, poaching is a big problem now, and population is low but still stable. And Kenya spend a lot now fighting poaching, millions too... That's governmental expenses, then you have all the big private reserves-trustees. They also spend quite a lot in elephant conservation and fighting poaching.
There was a major conference in London about protection of widlife and especially trade recently and more money is being now injected to assist countries to try to block the ivory trade. But then, without a full participation of Asian countries and stronger institutions in African countries, the killing will continue.
Cost related, at the end, it adds up... but far from stupidest billions.
*I didn't say Africa, yeah

Ron English πΊπΈ Popaganda β’ Pop Culture β’ Toys, by lee3 on Jan 26, 2016 18:49:59 GMT 1, What does his work go for now out of pure curiosity? I recall going to a bar in soma SF about 7 or 8 years ago and being surrounded by Marilyn's with mickey mouse tits at $250 a piece if memory serves. It was not his much more detailed photorealistic work but rather quick looking silkscreen paintings and I presume things are far higher today.

I like some of his work but his prices have always been ridiculous imo. I cant imagine he gets tons of buyers who can resell his work for the same amount or more unless its with a auction. Has Ron's work been doing well in auctions? Can anyone explain his market?
