Ron English πΊπΈ Popaganda β’ Pop Culture β’ Toys, by Invaded 420 on Feb 5, 2015 23:31:57 GMT 1, Went down to see Ron paint on a food run break from the borondo queue today. (After a heads up from londonboy that he was painting so close) Was awesome and he was kind enough to do me a little doodle
His painting was stunning and was great watching him work if only for 10 or so minutes

He was very snobby and posh and spoke to everyone like something he'd trod in. For Real. RIP Brian

Ron English πΊπΈ Popaganda β’ Pop Culture β’ Toys, by Con Art Studio on Sept 24, 2015 13:25:00 GMT 1, Thoughts on this piece? I really like it for some reason - I think it's how clean it is fan of Ron English and really like the image but the composition (placement) of the elephant on the paper is absolutely horrible. Each ear almost bleeds off the sides of the paper and there's too much white space above and below the image. It's as if they just used whatever paper they had lying around and just dropped the image onto it without any thought. The paper shape is completely wrong for the image and unfortunately, ruins it for me.

Ron English πΊπΈ Popaganda β’ Pop Culture β’ Toys, by Deleted on Sept 24, 2015 13:39:45 GMT 1, Who doesn't like elephants!? Or the cradle of mankind!? And who doesn't hate the oppression of Africa and it's people!? Me, because I live in Africa, in cradle of mankind, and I can tell you that this all elephant thing is just a great way to milk the ignorant westerners...
Here, just few reasons:
1/ There are - in some areas of Africa - too many elephants (despite alarming poaching recently)
2/ Governments spend billions of dollars to move elephants from one place to another (stupid waste of money)
3/ Elephants in Kenya kill about 120 persons per year and another thousand injurd per year. But this, nobody speak about.
4/ People killed or injured by elephants get nothing (may be a 1000 euros max per death)
3/ Overpopulation means nature is destroyed. Also they like to destroy crops and they consume lot of water (hydric stress)
4/ Most water resources are gazetted and included in national park and/or reserves, forcing nomadic people to move and walk for hours (if not days) to get water, same for cattle.
5/ Elephants bring lot of tourists, sure, but communities never ever got their share of money collected by authorities. Promises to share water by installing pump station and pipe were never done.
6/ A good one, money donated usually goes to British Trust or private trustees (rarely communities or authorities), it means that money you give goes to the grandson of a white colon who presumably live on stolen land and often behave like an arrogant white hunter.
7/ Most poachers have backup in police and government (yep, MPs are known to fund poachers) and money you send to the white guy in his farm will not help. To fight poaching, it is simple, you need to fight CORRUPTION
In general, I find it amazing that animal life usually bring more interest than human life... So yes, people in Africa are oppressed by the elephants, land grabbers, politicians and tourism and they don't get much.
*********** This said; this work is Ron English is indeed very odd, unusual and not very nice.
Still have one of mine for sale at 70 euros www.flickr.com/photos/drugzilla/albums/72157631333796100

And please, stop saying you live in africa when you actually live in kenya. Africa, like every continent is big, complex, and with dozen of countries, all different thank you ?
