I can't argue with you at all and do not exactly feel great about it. But in that time I secured a Banksy canvas which I had not planned for at the time of purchase and unfortunately one or two things have to go. That said its a fair comment.

Heard it all before Wal. All I can say is I use to have a collection that cost very little and now I have one that cost me half the price of my house. I guess my tastes have got more expensive.. .

You are welcome to join me on facebook and see not only my collection but pieces that have been with me since day one.

I have a large Shep collection (Stencils & HPMs) all of which I paid a premium price for on the secondary market. Sorry this one did not stick but as I said the Paranoid Pictures I picked up was not planned.

Again happy to take the criticism (although I was not actually selling this piece on the forum). .

sorry but if anyone else did this on the forum and got found out they would get torn apart... i have to say its quite bad form - no offense meant neil but to buy from source and sell at such a mark up 2 weeks later is not a good look - at least offer it up at what you paid for it.

That said its yours to do with what you want with and i guess people do it with banksy so game on.

Harv - I have to agree with previous posts. That is pretty gross of you. At the end of the day who cares what people say to you. It's yours to sell for what you can get. But, you know what your doing isn't completely right.

Can't disagree guys and I contemplated selling a different HPM but this is the one I like least. I have paid through the nose for my Shep pieces but I guess I have to take the criticism. I could not turn the Banksy down.

I would add that I have spent an absolute fortune on my collection and many pieces that I have sold have been sold at a below cost and every penny plus much more has gone back into buying art. Why? Because I love and enjoy the works that hang in my house every day.

Guys I have already said that this was not the best idea in the world and it certainly was not planned. I cannot reverse the Banksy canvas purchase and this out of my Shep pieces is my least favourite. I actually like it or I would not have bought it. Clearly there is not much love for it here and it was not exactly snapped up at Subliminal.

I do not expect to get anywhere near the BIN and if I can think of another way to fund the shortfall then this will stay in my collection. I would add gladly.

Not much more I can say on the subject and there are a few people who have at least seen my collection who know that every last spare penny I have gets hung on my walls in the shape of art. I have never hidden behind any different persona's on any forum or ebay, its the same name with nothing to hide.

The HPM are collages.
Its silkscreen on wood and HPM on Wood. (thats collage/silkscreen)

That comment hits pretty hard. Having known you for a long time a private pm expressing your disappointment would have been nice.

As I said I did not buy this piece with a plan to sell. I am not selling this because I really want to. I over committed myself with a purchase of a Banksy canvas and this seemed like the quickest way to resolve that.

I love all my Shep pieces and I will figure another way (that does not involve selling my body) or a different piece to cover this short term issue.

Okay I have made a mistake and it was not what I intended to do when I purchased the piece.

Greg I certainly feel sorry for anybody who has lost their job and who is having to sell their art collection. I am sure they are doing the right thing and have their priorities 100% correct. I am positive they would in no way be interested in buying whatever I might be selling at whatever price or what you might be selling as they have more important things to worry about.

Bottom line - we know H is one of the good guys around here. I have no doubt in my mind that H buys art that he loves beacuse of his passion, not for profit and contributes greatly to the "scene" or whatever you want to call it. There are people out there that buy things with the sole intention of selling on to make a profit. Clear to me that this is not what H did here.
No one likes to hear of anyone selling their collection due to financial hardship, perhaps H could have chosen his words better, but nothing more imo.

Do we though? I have lurked long enough (though just joined) to watch Harveyn flog multiple pieces some at a loss, others at a gain. At the end of the day, the leopad can't change his spots and if you stay on this forum you will have to endure pictures of the same room, with the same designer chair and varying works of art under Perspex. It is what he does.

Welcome to the forum.
I am afraid that I dont agree with you.
Most of us like to post pics of our collection - its what the get your art out thread is for. If you dont like to see other peoples collections, dont look at that thread.
I think its a shame that people may be put off posting pics of their collections/new pieces because of comments like yours.

In fairness Coach I think Cisco is referring to the fact that my pictures often feature the same three or four walls. I guess the implication being that I just have art in those walls or maybe the whole thing is staged!!!! I do not think Cisco was saying people should not post their pictures.

The truth is I have three or four favourite walls that new pieces get hung because thats where we spend most of our time and its nice to see the new pieces. Nothing more than that I am afraid. I can assure Cisco that there is hardly a wall free in our house and I would be happy to share those images.

If I am guilty of anything its a bit of showing off. But when you get a new piece its sometime hard to resist. I should try harder I guess.

I'd prefer you (and anyone else with the urge) reconsider and not resist as I enjoy looking at photos of work that moves others. I like to think that most people are drawn to this hobby first for a love of the art and can well appreciate the situation you now find yourself in (buying a bit too much art too quickly). I'm guilty of it once a year at least. Further, I was just made aware of the wonderful artist, j. geddes, that stenev uses for their avatar over on WK because someone appreciated it. These forums would be far less interesting without people posting photos of art that has grabbed their soul for whatever reason.

I suspect you already know this from experience but I've found that with a bit of hindsight, the pieces I've reached for and gone art poor in the short term tend to be among the faves of the collection long term.
