Beejoir - Poop Boy available now @ TLSG , by goffy on Apr 4, 2008 23:59:58 GMT 1, These are horrible in everyway. Makes the whole image a joke. At one point it seemed to have meaning and now it is just a brand to bleed dry and people are falling for it like a new release from POW. Haven't you heard of quality control. A pathetic waste of money. So you have got the print, you have got the sculpture, you might even have the bag. What next the pencil case and lunch box? And for you girls the LV ear rings. Very sad.
"Are these signed" for fucks sake!

I respectfully disagree...the Japanese ( Murakami for example) blur the lines between art and fashion/merchandise...why can't Beejoir or anyone else for that matter - most of what is discussed here is financial value - art is a commodity - an d street art is more and more a commodity every day - like it or not - if you don't feel that way - then that's fantastic but, you're misleading yourself -

I am not misleading myself at all and you have confirmed that. "Art and fashion/merchandise" "financial value" "art is a commodity and street art more and more each day" Pathetic! If that is all you are interested in then that's fine. THAT'S WHAT THIS PLACE HAS BECOME, FUCKING EBAY BY ANOTHER NAME. People with more money than sense, buying any shit that's put in front of them with the intention to sell it for a fast buck as soon as possible. And it's not just the usual suspects, most of you do it, just admit it. I have no problem with people who buy to sell, it is just when you go on how great some artist is, buy every piece of shit by them, then flog as soon as you can "to buy something else". I've got an idea, buy something that you actually want to keep and put on your wall/shelf. There has hardly been anything of any worth put out for ages. Wake up and smell the coffee people. Be more choosy in what you buy, don't accept any crap that's put in front of you. Save yourself some fucking money.

Beejoir - Poop Boy available now @ TLSG , by michaelscott on Apr 5, 2008 4:12:05 GMT 1, Missed this as I was working this afternoon... But strangely both still available. Went for the Black & Gold as it will go with romanywg's Beathoven. Not as good as JG's but will look good alongside. Anybody got a Black Faile Bunny Boy? Yes, I have one Harveyn...and the silver/metal one, and a lavender, and a green.

I may not have much sense as you so blandly put it, but, I have even less money. That said, I have artwork by artists that you and I'd dare say, 98% of the people on this forum have never heard of - originals and prints. I do buy what I like and I also buy purely for investment purposes. If art is not a commodity, then why are Banksy's prints (just for an example) no longer available for 50 pounds? Even he knows and has known for quite sometime that it is something he can make a very good living off of -
I have pieces I will never ever sell - and they are by artists with immense talent who sell some of their work at each show they have but, they do not have sell out shows by any means - I've purchased artists works without knowing a thing about the artist aside from where they are from and their name regardless of the price tag so long as I was moved to do so and had the cash to purchase the art.
I've also purchased artists whose works are widely known and sought after - and yes, those I consider investments and commodities - that said, I don't buy anything if I don't like it - if art is not a commodity, then why does artwork cost something to begin with? s**t, to even see a museum exhibit it costs money - like I said you are fooling yourself -
and to your comment that "there has hardly been anything of any worth put out in ages" you're a blind man, son. Learn to turn your head in more than one direction and perhaps you'll see something of "worth" lurking somewhere outside of the shallow pond you seem to be so frustrated with.

Well put Thes**t. Agree with you 100%. I'll take it a step further and say that the statue is better than the print in my opinion. No, it is not because I am jealous that I dont have the print. It is that the statue is more subtle where as the print, when hung, will command the attention of the entire room and lets face it, neither the image nor the statue are objects that everyone enjoys. I hope that makes sense, if not... i dont care

Beejoir - Poop Boy available now @ TLSG , by goffy on Apr 5, 2008 8:53:50 GMT 1, I don't really want to upset anyone on here but I am going to. This piece of crap by Beejoir is the worst piece of 'art' I have seen in a long time and he, SOS and TLSG should be ashamed of themselves to be connected with it. Beejoir's work only works on the street. Nothing he has produced should ever be in people's houses, it just doesn't work. But really has wound me up over this flogging of a dead horse is that firstly, the LV Child was a powerful image, criticism of african kids bought/adopted like accessories by rich people. I'm sure his intentions were good when he first done it. Then he sold the signed print, who the hell thinks it good to have a picture of a starving child on their wall at home. For some reason it became popular, especially with the flippers, so he brought some more prints out, this time unsigned and you lapped it up like a puppy at it's mothers tit. Then he done it as another piece at a TLSG gallery show, some people weren't to happy about that. And then for what can only be monetary reasons, he releases these hideous sculptures. And not only has he released the black ones but for the richer of you a gold one for fucks sake. How crass can you get. And I would also say that anyone he bought this monstrosity should be ashamed of themselves especially the people who bought both of them. And If you ever take them out of the box I believe you will feel that shame, right before you put them on ebay.
Obviously you are not called theshit for nothing, and I see clearly, and you are just a bread head.

Good to see some strong opinions re this piece, isn't that what art's meant to be about, debate?

Beejoir - Poop Boy available now @ TLSG , by craigf on Apr 5, 2008 9:38:55 GMT 1, THERES NO DEBATE ON THIS ONE. PUTRID UGLY IS NOT DEBATABLE. JUST LIKE KATE MOSS IS NOT DEBATABLE.
I think this thread contradicts that statement and if you reply to this post by default there is debate going on ;D

Beejoir - Poop Boy available now @ TLSG , by pezlow on Apr 5, 2008 9:50:43 GMT 1, Goffy I don't believe that Beejoir will make a penny out of this release. I believe that all of his proceeds will go to the mercy centre.

I wouldn't go handing out respect to TLSG for donating anything. ALL of the respect should go to beejoir....

I would not of thought LSG are makiing much on this. If Chris thought they were coining it in then SOS would have released it.

Beejoir - Poop Boy available now @ TLSG , by pezlow on Apr 5, 2008 10:44:01 GMT 1, I don't know the details BUT gallery/artist split is normally 50/50 and Chris has already confirmed that 100% of his proceeds is going to the mercy centre so it doesn't take a genius to work out that TLSG are not donating a penny. If I am wrong then I would be delighted to apologise.
