Beejoir - Poop Boy available now @ TLSG , by mocksy on Apr 6, 2008 0:09:55 GMT 1, I think we are going to see a lot more of these 'Novelty' items. Banksy recently trademarked his name and propably because he knows everyone wants a bit of the 'Novelty' market. It would not suprise me if we seen a few legitimate 'Novelty' limited editions in the near future from Mr 'B'. Just IMO of course ;D Does it still count as a novelty if it's ยฃ100,000?
Of course ;D

Beejoir - Poop Boy available now @ TLSG , by Martin Whatson on Apr 6, 2008 3:02:01 GMT 1, haha. This is just getting stupid. Many on this board (and possibly many chritists of this piece) are using tons of cash on art every month. And cant stand that someone is doing a charity piece. Fuck me. Its just sad. And Goffy. Both you and I know that if Banksy did that piece my comment would be quite right! Some or most of Banksys pieces should never have been exhibited on walls in the first place! So why do people care so much for his work then?

I think these are fantastic !! I believe LV child to be one of the most memorable pieces from last year .. iconic ! Missed the canvas and now wont ever afford one .. having this little sculpt to add to the collection more than makes up for that...
Thought provoking on alot of levels - definitely , a conversation starter - look at this thread !!! Am i going to enjoy this piece of work ? 100% And at the same time a huge chunk of cash IS going to make a massive difference to ALOT of people who really need it ...
Huge respect to Beejoir for that ..

Beejoir - Poop Boy available now @ TLSG , by goffy on Apr 6, 2008 14:06:25 GMT 1, So Chris' cut is going to charity. If he had any imagination he could have done a new and hopefully better print, it would have been cheaper to make, and he could have made as much money for his worthy cause. But did he do that, NO. So I hope you enjoy you starving African boy taking a dump on top of your television. And for the ones who bought the 'gold' one, I hope you see how wrong that is every time you look at it.

Im sick of reading your tarnishing dribble like you should have a say in Chris' creative process - if you dont like dont buy, your welcome to your opinion but sheeesh we know you dont like it but dont judge people who do, seems you have issues, maybe you should contact Chris im sure he could settle your mind and maybe help you understand the piece a little more

Beejoir - Poop Boy available now @ TLSG , by Heavyconsumer on Apr 6, 2008 14:25:07 GMT 1, I LOVE this piece!!! Not so into the gold one, I loved the print and like the black piece more as it's truer to the image. Of course the gold leaf works fine on a conceptual level too. Contrary to Goffy's opinion, which I hear and think is complete crap on this occasion, I think this is a breath of fresh air creatively. Definitely thinking of getting one! The fact that such a chunk of the cash is going to such a worthy cause is a HUGE bonus. If you'd rather sit around and question what more the artist should be doing, it's probably time to look in the mirror and ask what you can do, instead of being the person so quick to knock others, feel good about yourself and do something to be positive about - sponsored run, walk, swim, ride, whatever. Go and give away your hard-earned cash, but for fvck's sake shut up deciding what's correct for everyone else!!!

Beejoir - Poop Boy available now @ TLSG , by Heavyconsumer on Apr 6, 2008 14:29:04 GMT 1, dave, I've not been into any of the Faile figures or in fact other such items either. This piece is somehow different for me though. I think the message is timeless and always very poignant. As others have mentioned, it's also very thought-provoking. Such an engaging piece of art. For me that's the point overall, to be engaged and interact with art in this way is fvcking cool!

Beejoir - Poop Boy available now @ TLSG , by goffy on Apr 6, 2008 14:34:03 GMT 1, I am not going to go into why I think this is wrong (again). But perry if people are going to call me up over what I have written then I shall respond. You say to me don't buy it if you don't like it, well that's a given. Then should take your own advice and if you don't want to read any of my "tarnishing dribble" then don't.

Beejoir - Poop Boy available now @ TLSG , by dave313perry on Apr 6, 2008 14:38:44 GMT 1, Yeah thats exactly my point, you like - you buy!
Chris is a great guy who created a couple of smashing pieces last year, at superb and affordable prices when so many other similar outfits to SOS were upping and upping the prices by every release. Chris stays true to his beliefs, gives alot of his profits to charity and does it for the love of art, so for people to start questioning his motives on releasing this piece is out of order and way off the mark. Not liking the piece is another matter and one which should be discussed but just get the feeling theres abit of hate going round for chris for some reason

Granted i wont but id like to participate in discussing the piece without you throwing such a negative slant on the conversation, fair play you dont like it but dont keep jumping at others who show a liking to it, i personally dont like the gold, think the blacks ok, but wont be buying either, but as a topical piece of affordable art, from a desirable artist for a reasonable price, with much of the profits going to a worthy charity - there are plenty of merits to which your overlooking regardless of how piss poor the art could be. and as i just posted, Chris released a couple of the most symbolic prints of 2007 at brilliant prices considering his popularity so these suggestions about over using an image i just think are out of order

It should be noted that 50% of PROFIT is being donated to charity NOT 50% of retail sales income. So all costs associated with design, production and sales will be taken off the total sales income before the amount of profit is established and then 50% of that will be given to charity.

still means that beejoir is making nothing from this and yet tlsg are skimming off the top, would have thought that they could have done the charitable thing for once

Beejoir - Poop Boy available now @ TLSG , by Heavyconsumer on Apr 6, 2008 16:19:26 GMT 1, everyone's very quick to jump to conclusions. Have you people all seen that the 50% is Beejoir's cut and not split? How do you all know that the artist isn't getting half the remaining profits? Not that this would detract from the gesture imo. I think it's great that some poor and desperate people in the Bangkok slums will get a little helping hand in some way. In fact I think all companies and people that make very significant profits should choose to give at least a very small percentage to those others who are struggling to survive. Nice gesture and a good example. I hear that Mr B is giving vast sums from his income (more than he keeps for himself!) to charity too. Maybe we should not be nitpicking the details but looking in the mirror instead.

Beejoir - Poop Boy available now @ TLSG , by beau on Apr 6, 2008 16:44:22 GMT 1, how can anyone complain at some money going to charity - jesus you cant win! would people be happier if no percent of 'profits' went to charity? for fuck sake wish people would stop trying to knock others down or jump on opinion band wagons! As for the piece, the poop boy reference will stick! and at first glance it looked like he had a massive nut sack hanging down (sorry to mar this piece further!), also at 7 x 13 i'll not be taking one, however i think it's quite a cool little token for those that like - especially if you love the print it's nice to have a tangible item - a cool talking point on a desk.
amazing the anger and debate this piece has started!
black ones still available
what does anyone think of Emerald Lizlam by kguy? not keen myself not something i can see up

I can categorically say that all of beejoir's profit is going to charity. As for TLSG well they are a member here so if they are donating any of their profit then they no doubt can say so.

Beejoir - Poop Boy available now @ TLSG , by Leonard Street Gallery on May 13, 2008 11:59:50 GMT 1, Hello Everyone,
Just a note to say a big thank you to all of you for purchasing the Beejoir LV Child statues from us here at Leonard Street Gallery- also thank you for your patience on waiting for your sculptures to arrive.
Production of the 600 LV's took longer than planned as each were hand crafted, engraved and boxed individually including signed COAs.
We did sent out individual emails explaining the delay last week but sorry to those who did not receive them as this was very important to us.
We do apologize for the wait yet the statues are ready and WILL START TO GO OUT IN BATCHES THIS WEEK 15 MAY 2008.
Again please accept our apologies and thank you for your continuous support.
