out of 8 works by Neverwork we have, 5 were NOT purchased through duck art and were never owned by duck art at any point!

anyone showing interest in the canvas I have (marked as "coming soon") which i believe is still available at duck art, get directed to duck art by me so they can buy it at cost price. not many would do that I believe.

Not to have a go or anything, just curious. But, to create a print is quite a lot of work, artist is making original work, idea of a print is discussed either with partners or through a dealer, finance and budgets are worked out, couple of meetings to decide which image to screenprint, go through the process of sourcing paper, finding decent printers, making PP's etc.. then agreeing a price that you think is fair for a) your fans or b) necessary to get your work out there at affordable prices etc etc.. all taking a lot of time, effort and commitment.

Along comes secondary market online dealer who buys up a batch to sell on his own site with a large mark up.

How do you justify this to yourself ? what do you get from it ? not being involved in any way during the process...doesn't it just feel empty ?

there was no "batch" buy up going on as you call it. unless buying 1 canvas (from 10) and 1 print (from 9) can be called a "batch"!

i also feel quite full after a hearty meal, and sleep like a baby thanks ;D

i bought a 1/1 piece of neverworks about 8 or 9 months ago - came with a fantastic screenprint coa, and an ap of another piece that i hadnt even bought. ;D framed and on the wall. ;D
no doubt not to everyones taste, but i like the one i got.

Nuart - when you deem it necessary to flog off any art you own yourself (because perhaps, you got bored of owning, say, 3 copies of a particular edition), why don't you put it on ebay with a buy-it-now price equalling that which you originally paid for it? Failing that, a price which is LESS than you paid for it.
You might sleep better at night and feel a better, more Holy person, for it?

You'll see from the Duck-art website that Neverwork has a show starting this week, which is being held at Amuti. The Preview is on Wednesday, I think. If anyone is interested in possibly buying a piece, seems like as good a place as any to look. Alternatively try and contact Neverwork directly - think he posts on Wall Candy.

While neverwork has emerged as one of London’s leading ‘Street Artists’ his working methods and processes have remained notoriously difficult to pin down, often working across mediums to create one single polymath.

neverwork continuously scavenges the city for materials to recycle into artworks. Bits of urban detritus, random elements, left-overs from the society of abundance and the world of obsolescence are fused together to create new meanings from the absence of meaning.

Influenced by situationist, structuralist and semiotic theories these new works expose both the lies and ugly truths that we accept as reality and are loaded and layered with meaning. It is this sense of historical context and desire for progress paired with a dedicated work ethic that is placing neverwork head and shoulders above many of his contemporary contemporaries.

I love that it says something like he's "influenced by structuralist theory and semiotics" or something... and the text on the work ranges from Mcdonalds.."Evil bunch of clowns" to " I worked all my life for this pile of crap", had me in stitches ! in an post structuralist sort of way
