Guy Denning - not much sold from his show - yet, by Guest on Feb 12, 2008 20:17:21 GMT 1, I really like his work, but the prices are way to high, I would consider buying if prices were lower. Too many good artistes in that price bracket, that are much more well known.

thats better.
although in your angry rush you wrote your response in the quote. also 'giclee boy' is quite amateur. bit flustered?
as for the "2d toilet paper" thats just plain wrong. anyway enjoy your dennings, you probably find them deep and meaningful, whereas i just see the demented paintings of someone who must be thanking buddah, allah, god and every other fucker that this forum 'discovered' him

yes, well I'm sick of listening to this type of ignorant fool. He pays over the odds for a a few prints off the secondary market and thinks he has an opinion worth listening to.

the number of baseless assumptions you make is astounding.
you are boring me now, as you're clearly a bit dim. anyway, enjoy your dennings, maybe go get some more?
sounds like they have plenty left
good evening x

no, no, don't go yet. I was still waiting for you to say something witty, urbane or even coherent. You see thats just it with tourists like yourself. You see something you don't understand, or find faintly challenging, and you run from it. But not before you throw some half baked remark over your slopey shoulders. Stick with the easy stuff giclee boy...leave the real art to the grown ups

Guy Denning - not much sold from his show - yet, by Bram on Feb 12, 2008 21:51:19 GMT 1, Yes I agree. Guy's stuff is realy calming a gives everyone in a cool karma.
Don't forget this was a short show and even shorter with the real pricing. Had this been a full blown show at RP I think it would have been better but can understand the thnking. I think that RP expected some spin off from the auction.
I also think that a solo exhibtion just 3 months after the 5/11 show was too soon.
I think this is just a blip and he will rise again. Strong images and worth every penny. Shame that some people seem to slag off any artist that they can't flip and make a quick buck on.

Guy Denning - not much sold from his show - yet, by Photoxtc on Feb 13, 2008 1:02:09 GMT 1, Guy's work is not for everyone but is very much for me, it's also really hard to judge his work from a picture, not even close to what they look like in person...
I have heard the Art student comment thrown around before, all I can say is go see some of his work in person and your mind just may be changed, whether or not the imagery is for you, it still can't be denied that Denning is an amazing talent and a top bloke...
I'm amazed every single day as I look at the canvases I own by him and constantly discover new brush strokes or layers of paint or varnish or maybe even a new emotion... That is what is art is about and we all have our own taste and should tend to be a little more open minded when it comes to art..
why you would want to waste your time and slag an artist and his work that you have probably never seen in the flesh is beyond me?

Guy Denning - not much sold from his show - yet, by reznyce on Feb 13, 2008 1:55:57 GMT 1, His work is amazing in my opinion. I own three pieces. I love looking at them. But I do think that RP acted in haste here. They should have priced the items lower to allow more people to get to know his work. Take Josh Keyes as an example. Despite his popularity and long waiting lists for his work, he's selling originals for $1500-$5500!! Big mistake on RP's part. There is a catch-22 situation now - RP will get buyers at with these prices, but lowering the prices will not look good either. They do look amazing though - I wish I could afford one.
