Beejoir- Lies, by nacional on Nov 22, 2007 17:52:54 GMT 1, Not released yet, I know, but image up on SOS. What do people think?
Anyone has any idea of print run and price??
Also form of release: he is a little tease regarding paper etc. Will this one be printed on real pre-WW2 newpaper, have the word Lies handsprayed in different tones of pink and gold embossed with the SOS brand logo??

Beejoir- Lies, by mose on Nov 22, 2007 18:14:02 GMT 1, I really dislike it. Instead of getting 'cute' with various gimmicks, I'd rather a stronger image that shows artistic progress. This print appears to be more of the same, and looks like it could have been made by any of the current bunch of c-level street artists hustling prints these days. I believe that Beejoir is not c-level, making it all the more disappointing.

Beejoir- Lies, by craigf on Nov 22, 2007 18:44:57 GMT 1, I was lucky enough to see a test copy of this in the flesh a few months ago. My feeling then, as it is now, was it was a weaker piece. The message is still strong, but the not a lot has been added to the picture. I think SBFO and Turin Scam are amazing pieces, maybe this one will grow on me as well. There are a couple of other prints to come on SOS I would prefer. He does have a show in a couple of months and I'm expecting a return to form

Beejoir- Lies, by dotdot on Nov 22, 2007 19:22:42 GMT 1, putting the output from this fine artist in context we have Lv (sos) S - 40 ? Turin Scam (sos) S - 75 ? Lv (sos) US - 400 Sfbo (sos)- 40 Sfbo (found)- 125 Lies..(2minutes max to sellout..
(I Dont think Immodium is going to be released as a print - would look cool however !)
Not sure if Lies, if released at around the time of the show in London, will act as a catalyst in the way that say LV did when it was finally released. (site said Dec I remember - gives us time to settle down..)

Beejoir- Lies, by dave313perry on Nov 22, 2007 19:55:33 GMT 1, Im undecided - not really my thing on first impressions to be honest. i shall reserve judgement though as there are so many factors that could make this print impressive - ie size, print quality, impact in the flesh, hand touches etc etc interesting one though!

Beejoir- Lies, by nacional on Nov 23, 2007 11:35:30 GMT 1, I think this is a grower. If you look at the actual image it does seem to be printed on newspaper, so I was only being half dumb when I said it may be pre-WW2 newspaper.
I am really going to show my historical ignorance, but is the guy Clement Attlee?? It doesn't look like Chamberlain, who would be a better candidate for the comment "lies": peace in our time etc...
If it is Attlee I don't really get it as he took over from Churchhill after the war.
I actually like the simplicity of it.

Beejoir- Lies, by snakes on Nov 23, 2007 11:40:15 GMT 1, What, no one has an opinion on the new Beejoir, but his prints sell like s**t off a shovel, he racks up bids like banksy on the bay and his seems to be the only artist who's work is going up in price at the moment???
Hate to disturb your dream but since the 'Stolen' show earlier o in the year when his prints were selling for selling for silly money (SBFO 125 ยฃ6-700 when release price was ยฃ125) they have been on a downward spiral (SBFO 125 lucky to get ยฃ220).
That includes prices on turin scam, LV childs etc etc.

I think reason for that was that SoS were quite quiet for last few weeks but lets hope the quiet time is now over

Its a paste up that he put up in Bangkok after the government restricted News offices and told them what they were allowed to say and not to say, most of which were lies.
I suspect it's just a random newsreader and not meant to be specific

the newsreader is reading the news on the night that the Hiroshima bomb was dropped. i have to say that when i first saw this a long while ago it didnt do much for me. but now i love it. so if anyone that doesnt like it stays away then i may stand a chance of buying a beejoir at cost for a chance.

If your looking at it from a money point of view didn't the LV's only cost 35 quid? The Shell on Real money 100 quid and the Turin 50 quid? From my point of view not many prints fetch 5 times their original value on the secondary market even with the price slump that we are having at the moment, Banksys were going for almost double the prices they are now during the same period 6 months ago.

Beejoir- Lies, by fartofthestate on Nov 23, 2007 16:02:48 GMT 1, Its also strange and somewhat twatty watching people look at it from a 'fast buck' perspective, when I bought my Banksys 5 years ago they were worth less than what I paid for them for them for a very long time. In this age of stupidity people judge things on the price of flipping, I'd love to see someone make it really big, either another POW/SOS/BRP artist thats been flipped to death, just so I can hear the flippers weep that they once sold one a week after they bought it for only twice the price they paid for and now its worth 10,000 pounds.

Beejoir- Lies, by nacional on Nov 23, 2007 16:36:50 GMT 1, Don't the two go hand-in-hand. As I was always taught, you can't separate the artist from his work.
This doesn't mean that we can't appreciate art, any art, without prior knowledge of the artist and his/her context, but if we are aware of this context it will inevitably inform our understanding of the art which will per se deepen our appreciation of it. Or, indeed, our loathing of it.

Nice one... agree 100%. A pretty picture on your wall is only one part of it IMO. In fact, looking around my house, there's some fucking ugly stuff on the walls. so in some cases, the pretty picture aspect of art is maybe only a small % of why we appreciate some of the stuff we do.
